***At the 1:35 mark I mention that Charlie Cinto caught a 73 pound striper on a Danny Plug. I was mistaken. That fish was caught on a Goo Goo Eyes Plug, which is similar, but not the same as a Danny Plug.
On a Tuesday morning in early June 2017, while fishing a beach on Cape Cod, I happened upon a school of "slob" striped bass willing to crush big Danny Plugs on the surface.
If you have never caught a giant striped bass using a Danny Plug at night, then you will be in for a treat when it finally happens for you! The bites are thunderous!
I had the cameras rolling and captured the best part of the trip on video. The best two fish during this video were 43 and 44 inches, which I entered into the catch and release My Fishing Cape Cod season-long derby.
In the video I include many tips and words of advice for fishing Danny plugs - so make sure to listen closely if you want to give Danny plugs a try.
    Timestamps:
    00:40 - how to retrieve
02:08 - first striper of the night!
05:23 - underwater shot of big bass
    06:15 - landed 43 incher!
    07:14 - successful release
    08:00 - second striper!
09:53 - successful catch and release, 44 incher
10:20 - cool underwater footage of bass swimming away
    Equipment used in this video:
    Van Staal VR175 www.themightyfish.com/product...
Rod: Lamiglas 9' rated for 1-3oz (I don't remember the exact model number)
    3.5oz Yellow Danny Plug www.themightyfish.com/product...
40lb Moss Green Power Pro Braid www.themightyfish.com/product...

This has to be one of the best catch and release videos that I've seen. The way you brought that fish in, kept it in the water and treated it with respect and care... just awesome. The underwater footage of the bass swimming away was great also.

40-50 years ago it wasn’t uncommon to catch stripers that big in the San Joaquin Delta but today if you get anything over 25 pounds it’s considered a monster. Your catch and release is commendable and I wish more California anglers practiced doing so.

Glad you liked the video! I was wearing a Go Pro with a mic on my head. Yes they are good eating, however right now the big ones must be released. Only one striper per trip between 28-35 inches can be kept for consumption in Massachusetts. I'd prefer to eat a 28 incher over a really big fish anyways.

Shining light on the water at night like that will spook the fish bad. It will run them out of the area and put them down. Dont turn on your lights unless you absolutely have to and make sure youre facing away from the water when you do it.
