David , you hit the nail on the head regarding the privacy issue in regards to little Lucia. An issue most people dont think about when they post their children's images all over there social media platforms and (something I didn't think of) even uploading their photos to Google Photos or Drive etc. which Google uses in their training data.

Agreed. Agents don’t have to be super powerful, just need spatial reasoning and good integration with all my google apps

I believe the key to making AI accessible to everyone is to utilize open-source models.
This enables users to fine-tune their own data rather than relying solely on vast amounts of pre-existing data.
10:04 it's called in context learning or fine-tuning.
You can insert all of your data in every prompt, and it's exactly like it's fine tuned on your data. 😊

Contextwindow IS NOT VIABLE. Its a expensive cruch. Retreaving and using relevant context is cheaper and more usefull and actually viable is it enoth? No having Models train in realtime instead of being froßen and being able to pull relevant information permanently in any context like a human is the ultimate goal but i dont see us going there anytime soon. (Basically you need to know what context is needed so the model pulls the correct one as a simple semantic search of the text often does not pull all the relevant results and focuses only on that part. No putting your preferenzes into the Context. No using and referenzing related close things that are not direktly liked to the Topic. It cant retrive and like memory as organically as a human and probably never will.)
@@eintyp4389 What exactly are you talking about, though? I think there are different use cases. Consumers will use the context on their personal life, all the stuff they uploaded and managed through Google services. Businesses will use it for company internals. Researchers will use it for all their documents. All are different kinds of expert systems.
I agree when it comes to this nonsense of AGI and the "universal" agent. Not sure why the host thinks that is so great. That is entirely against the concept of agents, as I understand it. But it would become viable if it somehow was an infinite context window. And if we somehow were able to align the whole world, all of its infrastructure, everything. Why anyone believes this is feasible, I am not sure. But it is very simple for these "geniuses". We just make it regional, pretending we are the whole world and the rest are evil savages.
And then everyone does that and they all call it several different instances of AGI. Forming new religions around our regional superintelligence.

You never used 1mil tokens context window and you never will need to. Someone will solve the memory problem but bigger context windows aint it.
And for your life training on your explicit data is the better option. Atleast in the longterm finetuning is cheaper than copy pasting your entire live worth of data when ever you generate a prompt.
Hope this points out what i mean.
@@eintyp4389 I could easily think of using 1m tokens as an input in order to ask some pointed questions, but I cannot fine-tune my own AI. Not right now, anyway. Sure, I would need to be careful not to waste money. Should not be chatting around.
For consumers. If I have to search for hours through my stuff, but can get it with one prompt, then it's easily cheaper (IF I can get it with one prompt, that is the important part). You cannot expect them to train a model. We are going to assume that there is nothing to keep you from sending useless prompts. Maybe the context window is dynamic, based on settings. Maybe internally it works via agents, pulling the context, like photos, emails, contacts, etc.
Or maybe Google just sells your data and makes up for the cost by that.
For businesses. They could internally throttle it, such that only valuable prompts are made.
It's probably gonna be a huge waste of money, because none of that is done or adhered to, but hey...progress? We waste money left and right. Like, REAL waste...don't even think this could be anywhere near that.

how? in the google demo you could annotate and ask about specific stuff in the video. (although it's a feature that could be added by openai later) other than that there didn't seem to be any difference between google and openai's demo.
I think if they released project Astra with better audio, it’d much better than gpt4o simply due to its spatial understanding, and the fact that it’s actually seeing video, whereas gpt4o just takes snapshots

FYI The Gemini app is only available on certain models. I ran into the same problem of not being able to find it on my Samsung tablet right after I installed in on my Samsung A21.

Restricting availability is just dumb. If I can get it now from one source, why would I wait a month or 6 to get it from Google, Anthropic, etc.? They're just shooting themselves in the foot.

On the app there’s a slider to switch between them.
Google Gemini is in the app store, but it wants to take the place of assistant without providing all the functionality of assistant. I installed it and uninstalled it today
23:40 HAH! Yes, in the U.S., we can literally just place the item back in the box and put it on our doorstep. Amazon will come take it away. I once bought an 8-piece set of dinner chairs. I didn't like the color, so I just piled them up on my front lawn, and the next day they were gone. (And the money was returned to me immediately.)
Totally agree about AI Studio and Vertex being a UI disaster. I hate using it but the tools are powerful.
I live on the east coast and I've never had someone pick up a product that I wanted to return. Usually you just get email a return code and drop it off at the store.
And Yahoo finance now shows he is correct...we are each individuals.
For the returns for example, I know that if I am getting a Amazon package and I also have a return for them, when the delivery driver drops off my package I can give the return to them too.
You can probably do it whenever you want, if you go out when their truck is outside and just give it to them.

Google has too many geeks that can code but no one who can make product that relate to the average person! Microsoft and Google screwed the pooch also with AR/VR by letting their accountants say it was an area costing too much money! Love them or the them, Apple will capitalize on all of those mistakes!

I suppose that they are talking about online shopping? You give your returned goods to a parcel service and they send it back. They also can pick it up, because they come by every day, anyway. Like, half a dozen different deliverer trucks. Every single day except Sunday and (most) holidays. I am from Germany. That's how it works. Does it not work like that in the rest of the EU?. Just goes to show how unified we really are...

Good one. But it's probably because we all know that these regulations are not meant to protect us from those companies getting the data so much as they are meant to blackmail them into compliance...and then giving our data to the authorities, instead. That whole process is baked in for the USA, anyway. They have the authorities practically sitting in - or co-founding - the company, directly.
Long context will ruin your budget if you use it. It will unlock your wallet instead of use cases.

Open source is the way to go as it will make regulation possible where private AI models will not.
Even open source models are problematic in the EU, unless your prepared to run it yourself locally. That's fine for the smaller models, but problematic for the largest models.
Why would a company give away their work?

This is so bad... I was expecting this. They want everything. Your whole life. This is why this will not be available in Europe. In this case I am happy about the regulations.
It will not be available in the EU. Which is NOT Europe. But don't worry, they will get the green light. Once the EU has made the deals with Google and Meta and...they get your data. I am sure they will treat it nicely and never share it or use it in any way they are not meant to...right?

i love the glasses
Not a huge fan of the glasses. I'm pretty sure those glasses did not have a display like they showed in the video. It's a better form factor than the humane pin, but I still think handheld device with screen is better. Of course, when they have heads-up display, and more importantly augmented reality, all that changes. It doesn't even have to be good AR, just being able to highlight objects and display text or images is fine. Of course, the biggest drawback to glasses is battery size. We need to unlock some new battery tech first.

David you need to remember that it took you a long time to get to where you're at, your understanding of AI in mind. They need to have consideration for damage control, slooowly easing people into the AI world so its not too scary. Its the right thing to do as long as you care about people... Just remember, most of the world still doesn't have much of a clue when it comes to this technology... They hear the term "AI", and in thier minds they go, "Oh I know a thing or two about that and no thank you! Not for me get me out of here!"... Gotta find ways to make those people feel more comfortable so that AI can pop off.
The thing about progress is that you don't have to wait for the older generation to accept new tech. Life is relentless and the new replaces the old. When electricity became available, for example, I am sure some older people were against it, but they weren't around for long. It's not that they changed their minds or got used to it. It's that they died off. I think it was Max Plank who said, "Progress happens one funeral at a time." Cynical, yes, but true. The difference now is that change is happening too quickly for the natural order of things to propel humanity forward. There is a delicate balancing act between accelerated progress and keeping older generations comfortable.

@@avijit849 It seems you did not try the Edge browser, I have a very long experience with all browsers, and the only browser that convinced me since last year is Edge, it's far ahead of any other browser like Chrome, Firefox, etc. Regarding the useless Google CEO, technologies do not care about the names or titles and wait for no one, or it will be replaced like Nokia, that is what we can see, ChatGPT replaced long old classic search.
