Still probably my favorite DGD song ever. The intro is, hand down, my favorite riff to play ever. Also, for those of you saying that Jon Mess' screaming is terrible in this, well, you're making a classic mistake. You're looking at it the wrong way- you're sort of 'defining' it as screamo and comparing it to what your idea of screamo is. Don't try to categorize it- just listen instead. Does Mess' screaming sound like the screaming you'd hear in other bands, as in, does it sound like what you'd think screamo should sound like? No- what it sounds like is a man literally screaming into a microphone in a passionate fit of rage/disgust. He, very convincingly, sounds like he actually means the things hes screaming, like none of the lyrics were pre-written, like they were just things he felt needed to be said in that moment. And that's what makes this song so amazing.
Another neat thing about this song is you can almost taste Jon's anger. I know he screams a lot, but here it seems like he's really blowing off his steam, which is amazing to hear artist's present themselves in such a human way.
This song isn't just about our friends, parents, kids, drug and alcohol abuse, it's about you because we all have done shitty things and we are all hypocrites and will never admit to it. We all have a jonny craig in us
nope. Jon was just pissed at the world... he was being forced to quit music because of lymes desease and a lot of emotional shit was happening around him (this is pretty much what he said in a interview)
I really like Jonny, I wish he could have been different but I’ve heard from people who have spent time with him that he was complete asshole and treated everyone, especially women like shit. True negative Aries. But I do feel bad for him, I know he’s been through SOME SHIIT.
@@gho5taveng3r yeah im pretty sure that dude's talking about Jhonny craig, Jhonny IS an asshole idk about Jon but all ive heard about him are good things
didnt jon left with Jonny? and came back with him? and with the lyrics heh... in interviews they always say will writes alot of lyrics so i thought he writes them mostly
Does anybody else love the breakdown at the end of the song. When Jon mess is screaming layers. And then the guitars go into some dissonance. It's so beautiful.
+Mccobgobbler lol, thanks, I need to update my picture sometime but I've been too lazy to lol. Check out my channel sometime, I used to post shitty covers, but lately I've been working on mastering my vocals to prepare for making much better covers than I've ever made. Check it out! :)
I always adored the guitar at 2:52. I always got the feeling off of it that there may still be happiness in the song, but when Jon starts screaming again it just reminds you how dark the world can be, and that there isn't always goodness to be found.
Lowkey a Master Piece. Honestly the only DGD Song i listen to nowadays. Theyre an amazing band but this one toon just hits me some type of way and the 5 minute outro is so cold. Its like going from pure anger to silently crying. Amazing work of art.
It's so interesting that despite the fact their earlier years with Jonny were probably their darkest, this album is the darkest Sounding. I also realised that I think this era gets overlooked the most because despite still being angsty emo vibes, it's musical sensibility was their most mature and Serious - passionate, in a melancholy sort of way...
so Uneasy Hearts is really People You Know pt. 2, that's why this song is almost all unclean, and Uneasy almost all cleans. Oh and the fact they sing "Uneasy Hearts" at the end of this song. Playing this song then Uneasy right after sounds incredible
Oh girl all that you need my love. You are everything girl, No one turns you on. Look with sound...I see you coming true And sweeping for you and me, For you and me with no echo sound. Uneasy hearts weigh the most... Oh uneasy hearts weigh the most! Uneasy hearts weigh the most... Oh uneasy hearts weigh the most! Maybe I can find a place for you, With all the things you do. I have no clue, Watching you... Lately I have been hoping to... Think of what to say, Why'd they go far away? Uneasy hearts weigh the most... Oh uneasy hearts weigh the most! Uneasy hearts weigh the most... Oh uneasy hearts weigh the most!
I believe these are the lyrics at the end of the song. "Uneasy hearts weigh the most, oh uneasy hearts they weigh the most... Maybe i can find a place for you with all the things you do, i have no clue, watching you, lately i, have been hoping to, in thought of what to say, what they don't find out"
Pretty lyrics, full of Loyalty, honesty, trust, respect, humility and sincerity. It's hard to understand the meaning when you haven't had enough with life. The conclusion it's the accurately as posible: "We are all so full of fucking shit".
I do 44_3 6th . If you have to go . I'll post the same time as the first to review 50th anniversary of your life . The first one to be the first to review and retain incoming and a few days , and the other side 65 I am going through . I'm not going on . I'm a big fan of your
You know I had an impression of this song before but hearing it after being a teenager shit really does my head in but it’s so honest. It brings you back down to earth, sounds like something you hear after bottling it up after so long, sometimes you grow up believing you need to be strong and don’t know how to pull it off. We’re all still human, don’t carry the weight of the world!
Been listening to this since 2010 still listening Jon’s lyrics and the ending is too good. And listening to dgd growing up seems like Jon sums up life well right now
The thing I love most about music is that it lives on. Even if the group isn’t together anymore, even if time moves on, the music can still touch someone’s heart.
i don't even know what to say besides this is most beautiful rage-full song ive ever heard. ive been using this song as sort of therapy for years screaming along to the first half to let my anger out and letting the second half of the song soothe me. jon mess you are beautiful angry man you are such a gift
Trying to explode! (I am Insane!) I am a fallacy! (A sign above...) As you see… (But it still meant to…) My heart is beating. (Dream or drink...) Empty! (But fucking up!) I am so… (In the end...) I am so sick! (Losing our sight.) I’m trying to live. (For now...) Burning my body (What should we do now?) Give me… (Where’s our triumph?) Poison to drink! (...) With anger in my mouth... (Falling…) Live! (Fall!)
Fuck dude I've been trying to make out this part forever and now that I just filled it in with these words while listening, this song fucks me up even more
I'm listening back to this again. Still I'm thinking the same thing. It's really like these lyrics is about Jonny Craig. I mean I like his music but he really was a douche towards Dance Gavin Dance and their fans. When he lied about that he needed money for his mother who would've had a car accident but she never had one. And when Jonny said he was selling Mac books to fans but he never gave them. Just because of his addiction. Well,I guess I'll never really know if this song is based on his actions towards Dance Gavin Dance.
If you piss off "People You Know" the consequences just drag you're friends/band mates apart. It's the sad truth. I still think they come back together for one last tour. Time heals you the most.
DGD is coming to chicago and ive been to 3 of there past shows hoping they would play this song NOV 21st im making a big banner saying "PEOPLE YOU KNOW". IT BETTER WORK!
This song makes me feel so many emotions. I feel too much to explain in a 500 character comment. Dance Gavin Dance, you are one of the reasons my life is worth living.
every second of this song gives me chills, man. dgd is arguably the greatest post-hardcore band of all time, the rest of the genre is so stale and uninspired. every album dgd has ever released has been absolutely phenomenal, not many can come close to the legacy dgd is creating.
@Dridgeism the reason jonny dosen't = drugs and sex the reason jon dosen't= he's just having fun being serious all the time gets you down and i think he's over the whole i hate the world stage and is now onto the whole im just going to have fun :)
I know right? His screams on this song have an intense level of emotion almost like he's screaming right in your face, telling you to wake up to the fucked up world we live in..
The anger in this can transfer into me so easily. especially since i've got so much shit going on at the moment, thank god for the last part though; it can calm me down so easily
This song bleeds fucking emotion, whether you like screams or not, whether you like this genre or not. You can tell this song was written with passion, something many songs lack these days, Jon did it right.
@@droptherapy2085 He never sounded bad, but idk why but his side project doesn't get to me. Honestly any of the side projects the band members did aren't as good as their early DGD work idk why.
You know shits gonna be serious when Jon's lyrics actually makes sens.
LOL
Hahaha I was just thinking this!!! I was like this is the only song that makes any sense!!

The way Jon has developed his Vocal's just pushes that idea further.
this song is essentially a skramz song
nah they're bad vocals
also bad for you
hence why he stopped doing them this way
You know will swan did the screams on this album right?! Lol
No, thats on Happiness b
