@maltese 84 That would've been bad. Fact of the matter is, NEC was a tech giant and every family had a Famicom. There wasn't any room for Sega, many Japanese kids didn't even know Sega had a console and knew them from the arcades (which were still booming in Japan)
I'm probably one of the few people who dosen't get tired of Green Hill and it's many iterations, as long as it results in another awesome remix, this one is no exception :D

@@Louis-wp3fq I concur, nothing beats playing Sonic 1 on a model 1 Genesis with headphones and the volume cranked all the way up! Well, maybe except for Sonic 2 and it's soundtrack being a complete bop as well.
This is a ridiculously good rearrangement, I love all the wonderful details you added, super high-quality stuff! I feel like this would've fit better in Sonic Mania's Green Hill Zone than the arrangement that's in the game
This is absolutely stunning, and I'm going to have it on repeat all day today. It has bass and sharp details that you just don't hear in Genesis tunes. I wonder if a lot of composers back then weren't trying to account for the poor quality medium on which the music would be played (i.e. shitty TV speakers). Most of this song would be utterly inaudible coming out of a cheap 14" CRT hooked up via RF adapter.
Most likely limited by the sound effects taking channels. The same could be said with the C64, games didn't start to make amazing stuff on it until later in its life but often at the cost of removing all sound effects.
Holy crap that's beautiful! Using the same FM instrument for the ring jingle in there just adds a lovely layer of chemistry to the song! That bass is godly too! I wanna play Out Run to this music and go cruising! Super stuff!
they probably could've done it back in the day, but FM synthesis was pretty new back then and these days there's a lot better sound drivers for the megadrive. (and there's still new sound drivers being made every now and then.)
@@LondenTower it's really more down to mastering making FM patches as it's pretty difficult to get the sound you want out of it as a lot of it has to be thought of in advance (such as the algorithm you use) unless you want to be constantly tweaking things over and over

Judging by the channel displays, it fits the limitations. Sound effects would cut some sounds tho, most likely the ring sounding part of the song would be cut out a lot. Fittingly, that would mostly be rings cutting it :3
Well, the original track is fantastic and one of the most iconic tunes of the 16-bit generation so I was really wondering how you would remix that! Aaand... you did great. On every fronts. At first I wasn't convinced about the short opening (I thought that it wasn't flashy or just not loud enough, unlike the original) but then I liked it. It's just that it's more subtle now and those little pseudo-bells are a delight. And your newly arranged lead notes as well as all the added details are pure bliss! Awesome work man 👍
I hate how the UA-cam notif system couldn't remind me of this 4 days ago. Oh well. Here to say that this is yet again another beautiful rearrangement of yours. This is so much more lively and energetic than the original, especially with the far better drums and use of FM echoing.
I intentionally put off watching this video for a month since it dropped on my sub box, because I like Savaged's works so far and was afraid his Green Hill Zone would turn out too different for my taste. I regret this decision now. This sounds very nice, clear, and even a bit more lively than the original!
I swear and I should have said this 2 days ago but, EVERY time i start re watching your videos it always seems like 20 minutes go by and you upload a new track. i swear your watching me :D
The crazy thing with this remix is that, you kept the clearness of the Genesis sound chip, but the samples and the overall complexity of the sound feels like it's straight from an SNES. Literally the best of both worlds.
