Hey, Elliot! Some old-school fantasy recommendations for you: -- Robert E. Howard's Conan, Kull and Solomon Kane stories -- Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone, Corum Irsei and Dorian Hawkmoon stories -- David Gemmell's Druss stories in his Drenai Saga -- Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories -- Karl Edward Wagner's Kane stories -- Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow and Thorn Trilogy -- Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain Quintet -- Guy Gavriel Kay's Sarantine Mosaic duology and "The Lions of Al-Rassan" set in the same world -- Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan of the Apes and John Carter of Mars series
I really feel like you should mention A Mask of Mirrors/ the Rook & Rose trilogy as they never get any love except from teeny tiny channels!!! I’ve heard of all of these but I have a feeling other people haven’t heard of Rook & Rose. Just a thought 😅
One of my favourite trilogies! And completely agree with needing more love ❤ but I think Elliot dnfed the series so understandable she does not mention it unfortunately
The Empire of the Wolf is AMAZING! I'm almost finished with Tyranny of Faith now (wow!)- and I'm really looking forward to The Trials of Empire. I think....I like these even better than Joe Abercrombie. There. I said it.
I also like them better than Joe Abercrombie to be honest. You can also try The Vampires of Twilight Castle by Asher Sharol. Different genre, but still shares some of the tropes of most of these books. Very amazing book. Cheers!
I am so pleased The girl from the Other side made it onto your list. I love how sweet the story is and how the artist trusts the reader in the process consuming the images. Another amazing and informative Video ❤
I had a lot of fun with Art of Prophecy (haven't yet read AOD). Winnowing Flame was incredible, unique, and an absolute vibe from start to finish. About halfway through A Girl From the Other Side, digging the eerie, heavy, and yet wholesome vibe. The art style is minimalistic but super expressive. Another vibe here for sure. Loved the video and your choices! Thanks for guiding me to some stupidly awesome books over the past year or two now. ❤🙏
Justice of kings series was well worth it. Art of prophecy is near the top of my tbr. Really enjoyed the wolf book 1. Excites for a good indy book with Rise. Great list!!
I litteraly started The Echoes Saga : Rise of the ranger. I'm half way into it for the first book. I was looking for a fantasy book for a while to restart reading and I can say I really recommend it! I'm looking forward for the rest of the saga ^^ I'm glad to see that you talk about it. Not been long I found your channel and following it ^^ One word I will say, keep up the good work and looking forward for future videos ^^
I’m absolutely in love with Girl from the other side! It breaks my heart with every volume, hurts deeper and deeper. It’s absolutely fantastic manga. Doctor 💔
I am getting my hands on The Trials of Empire soon! I loved the first two books Justice of Kings and Tyranny of Faith so much! I thought it was fantastic! 👏 ❤
The Art of Prophecy was one of my favourite books I read last year. It's so familiar in almost a comforting way if you've watched or read a lot of Wuxia (which I have...so many) but there is plenty of unique stuff too and I just ate it up.
I read The wolf of Oren-Yaro because of you and it's my favorite book. I love it so much. Haven't gotten to read the rest of the story yet but will soon 📖
The Wolf of Oren-Yaro OBSESSED love the story and character and the cover is gorgeous💕📖📖📚❤️❤️💕📖✨✨📙🌹❤️❤️📚📖💕📚💕✨✨📙📙📙📖📖💕📚❤️🌹❤️📚📖📖✨✨📙✨📙🎉✨✨📙📖❤️🌹🌹🌹❤️💕💕💕📖❤️🌹❤️💕💕📖❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹📖💕💕
Can you do one of these but specifically fantasy romance? Or any romance really. I don't do tik tok and even I'm over the flood of "book tok" choices. ❤thanks
Thank you, for doing this video. I do have Empire of the wolf. Planning on reading it soon. Justice of kings is getting alot of hype in the booktube community ( most likely for good reason) but I do plan on picking up almost all of your suggestion I am now excited for my future reads. PLEASE DO MORE OF THEOSE VIDEOS!! Have an awesome day!
Great list. I agree that bunch of these underrated. I have read all of except the first book you mentioned and the art of prophecy and the merceded laxkey series! I love the justice of kings series and echoes saga.
I really enjoyed the Empire of the Wolf, the pacing and plot really kept me hooked. That said, I am not a fan of Helena and often times not a fan of Konrad either, which I found interesting. As I moved through the book, I simultaneously couldn't wait to find out what happens next and wanted to skip past parts of Helena and/or Konrad's parts because I didn't want to hear about them/ hear their dialogue. Really looking forward to getting my library hold for the last one. LOL
My under-hyped recommendations that are worth looking into!!! Adult: Cold Iron/Blackthorne by Stina Leicht. Although I think there's supposed to be a 3rd book but no word of it at all unfortunately...Still worth checking into anyway. YA: Smoke and Key by Kelsey Sutton. This one was fun and gives "corpse bride" vibes? Ish? YA: Give the Dark my love and its sequel by Beth Revis. This also involves forbidden magic/necromancy. Very well done.
I'd like to recommend Wraithblade by S.M. Boyce (Wraithmarked). Three books in the series so far and it's great. Connor and his crew seem to both honor classic fantasy but also feel fresh.
Yes, fitz can be frustrating at times but i love him. I haven't read any fantasy series that has ever made me feel so much for the character as much as the realm of the elderlings.
The Art of Prophecy is currently my favorite read of this year, and Justice of Kings was my favorite of last year! Most of the books you mentioned are on my TBR 😊
I loved the Empire of the Wolf, just finished the trilogy, really good series. I’m excited to check out Rise of the Ranger, whole series sounds awesome.
I'm new to your channel, so I don't know if you've reviewed The Spear Cuts Through Water yet. I read around 100 books a year, and I have my entire life, and nothing comes close to this one. It's the best book I've ever read, from emotion, to plot, to prose, to be left jn awe that someone could even write like that. Books have forever been ruined for me because Simon Jimenez has outdone everyone, past, present, or future.
I finished all of the Empire of the Wolf books and thought I love them, I have to say the ending was not what i had hoped. It is an ending. But it felt a little rushed to me and it just wasnt as epic an ending as the lead up seemed to suggest. Love Richard Swan but the end did take the wind out of my sails a bit.
Rise of the Ranger is excellent. I didn't like book 4 and aren't interested in the rest of the story. The main character at that point reminded me too much of a Terry Brooks character from The Wishsong of Shannara. I returned it.
Is Fitz insufferable in the first book for you? I just listened to it for the first time, and his characterization in that one seemed pretty innocuous/bland it doesn't seem like there's enough there to dislike?
Fitz isn't insufferable. He's very human and has flaws. Sure, he can be frustrating at times, but he goes through so much. Nobody writes character as well as Robin Hobb in fantasy.
I love Justice of kings it is so good and deserves more hype! 🌹💕💕💕❤️✨❤️💕💕🌹❤️✨✨❤️💕💕❤️✨✨❤️🌹💕🌹✨✨❤️🌹❤️📖📙📙📖📚📚📖📖📖📚📚📖📙📖📚📚📖📖📖📖📚📖❤️💕🌹💕❤️📖📖📖💕🌹🌹📙📙📚📚📚🌹💕❤️📖✨📖❤️💕💕❤️
I’ve only read about halfway through the book but to me Helena is portrayed as a very emotional teenager at times which in my opinion isn’t out rightly a bad thing I just hope that as the story goes on she will become stronger and yes cry less or at more meaningful things.

I was hoping this would be mentioned in this video, it was on the forefront of my mind for underhyped adult fantasy.
So glad you included The Girl from the Other Side. It will be a great birthday gift for someone I know.

Not my tbr list getting even longer 😂
NOT THE FITZ SLANDER!!!!!!!!
my baby 😂😂😂
Empire of the Wolf really does deserve SO much more hype. It was fantastic!

Empire of the Wolf books are soooo good
I’m listening to the audiobook for The Monsters we Defy. The narrator is exceptional.
I’m absolutely in love with Girl from the other side! It breaks my heart with every volume, hurts deeper and deeper. It’s absolutely fantastic manga. Doctor 💔

I am reading Art of Prophecy right now and I am loving it. I have never read a Wuxia (I've seen plenty though), and it certainly is a treat.

Are you going to read more Valdamar? The Last Herald-Mage trilogy is so good!
I love this! I’m so tired of seeing the same recommendations/viral all the time! Thanks so much girlie

I devoured Winnowing Flame last year after watching you gush about it repeatedly. I'm so glad I picked it up!
I read Monsters We Defy based on your recommendation and really enjoyed it. I purchased The Ninth Rain on audible and excited to listen to it.
I loved The Monsters We Defy... Very enjoyable book and I highly recommend

I read The Monsters We Defy in a local book club and very much enjoyed the story.
The art of prophecy is such a good concept ❤
Justice of Kings looks like the thing i need
❤📚These all sound so good!
I have read Mercedes Lackey's work and really enjoyed it.
The Echoes Saga has been on my TBR list for a while now. I'll need to start it soon! :)
Legit reas *City if Nightmares* and currently in *Cage of Dreams* because of you. Keep it coming!
The monsters we defy sounds really good to complete my black history month run. I'll try to pick it up later.
I have the Wolf of Oren-Yard coming in from the library in the next day or so. I've heard good things about it so here's to hoping I like it !
I loved the Empire of the Wolf, just finished the trilogy, really good series.

About 70% through the final book in The Empire of the Wolf and they have all been fantastic.
For your consideration; Much beloved, but rarely do I hear anyone talk about Susanna Clarkes 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell'
im so happy i found your channle. There isnt many woman who read fantasy and do UA-cam. Im on a mission

Eyy, have you read Kel Kade's "Kings dark Tidings" series? I think they are very entertaining even though MC is OP
How often does Luna snore?
Empire of Silence! Hop on the train now.

Finally someone I can relate to I’ve been trying so hard to read the 4th book and continue but after the first 3 the 4th just doesn’t hit right.

Does anyone know the titles of the three red books on her right are?
I'm pretty sure it's the Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab. Could be wrong though 🤷🏻♀️
The justice of kings was imo kinda meh. Hopefully the sequel speeds up a bit and that the helena can cry less.
