"Martin" was one of television's highlights of the '90s. A huge part of what made the show so entertaining was the array of "Martin" show characters played by Martin Lawrence himself. Lawrence had range and believability, playing male and female, young and old, and everything in between.

I think what felt off about season 5 was the lack of Martin playing his other characters. If you think about it most of them made their last appearances in season 4 (Mama Payne, Jerome, otis, dragon fly) and he rarely played Sheneneh and roscoe S5 but he did bring back otis at least.
