Since I like to main SnS I use the Kunai for ranged damage when I'm too far away if the monster if focusing on another player until I get close enough to melee, since you can throw while still having your sword out it's really good, this also is good for landing damage on the Khezu when it does it's electro field/barrier thing..you can just stand back and chuck kunai at it for some extra damage if you're melee focused and not one of the ranged options. Also you can use the kunai to set off the trick fish thing for a distraction or set off the Flash Fly clusters in the wild, someone else in the community found you can set off the monster roar from a distance with kunai before getting close so you don't get frozen by the initial starting roar they let out when you first find them..infinite kunai are awesome, especially since I like the throwing knives from past games but they were ONLY available in the hunts themselves and you couldn't make any and carry them in..you had to hope you got some..sure the explosive, poison, sleep, and paralyze kunai share the same fate and are only in certain hunts or craftable in Rampage if you get the right item drops..but you have infinite standard kunai to use.
For the kunai, they can also be used an as...okay ranged option for sword and shield. For those cases where it's not really safe to approach the monster. Doesn't do much damage, but some damage is better than no damage.
You can hurt the lizards with any attack for 3 drops
