When I was stung in between my 2 knuckles I kept bleeding. Then began to lose colour with my visuals. Then they I fell unconscious. The pain was incredible when I came too. They raced me off to a camp nearby and stuck my hand straight in hot water. Felt like I was hallucinating. What a ride. One I don't recommend.

Nobody here has brought up the term 'native' except you. And indigenous is not a derogatory term, it is an accurate one. It is defined in the dictionary as 'existing in/inhabitating a land from earlies times, and/or prior to the arrival of colonists'. ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people(s)’, ‘Indigenous Australians’ or First Nations peoples are all equally appropriate. As for 'native means not of the land' - sounds like you made that one up mate. @@CrazyWhiteVanDriver
I lived there (Muralug island) in the 70's and got hit by a blue spotted ray right thru the achilles when I stood on one, the gland in my groin swelled up like a golf ball for about 2 weeks and the pain was severe that's for sure. but I came good with no residual effects.
It's amazing how humans have found cures and treatments in nature over thousands of years. Seriously, who was the first person to get stung and thought " hey let try rubbing some cockroaches on the sting to see if it helps".

we went to Gulf Shores Alabama every year for manyh, many years as a kid to young adult. but 1 year the Rays were bad and my dad a surgeon helped a little girl that stepped on one and direct hit to palm of her foot and she was hysterical! i was taught to shuffle feet through sand and not make direct walking normal steps when touching bottom. i spooked a lot but no stings THANK GOD!
Always carry some phenerghan the antihistamine it helps wont stop the venom or the pain but if you have any allergy it helps and it helps with the nausea and symptoms calms you down too. I know been there with marine stings and other stuff it sucks probably lucky the barb went through and came out maybe got a bit less venom than you could have got.
If you slide your feet while walking in the water on the beach it will scare off stingrays without them stinging you. If you step on top of one you are for sure getting stung by it.
Plus probably all that fartin around directly after the sting with the “cockroach antidote” theory and general grab-assin with boys was ill-advised. Prob should’ve hit the road a bit quicker than that I reckon 🤷♂️. Glad he made a recovery though!
I had one of those rays sting right through the back of my ankle. Definitely won’t be doing that ever again ! Initial pain was nothing bad but 10 mins later I was cactus 🌵 and in a lot of pain. like a bottle sting the pain spreads to your lymph nodes and makes you feel incredibly nauseous

If you get stung by a stingray, submerge that area is hot water. It will take the pain away. Need to flush the area out really well with saline and then iodine. Seen it done when a buddy and I were shark fishing and he got stung in the ankle by a stingray. Once we got to the ER, they placed his foot and ankle it hot water not boiling water just hot water, within 20 seconds he said he felt dumb by coming in. Nurse said remove your foot from the water, he was like nah i’m good lol.
All 4 Adventure, I got hit by an Eagle Ray and the barb punctured my knuckle and went into the bone. Pain was on another level I can't describe. It took two years to fully heal.
poor Steve ,couldnt find and cockroaches but then steve made a career out of tormenting animals and I think the only person in history killed by a ray.
Hot water has an effect on the protein in the venom, reduces the pain significantly. A couple of Mersyndol and really hot water, (hot as you can stand it to be) and the pain is bearable. Been there.....it's not good.
Yes hot water for marine stings I copped it from a small scorpion fish and it got bad I got sick i made it home in agony and sat in a hot shower with the shakes and sweats for an hour but the hot water eased the pain and symptoms. I also had an anti histamine that helped.
At the start of the UK lockdown, I took my dogs in the car to an area where I was also checking on some cattle. There is a small car park which can attract litter which I clear. On this day there were 6 or 7 black bin bags full leaning against the wall. I cussed the person who had dumped this lot. Crammed them into the car. On reaching home I opened the first sack to see what was recyclable to find that it was all rubbish gathered on the beach which was a stiff trek down and even harder coming back! Months later at the same place I met a man with several children all bringing sacks up from the shore. I asked him about dumping the socks in the car park. He said he couldn’t get it all in his car with the kids but when he returned they were gone!

You were lucky to walk away from a Box jellyfish sting mate. I'd take the stingray all day
From what I've heard the jellyfish is more painful despite the ray having a barb
It's not more painful at all if you get enough tentacles on you.
