      Julie Alderson Yep! Although the walk back from the beach, uphill, in the heat, was a bit of a killer!! Still a little gem though, and so cheap!! 😀👍

      Not all that uncommon in many french sites.... Shared bathroom facilities is just something you get used to.... Especially in off season when sometimes they close down extra toilet blocks.... But the he great thing about France is.... If you don't like the look of a site.... Theres sure to be one not far away that's more your cup of tea!! Xx

    There's a huge , two layer car park on the beach, which is sparsely occupied, even in season.
    On the list of other attractions are the corniche and massive beach at st Michael-en-Grieve 20 km south, which has surfers and sand yatcht racing, the mussel farming at Le Yaudet (10km) away, the faulted pink rock formations and lighthouse at Ploumanach 20 km north, the local radio telescope arrays (French equivalent of Jodrell Bank) and the extraordinary sand/shingle and pebble bank, Le Sillon De Talbert (30km to the North-East), which stetches 3.5 km into the sea (A sort of Chesil Beach meets Spurn head) and the artist colony on ile de Brehat (40 km North -East). Plus numerous chateaux inland.
    Not forgetting the local naturist beach . . As indicated by the pink painted WW2 German coastal defence pillbox.

      Thanks Nicholas. Lots of great information there! You obviously know the area very well.
      We were totally unaware of the naturist beach until we accidentally 'discovered' it...

      @@campervancapers6320 Its also worth going that 80 miles further West to the Western edge of France, particularly the Crozon peninsular and Douarnenez/Audierne peninsular. Cap Du Raz (The most Westerly point in France ) is a must to visit. The very extensive beaches to see on the Eastern shore of the Bay of Douarnenez (4 * hotel on one) , the shoreline nature reserve at La Palue/LostMarch, the huge curved family beach at Gouliene (Always water sports going on there), the Bretton Resistance war memorial at Pointe de Pen Hir, Crozon, the Napoloenic forts at Camaret-sur-mere and Roscnavel, the curved suspension bridge at Terenez, the pretty sailing/fishing porte of Morgat, Crozon with mini corniche, La Torche surfing congregation point near Penmarch, and various military establishments, including the ponton mooring that the German Battleship Bismark would have used had it made it to Brest.
      When I was down that way in 2008/9, I also visited, using the two-lane coastal express way, the Shipwrights in Concarneau who were repairing Jacques Cousteau's Calypso and the WW2 German U-Boat pens at Lorient.
      And if you back track 60 miles east again to the plateau south of Morlaix you'll see the extensive heath and gorse moorland, which is beautiful with the sun on it. And a bit further south from Morlaix, you'l find the Brocéliande Forest - the alleged haunt of King Arthur and his court.
      And there is no shortage of things to do and places to visit (If you choose to) and, similarly, no shortage of camp-sites all along the coast. And it was all reasonably priced at the time I visited.

    • @campervancapers6320
      @campervancapers6320  6 років тому

      MartinBoo! UK Hey Martin! To be honest, even if a campsite has free WiFi, it's pretty iffy. There are some Aldi stores that have free WiFi, and it's usually pretty good! I tend to use my own data plan on roaming just for the necessaries. I edit some of the vids whilst on holiday, if I get the chance, as I don't need the internet for that, but tbh , I do most of it when we get home...don't want to spend my holiday worrying about editing vids! All the vids are uploaded once we get home, as it takes quite a long time!! Hope that helps! 😀👍

      dawn green Hi Dawn! To be fair, France had an early summer heatwave the same as the UK! Most Brittany campsites stayed off season until around the 7th of July...so plenty of opportunity for lovely sunshine. Ps we've done @ 15000 miles so far I think...without going to look!! 👍😀
