There are sooo many options for inside-out tracked headsets. The whole market seems to have gone that way so they can con you into buying an AR Devkit. But outside-in and Lighthouse (which functions like outside-in while technically being inside-out) are the superior technology and there are many people who refuse to downgrade from their Rift CV1, Vives and Index who have had no options available.

Well, comfort is the appeal. Many VR enthusiasts play tethered PCVR because it is just overall better. Now, we have this small headset that could be an easy upgrade for someone with an HTC VIVE or Valve Index.
It being lightweight for desktop vr seems counterintuitive. If they put a battery on it or the strap and integrated inside out tracking it would have been great. 1k pricing is way too much

Really nice, as this would be perfect for my motion simulator, as the front weight of the G2 and 8KX that I own causes them to be bounced out of perfect focus quite often, but at $1800 AUD would like to see more actual user feedback before pulling the pin.
yea while the reverb G2 is a little "light".. i find it uncomfortable and can slide if it's not tightened. i want something very very light.. the g2 gives me a bit of a headache heh
Hyping this is idiotic, it has 0 resale value because of the custom fit. This makes it incredible expensive, and incredibly stupid. Its essentially single use consumer waste. How can people be this clueless about the importance of making things last? The importance of second hand markets?
Anything that doesn't have inside out tracking is immediately dead to me. Could be the most amazing headset in the universe with tech that won't be matched for decades and I still won't touch it if it requires me to go setting up lighthouses or the like.
THIS IS AMAZING! I have a massive IPD of 75mm, to have a custom headset would be a dream and I wear glasses. I have the base stations and controller, and I currently use a Pimax 8KX. I would definately buy this.
I don't care about size. I would wear a frickin helmet made of bricks for a bigger FOV! Also, miniaturization drives the costs/prices up, so that's another downside to making these smaller and smaller!
Yeah, I’m with you on fov. I can live with a big HMD so long as I’m getting human eye clarity and an fov that isn’t like I’m wearing a scuba diving mask
It also drives innovation of form factors instead of settling for the current trend. We need people doing stuff like this or we never get to the end...we just end up with overpriced, over hyped pimax headsets that are a pain to get to work properly.
For a grand… nah fam.. really cool but.. low refresh rate, not the best Fov. Oled panels is dope and resolution is impressive. But nahh, I’d rather have more Fov and a higher refresh rate.
At last a DP pancake!!! :) Tho couldn't the foam padding for each person be removable? I hope prescription lenses will be removable too as will become a door stop when ur prescription changes!
Better is not always ..... better. I own a Q2, PSVR 2 and a Reverb G2 along with a Rift S. I use my Rift S the most because its the simplest to use and by far the most comfortable. Not to mention while actually playing the visuals on all these headsets look about the same. I expected a huge improvement over my Rift S when I bought my G2 and the difference is small. Of course I'll keep buying more headsets because I love VR. I want to own them all but my Rift S is still my go to and its 6 years old!
Impressive specs, for me completely destroyed by the need to use basestations. 1st because of individual reasons (no way it would make sense to install base stations at my pc), 2nd because i think there might me a reason for valve outsourcing the production. Adding > 600€ for Knuckles and 2 basestations under this circumstances just isn't aviable option. That makes the hmd only attractive, if you already own this stuff.
@@mcmadness110 You seem to know alot about me and the future of lighthouse tracking. LH2 has been outsourced to HTC. According to BL it is uncertain, if Valve will produce Lighthouse 3.0 or some sort of camera tracking. Accuracy is an important feature, but there are others too. Inside/Out like in the QProControllers might be a valid alternative for many people ;-) But anyways: Since the bigscreen hmd needs LH, you might be right.
I don’t know, inside out tracking seems to be the new standard. Also wireless streaming from your PC is a nice perk. I still have an Oculus CV1. I’m waiting for the perfect headset. Sony implemented HDR. Why is that not catching on?
@@gumzster I get that, I just hate how three of my USB 3.0 ports are being used and I have to string cables around the living room for the sensors. Maybe they’ll improve upon inside out tracking in the future.
@@gumzster Yeah for sims you'd see very little benefit to them. But each controller has 3 cameras and its own micro processors, so the controllers are self tracking with little assistance from headset. So you dont get those micro shakes
@@gumzster But SteamVR tracking is also inside out... There are only 2 VR kits with outside in tracking: OG Rift and PSVR1. But SteamVR is so called "marker based inside out", the difference is that for the controllers and headset to properly asses their position they need light emitted from the base stations, but the base stations don't do any tracking at all. After all they're called lighthouses, because they're precisely that, they emit light, but they don't do any tracking. I personally don't experience any shaking on neither of my current headset, be it SteamVR lighthouse tracked Varjo Aero or camera based Quest Pro. Both are pretty good. If it's shaking there must be something wrong. Could be not enough light, objects getting in the way, other light sources etc.
I can't imagine the price being half way through this video.. custom made? lol. Probably super novelty.. Not really into this customizing thing.. sounds unnecessary for most people and will probably jack up the price plus it's only fitted for you and no one else. Then you need the outdated base stations. The wire setup also looks silly.. they have it dangling from the face? They couldn't think of something better than that? lol I mean it's cool im not hating, small form factor and a great OLED screen is what we all want.. Just hope this becomes more standardized soon.
I think lighthouse tracking is already dead, especially with the new quest pro controllers which track themselves so even when you put your controllers out of sight(behind you etc.) it doesn't lose tracking and even with the normal controllers it just has gotten to a point where it's so good that pinning yourself to just one location with expensive lighthouses is just not worth it. Inside out tracking is the way and every headset without it is destined to fail.
Touch Pro controllers get close to Lighthouse levels of tracking but only be putting a smartphone-grade SoC in each controller resulting in abysmal battery life and high cost. There's no need to re-invent the wheel. Meta already have a brilliant tracking system in CV1 Constellation but they unfortunately abandoned it leaving Lighthouse the only inter-operable, and outside-in-ish tracking system on the market. Lighthouse is over-engineered and kinda expensive but still better than any other option.
As a longtime VR veteran it is intriguing. Excellent form factor, nothing said about audio speakers and I absolutely hate the quests fov, love how my index forms around my entire eye area as well, tethered isn't a deal killer but $1000. for panels and resolution alone well that's wayyy too steep but for a hand full of enthusiast or collectors. These are still early days and it's exciting to see new, inventive ways to do VR, my take is we still don't have anything that has it all. An hmd with those pants and resolution, index audio speakers and mic, FOV is still a pillar of immersivenes in VR but for the price and limited features, well that cuts out the vast VR public as well as most of us veteran users. Excellent way to keep the tech interesting for those who have that kind of disposable cash.
As a pcvr owner everything looks perfect except for one thing, I am used to a wireless connection via airlink and now that is gone, which is a big negative!
Is this the start of a new era in VR!? Just like the Index was ground breaking, then Quest 1, I hope BSB will start a new flood of high end hardware and games, that will push low end stuff like the Quest to step it up!
OMG, There are way too many of those already. Why no one concentrates on FOV (Apart from the shitty Pimax headsets) It seems as if everyone thinks its better to get smaller then more immersive. In my opinion I'd pick Index (even though it was released in 2019 and has a whole bunch of old technology in it) over any VR headset right now when it come to AAA Vr gaming. It is still an amazing headset.. And yes the resolution is shit and yes its bigger and much heavier and connects with a cable, but when it comes to hard core gaming there is nothing better and more stable(meaning it doesn't require for you to fiddle around before you jump in to playing a game) right now... It's been almost 5 years since its release and no one could get anything even remotely close to Index (In terms of an over all GAME IMMERSION and STABILITY with great tracking system, refresh rate of 120Hz, and FOV of 144... Not to mention comfortably) I just don't get why they keep spitting out those over-priced ($1,800 AUD in Australia for Bigscreen Beyond) tiny headsets that aren't going to immerse you as well as Index did when it comes to hardcore gameplay. I mean if I need a tiny VR headsets for flat 2D games or movies, I might as well just use FLOW for $700 or better yet or Nreal air for $500.... way cheaper. I really miss the 144 FOV... the only Headset that would come close is PS5 VR2, but unfortunately you can only play PS5 games on it and it would cost you a lot more then $2000 if you don't have PS 5 to start with. I guess VR has hit its high for now... Maybe in 5 - 10 years time they'll get a 144 FOV or wider with a stable tracking, 120hz or higher FPS game play and a decent resolution headset for the public. As a VR/XR enthusiast I would pay $2000 - $3000 for something like that (providing it works with Steam VR), but unfortunately there is nothing like that out there right now....
It was hard to say nothing. I'm beyond Excited!! Stay tuned for the videos on it!!

I don't think 28ppd is enough for work.
Cool BUT
1) custom made = no second hand market
2) only headset = I need to get the rest - more $
3) $999 just for headset = expencive now when we have Pico 4 and soon Quest3
4) custom made head straps = more $
Over all yeah cool but no not an option for me
Really nice, as this would be perfect for my motion simulator, as the front weight of the G2 and 8KX that I own causes them to be bounced out of perfect focus quite often, but at $1800 AUD would like to see more actual user feedback before pulling the pin.
yea while the reverb G2 is a little "light".. i find it uncomfortable and can slide if it's not tightened.
i want something very very light.. the g2 gives me a bit of a headache heh
Hyping this is idiotic, it has 0 resale value because of the custom fit. This makes it incredible expensive, and incredibly stupid. Its essentially single use consumer waste.
How can people be this clueless about the importance of making things last? The importance of second hand markets?
very small lenses, view angle will be
Anything that doesn't have inside out tracking is immediately dead to me. Could be the most amazing headset in the universe with tech that won't be matched for decades and I still won't touch it if it requires me to go setting up lighthouses or the like.
Then you are not the target audience.
@@mcmadness110 Nope, apparently not :3
THIS IS AMAZING! I have a massive IPD of 75mm, to have a custom headset would be a dream and I wear glasses. I have the base stations and controller, and I currently use a Pimax 8KX. I would definately buy this.
Hi Tyriel! Their website says 90Hz; are you sure it will feature 120Hz? Thanks!
I don't care about size. I would wear a frickin helmet made of bricks for a bigger FOV!
Also, miniaturization drives the costs/prices up, so that's another downside to making these smaller and smaller!
Yeah, I’m with you on fov. I can live with a big HMD so long as I’m getting human eye clarity and an fov that isn’t like I’m wearing a scuba diving mask
there is the pimax if you don't care about the size!
It also drives innovation of form factors instead of settling for the current trend.
We need people doing stuff like this or we never get to the end...we just end up with overpriced, over hyped pimax headsets that are a pain to get to work properly.
@@orionishi6737 it's absolutely incredible what they were able to achieve here!
@@Tyrielwood Has me very excited for the next 5 years in VR
Not the product for me. Standalone, inside out, PCVR compatibility, please.
For a grand… nah fam.. really cool but.. low refresh rate, not the best Fov. Oled panels is dope and resolution is impressive. But nahh, I’d rather have more Fov and a higher refresh rate.
1390 euro without controllers and 90* fow ? Nad wired ?
Why throughout the video I hear some static noise?
As soon as you said Cable and tracking stations I lost interest. Never mind
$1799 AUD + the rest 2k+
How is it only 999 dollars?!?!?!
Looks really nice but whats the Fov?????
90-92, i think thats what i saw on mrtv
At last a DP pancake!!! :) Tho couldn't the foam padding for each person be removable? I hope prescription lenses will be removable too as will become a door stop when ur prescription changes!
the padding is removable yep!
Both the face cushion and prescription lenses attach magnetically. Easy to swap!
Lighthouse is the best tracking accuracy. Not to mention, if you were the target audience, you should already have everything else needed.
@@gumzster The Quest Pro controllers are absolutely amazing for tracking, I find them to be more accurate than my valve index controllers I've used.
Could be not enough light, objects getting in the way, other light sources etc.
there is no perfect headset unfortunately. don't expect before 2030. if ever.
Micro sweet spot like g2? No Eye tracking or "all around sweet spot" like varjo?
I wonder if it can accept an eye tracker.. Thought my next headset would have that. Or maybe it's still not time yet..
this looks so good! but im worried about the fov
I think it was 90-92, i saw on mrtv
Basically almost the same as the queat 2
@@vangoghoff5521 wow that's good for the size
Why are we still stuck at low fov. Lowest should be 120 fov. And on headset tracking should be default.
2024 usb c snapdragon hub in the pocket , this will become the normal -pocket hubs -
Thank god you did the video . NDA signing is kind of huge . Now it's out now I don't have to worry
Is this the start of a new era in VR!? Just like the Index was ground breaking, then Quest 1, I hope BSB will start a new flood of high end hardware and games, that will push low end stuff like the Quest to step it up!
90 degree FOV. 🤣😂
PASS! WE WANT FOV DAMNIT!
