This is hands down the most useful video I've seen on air pressure and how it actually affects the paint application with the airbrush.
I've got one of those pressure valves that you can connect directly to the airbrusb quick connector so I usually set it to 1.5-1.8 bar and never really change it. Depending on the mixture and my needs I can really quickly adjust with this valve :)

Thanks these are great. Im eyeing off my first airbrush from you guys (after weeks of videos and blogs). Thinking of stretching to a Giraldez Infinity. I want minimal hassles and maximum opportunity to grow.

@@harderairbrush well I ordered the Giraldez over the weekend direct off your website. Grabbed a basic air tank equipped compressor. Looking forward to figuring out how to get the pressure right, techniques for priming miniatures, and then work up to actual painting techniques.
@@jasonprince8016 Fantastic! When you're just getting started, separate learning how to use the airbrush from learning how to prepare paint by using food dye as your first colour. It doesn't clog and it's a very easy way to spend many hours learning the control of the airbrush before adding the complications of paint. I'm liking these videos. Do you need to change air pressure when changing needle size, for instance going from 0.5 to 0.2?
We think of the 0.15mm set up more as a speed change - additional detail on top of the level of the 0.2mm hard to discern, but the 0.15mm makes it more accessible by slowing the paint delivery down. Therefore, if you really want to maximise the character of the 0.15mm, experiment with a little less pressure. With regard to the 0.4mm set-up - to get "regular" performance with that, around 2 bar (28psi) works great, but it's particularly mega at those stipple effects when you drop the pressure right down.
I mainly use a H&S Evolution with a 0.4 for large parts and switch to 0.2 for small parts ie wheel centers. I get a good smooth finish with the 0.4 but not so good with the smaller needle on small parts. Is this down to air pressure or technique. I use automotive paints. Many thanks.

Hi there. Thank you once again for such great videos, they have been a great help in my airbrushing journey, also thank you for the amazing feedback that you give quickly, great customer service which is hard to find these days. May I ask a question please? The little screw in the air valve (goldish colour, evolution) how far should it be screwed IN or OUT and what effect does it have on the air pressure. I have not played with it since I bought my air brush, but just wonder if it did anything other that hold the spring for the pin
Hey Mark - slightly embarrassing and more than a little ironic that I've taken three weeks to reply to your compliment to our customer service - so my apologies!!! The little screw under the airvalve is ONLY to adjust the spring tension on the up/ down movement of the trigger. Adjust to preference :-) W

Warwick do you set your air pressure with the trigger pushed down?
That's a great question, Mike. No all the pressures quoted are set with the trigger not pushed down.
Am I right in thinking that you should set the air pressure with the trigger open so that it accurately reflects the pressure you'll be spraying at? With the trigger closed the gauge will read higher.
Generally, I always talk about pressure set with the trigger closed. Static pressure. Dynamic pressure is a different number, typically 5-8 psi lower.
