    Season Three - Episode Five: "Más"
    Episode Description:
    Gus increases his efforts to lure Walt back into business, forcing a rift between Walt and Jesse. Skyler doubts her new relationship. Marie confides in Skyler about her concerns over Hank's well-being after Hank's actions tangibly affect his career prospects.
    Episode Overview:
    As Skyler struggles with her conflicted feelings over her affair with Ted and having her husband living back at home against her will, Walt calls Saul Goodman for an answer as to why he was paid half of the cash from Jesse’s recent drug deal with Gus. Despite the lawyer’s efforts to remain businesslike, civility breaks down as Jesse angrily insists that, regardless of what Walt says, he will continue making as much meth as he wants. But after going to see Gus about the apparent mix-up, Walt finds that his former buyer has created a sophisticated underground drug lab to lure him back into the business. And though Walt insists he has quit for good, he’s left wondering about his decision after Gus reminds him of his responsibility to provide for his family.
    While continuing his frustrating search for the motor home he’s sure is being used as a mobile drug lab, Hank learns that his partner, Gomez, is taking the job in the DEA’s El Paso office - a job that was supposed to be his. Though Marie can see that he is deeply troubled by the news, Hank refuses to talk about it. And even as all the leads fail to pan out, Hank won’t give up and, pressing his secretary to make one more search of the DMV records, learns of an RV that has thus far escaped his attention. Meanwhile, as divorce lawyer Pamela Orbic warns that staying in the house could make her an accessory to her husband’s crimes, Skyler is surprised to discover that Walt has signed the divorce papers like she asked.
    In an effort to mediate their dispute - and make sure he gets a cut of any deal they make - Saul summons Jesse and Walt to his office. Yet, when the lawyer proposes that Jesse resume cooking meth while paying Walt a fee for using his old formula, neither man is satisfied. And after returning the money he was paid for Jesse’s work, Walt makes it clear that he intends to go back into business with Gus. Finally, following up on the last RV on his list, Hank discovers it was stolen from the parents of Jesse’s pal and former drug partner, Combo.

      That’s a shallow interpretation of what happened to Tomas (the little kid that shot Combo). Tomas was likely forcefully recruited by those dealers who gradually conditioned him to be their murderous proxy carrying out their will, even lethal action if need be as was the case with Combo. If you pay attention in the scene where Combo is shot, Tomas has a distressed and traumatized reaction to what he has done which indicates it’s likely his first murder and that he didn’t want to do it but was manipulated and coerced into it by the dealers who took advantage of his amenability and impressionability due to his age. So you may not feel sympathetic towards his (Tomas’s) death, but you can sympathize with the very probable circumstances which led to his untimely and tragic demise.

      Jesse's friends were all good people that didn't really intend to hurt anyone but themselves. Just some dudes who liked to get high. The "crossing point" was when they started selling meth, not only using it, because when you do that, you're not just a user anymore. But that's a consequence of our policy of prohibition tho. When Dr. John Marks prescribed pharmaceutical heroin for addicts in Widnes (m.ua-cam.com/video/Zy_86iVhmkQ/v-deo.html), the number of heroin addicts fell twelve-fold. That's because many addicts sell heroin in order to fund their own habit, and that means that they need to find costumers to sell to. So, they introduce more people to the drug in order to sell to them, and thus heroin use becomes a pyramid-selling scheme under prohibition. If you legally regulate heroin and let addicts have it through doctors for free or for a cheap price, you destroy this pyramid-selling scheme - the user doesn't need to sell heroin to get heroin anymore, because he has a steady legal supply through a prescription, and thus less people are introduced to the drug. The same thing happened in Switzerland when they started their national prescription heroin program for addicts who can't stop using. According to Johann Hari, who visited the heroin clinics in Switzerland, addicts on the program are 94.7% less likely to sell drugs (and recrute new costumers) than they were before the program.

    • @trenthardesty
      @trenthardesty 2 роки тому

      @@dboy2462 most heroin dealers in real life are not “pushers” trying to get others addicted to create more customers. If someone is an addict, they are not likely to want to willingly push the suffering of addiction onto anyone else. There are plenty other ways for heroin dealers to get an edge over each other’s business, from quality to prices to how consistently they are in the same spot or how quickly they deliver. Customers are created by pharmaceutical users turning onto a stronger product, or just the timeless appeal of drug use in our culture - some people will always want to try every indulgence, and the stigma also helps create a sense of “mystique” that attracts young people experimenting with drugs to heroin.

    • @dboy2462
      @dboy2462 2 роки тому +4

      @@trenthardesty You are wrong. The phenomenon of the user-dealer who recruts non-users to pay for his habit is very well known. It's the very reason why the incidence of heroin addiction fell in 94 percent in Widnes when Marks prescribed heroin for addicts, because that way they didn't need to recrute new costumers. Many patients reported to Marks himself that that's what they did before they got their prescription. The user-dealer is how heroin addiction spreads everywhere heroin is illegal.

      @@dboy2462 you're theory has some major flaws. Heroin skyrocketed in demand as a direct result of the legal prescribing of opoid painkillers like they were aspirin by Dr's across the country. The opoid epidemic was killing tons of people who never once bought a drug off the street and started out with a legit medical need turned addiction. It was a epidemic for years and years before the feds started cracking down on "pill mill" Dr's and going after the drug companies that encouraged overperscribing.. once the crackdown happened then all the addicts that couldn't score from the Dr turned to the street dealers.. this scenario. How the opoid epidemic happened, proves that prohibition isn't the cause of the problem when it comes to narcotics. Hard drugs like meth, herion, cocaine.. they are all highly addictive and destroy the bodies and minds of those who use them. Ending the prohibition won't fix the problem. It would just make them seem more acceptable to those who wouldn't otherwise seek them off a street dealer, and it would cause the number of people using, abusing, and overdosing to skyrocket.

      @@jasonplatco7881 Actually, the opioid epidemic proves my point. People only started dropping like flies when they were cut off of their legal prescriptions. In 2011, when the crackdown on opioid prescriptions was only beginning, oxycodone was the number one killer, with 5,587 deaths. In 2020, after the crackdown, there were 93,000 deaths from illicit opioids tainted with fentanyl. The crackdown on legal opioids made the problem way worse. People were way safer when they had legal access to prescription opioids through pill mills. Dr. Andrea Sereda prescribes Dilaudid for 150 opioid addicts in Canada. She gave them a legal supply. Do you know the results? There was a significant drop in drug-related crime. 48 percent commited crimes when they entered the program. That number was reduced to 12 percent. Likewise, 68 percent engaged in sex work. That number was reduced to 20 percent. There was a significant drop in injectable drug use. Zero overdose deaths from the prescribed drugs. Zero new cases of endocartitis. Hospital admissions and emergency room visits reduced. So it's clear that giving drug users legal access to their drugs prevents many of the problems that people associate with drug addiction, and the opioid epidemic confirms that, since the epidemic only got way worse when addicts were cut off of legal prescription opioids and were forced to resort to the black market. As Andrea Ryan, Andrea Sereda and Nadia Fairbairn puts it: "In Ontario, safer supply programs have been in place for up to 5 years showing initial results of decreased overdose, decreased infections, improvements in chronic disease management and decreased illegal activities to fund illicit drug purchase. These programs are creating compelling evidence that many of the harms of illicit drug use are in fact related to prohibition of these substances and our societal response to their use."
