This is by far the best Sound Legacy video. I've seen this video at least 50 times and it amazes me every time. He talks about why he chose the cymbals that he has and what he likes about them and the video cuts between the interview and him playing to show exactly what he means. Fantastic work at the marketing team! This is their best work!
DrumboiBanne that's debatable. There are tons of other awesome Sound Legacy videos. Eg: Tre Cool (which is my favorite), Jay Weinberg, just to name a couple.
I got the Thin Overhammered, and Holy shit it sounds SOOO good! It's the best cymbal I've ever heard (haven't heard the Renaissance yet Hahah). It's an amazing crash!! Not too loud and it sounds so freaking good it's insane!! Would seriously use it on every kit, no matter the size of the other cymbals. Jesus, it sounds so good!!
Damn, he totally dissed Meinl saying he always used zildjians on records. Im a both type of guy. I love both zildjian and Meinl. I can’t pick between them they both have their perks and flaws
common for endorsements. its usually written into the contract if they are endorsing live performances only, freeing them up to use others on recordings
Jeremy Dunbar on the record Lost In The Sound Of Separation he used Meinl cymbals to record the album back in '08. For Define The Great Line, back in '06, he used Zildjian to record the album. For what I know, the majority of drummers, when recording in the studio, they don't normally record with what they endorse. They record with what the studio provides. For example: if the studio has Zildjian cymbals and a Gretsch kit, that's what you'll use to record the album...unless you talk with the sound engineers or someone who works at the studio and you say you would like to record with what you endorse or with what you play live.
He mixes jazz, funk, and rock all in to one unique style. He writes simple, yet clever and unique drum parts that stand the test of time. Go listen to Define The Great Line and tell me that's not genius.
Aaron AltKid yeah he did in the beginning before the Meinl deal for the majority of his later years in underoath. even in Reinventing your exit's music video you can clearly see he's using a Zildjian K ride. they're both great companies but I'd still love to own a pair of each someday
I know that! But they both did the tour together and I was wondering if he would be next since they are both zildjian artists and just did this tour together.
If you watch the documentary for Lost in the Sound of Separation, Matt Goldman (producer and drum tech) says he used almost all Truth Drums... and MEINL cymbals :) I believe FatedCircle knows what he's talking about.
yeah cause they offered him the best artist deal and even made him custom cymbals at times. but I remember even at the height of his Meinl career going to their practice space and seeing a ton of zildjian cymbals and even a few paiste that he said they used for recording.
@@alexfraley often times endorsements like that don't require them to use the brand at all times. They require them to be used in advertisements or performances because the whole point is having people recognize your brand. You can use whatever you want in the studio.
I prefer more his Meinl sound those 14" Byzance dark hi hat was lovely !!! (but if he is glad with the "Z" even Daniel Davidson change his Sabian) I like Zildjian cymbals but for me Meinl have more colourful sounds.
Santiago Mosquera gotta say that for In Completion the Sabian cymbals were ace and couldn't have been more appropriate for the song. Byzances would have been too washy and in the way imo. Daniel used a really great pair of cymbals for that record
True. Making as many records as he has touring for 10 years. Then Touring with Paramore playing number one hits is and being the lead singer of the first band is very much "overvalued" lol righttttttttt

DrumboiBanne do you know any of the songs?

But why did he play a Meinl in Paramore?
Aaron gillespie is on of my favorite drummer
beast on the drums, cool kid. I'm a fan
Wonder how many shows he can get out of those.
Coen Neuhold Plenty. Zildjian cymbals are built to last!
Didn't he mostly use Meinl? His website still says so: www.aarongillespiedrums.com/kitdetails/
How could he say he always made records with Zildjian?
Jeremy Dunbar he probably used Zildjian in the studio. Endorsers can use other drums/cymbals in the studio and no one would know.

I didn´t know he uses zildjian cymbals.
omar cortes he never really did
Aaron AltKid yeah he did in the beginning before the Meinl deal for the majority of his later years in underoath. even in Reinventing your exit's music video you can clearly see he's using a Zildjian K ride. they're both great companies but I'd still love to own a pair of each someday

kazuki3639 i use 18”
i use a 18 inch cracked sabian AA medium crash on top and a 18” paiste alpha medium crash on the bottom and they sound great
Dude, I've heard of doing 16's, but I've never gotten to try the 17". I bet they are rad.
anyone know what series from Gretsch he is playing? Also, the name of that sweet finish?
Killer!
I'm pretty sure he used meinl cymbals most of his career
I'm pretty sure you're right!
butttttttttt he says for rexording he rented or bought zildy
Does this mean that Connor Denis is next because they were just on this tour together?
Andrew Weiner connors been with zildjian since he joined Beartooth, has nothing to do with them touring together though lol
I know that! But they both did the tour together and I was wondering if he would be next since they are both zildjian artists and just did this tour together.
the cymbal/ head destroyer is back in action
Oh yeah !
AARON IS ONE OF THE COOLEST GUY I NEVER MET
Very underrated drummer
Petar Pavasović yeah not even
Underoathed I would say ;)
I guess he uses Zildjian from the very beginning of Underoath later then changed to Meinl for the rest of his career with Underoath.
1:21 what song is this?
Its the bridge of "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door"
Thanks
I love his love for Jesus man. Keep shinning bright with your gifts that the Lord gave you man. Truly inspirational.
Is that a 22 k light??
24” K light Ride
Anyone know the first song?
Meinl Pure Alloy China It’s called Breathing in a new mentality :)
Brianna Martinez what are all of the songs?
Now will never get that meinl signature ride!!!
2:08.... Jesus.
Woooaaahhh what happen
Aaron is talking out of his ass. He used Meinl for a HUGE portion on his career.
FatedCircle he said for his records. Watch the making of videos for the UO records before you "talk out your ass"
If you watch the documentary for Lost in the Sound of Separation, Matt Goldman (producer and drum tech) says he used almost all Truth Drums... and MEINL cymbals :) I believe FatedCircle knows what he's talking about.

What is you doin Aaron Son?
Peter piper picked some Zildjian Cymbals
Aaron ❤🌚

I do have to agree, Meinl has some amazingly diverse cymbals. What's your setup right now?
For most of his time in Underoath he used Meinl Byzance cymbals. lol
He never once recorded with them though they were only use live
Meinl?
looks like Chucky
Basher*
Trump should pass a law which states that No cymbal can excede 300 dollars😂😂
im trying to get like him lol
This guy is overvalued
Adamtotovargas maybe he's not a technical best, but his style is very unique and recognisable

The way he says wash triggers me
He’s a brasher - no dynamics whatsoever.
cszetela1 that's hardcore music for you and underoath still has loads of dynamics.
Steven Turner I hear no dynamics at all in his video.
If you're looking for dynamics this is not the place nor drummer.
Cope Lele he has a jazz mixtape recorded on an iphone 4
It’s almost like he plays in a metal core band
That snare sounds like ass
Everything sounds like ass from Go-Pro cameras
What a waste.
