I just occurred to me that there was never a bad Shenandoah song. These guys are the best.
the 90's were and still is IMO the best decade in country music...
By far!!

Absolute living legends. 34 years old and on my ultimate bucket list of concerts
Sunday in the South touches my Southen heart. Mama Knows touches my Soul. Shenandoah, Bellamy Brothers, are the 2 Southern Bands that I consider the best in Southern Music of ALL TIME
It's an absolute shame they never got the full credit they deserved for amazing music.
Yes sir
Ehh amazing is quite a stretch..good is more like it
@@derrick229 cool thing about opinions is you don't have to agree.
Loved these’Cats! 👍😎🎸🎤
Straight up real country music and today it's pure garbage country is nothing like it use to be
One of my favorite bands of all time. When I get back from my deployment I'm gonna have to find one of their shows and take my wife

They had some good ones back then for sure! God bless Shenandoah!
moon over Georgia..these guys had a TON of AWESOME songs
This is one of my favorite bands!! Still sing and listen to them!!
One of my all time favorite groups! Marty is such a sweet, good man.
Thank you so much for interviewing them. I wholeheartedly agree with you. That is definitely the music of my childhood as well. Definitely brings back some great memories. I definitely remember listening to their stuff a lot on the radio as a kid. My favorite songs by them are two dozen roses, Moon over Georgia, hey Mr., Church on Cumberland Road, and several others I’m sure that I missing.
One of the most amazing groups of all time.
I got to meet Marty a few years back. Super friendly, down to earth guy!
Love these guys. They're one of those bands where you don't realize all of their songs that you know.
Ii wanna be loved like that wonderful song have very strong emotions with it
They were huge here in Texas. I bought their tape for my truck and jammed out on those Rains County roads
I used to walk down to The Western Room, in Printer's Alley, after I'd finish my gig at The Carousel Club and see Marty sing - before he had made it. Everyone knew he was going places. Very nice guy.
Looks like he mostly went to the fridge
@@suncookrocks that’s not cool. Clown
@@TIDEPROCESS18 Oh you’re right, he was headed straight to the gym. That’s how he got that physique. Asshat.

Actually saw them in Rockport, Texas in 2015, got to get their signatures and have my picture taken with Marty. Shenandoah is my all time favorite band.
I'm originally from Corpus Christi, I really wanted to see them when they came to that Fair they played at, but I couldn't take the time off to go see them.
We seen them in Rockport to they were awesome my favorite is ghost in this house. I can’t believe how the sound was so perfect 👌
Shenandoah play our county Fair around 93-94. at the end of the show Marty Raybon stood out there and signed to 200 autographs at least until everybody in line got their autograph or picture. I got my Troy Aikman jersey signed. Awesome guy!!!!

Man I wore their cassette tapes out.
Yeah that's all good right there now
Saw Marty preaching in a church in Hobbs, NM back in the day. Sat about 20 feet away from him. He said he quit music because it was killing him with the booze and the partying. Nice guy. I played at a club up the street from that church off and on for 14 years. I played Cumberland Road many, many, times..
Yo bobby. I worked at Mountain Valley water and fished all the time below the damn in Mt. pine. All my family is from Holis.
Ghost in this house! Love it
All i had to offer her.... Was the moon. And she took the moon over Georgia. She rather have a million stars in the sky. Than a gold mine
Ive worked with this guy many times . Marty Raybon is incredible... He needs to lighten up on the fast food.... it seems
I'm sure he appreciates that unsolicited advice. 🤦♀️ Ever heard of the thumper rule? IF YOU CANT SAY SOMETHING NICE DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.
@@caryn459 you know the definition of unsolicited.. obviously.. Have you heard of the thumper rule.. yourself..? you must be a bit chunky, like I am. or maybe a lil bigger than that which is where Marty is.. to reply in such away . slow your role
@@miklovelka9261 Oh I see, you can GIVE unsolicited advice but can't TAKE it. 👌Got it. Asking someone to be kind or be quiet has nothing to do with size. It's called decency. Try it sometime. Oh.....and it's "roll". 🙈🙉🙊
@@caryn459 LOL
thank you on the typo sp. roll . slow your roll
I do realize that this is a touchy subject but I think Miklo meant this in a kind way. We want these two brothers to be healthy and to be with us for a long long time.
I’m late to this but really enjoyed it.
38 people have never heard real country music.
Shenandoah an Restless Heart. Back in the day . Maybe some of these so called Country bands could learn little something
There was a time when these guys and Sawyer Brown just stayed on CMT
Marty is a good chrstian guy!
Since jay from rascal Flatts produced some of their stuff maybe we can get a rascal Flatts and Shenandoah collaboration some time!!!
HEY BOB KEEP .PLAYING THEIR MUSIC ALONG WITH BLACKHAWK, TRACEY BIRD , TRACEY LAWRENCE, NEAL.MCCOY
Used to see Marty around all the time here around the shoals area. I took guitar lessons from Jim sills here at counts brothers. They are just regular down home guys!
It sure feels good being here in Florence shoals area. A lot of history and great talent!
I have to say Marty sure needs to get some help with that weight! I almost didn't recognize him! Developed a little stutter when talking???? Wow time is a brutal beast!!
2 Dozen Roses and See If I Care.My favorite 2 songs by the guys.Martys voice on these 2 songs are perfect
They r gonna be at a casino by my house tomorrow but I’m to damn young to go ;(
look like lots of barbecue chicken in aluminum foil through the years.. Sundays in the South healthy eating😋😋
but he'll that's alright by me any old stretch a blacktop will do😎🛣️🚛🎶
popular groups should have to sign contracts to perform till the can't anymore ,,lol It sucks when the quit recording and performing, and just sorta disappear
WHEN WILL THE OPRY DO WHAT'S RIGHT AND MAKE SHENANDOAH AN OPRY MEMBER??????????????
Dem some big boys
Shenandoah was huge and they never knew it. Badasses
It looks like some of them are still huge
Yeah they're huge haha
They are fantastic! Marty’s voice is so unique. I met them many years ago and they were just as nice as could be. Great Life memory…Thanks Shenandoah!
Yes they came from the heart most all there songs
I personally hate the bubba song
i like how marty says country was at its peak in the late 8os and 90s. honest words from a legend.
Lol you fools... in 20 years this will be considered country at its peak. It’s all relative.
@@FalconMidget your words coming from a non legend.
Chris L. I’m a legend to my dog I guarantee it.
@@FalconMidget something tells me your dog is the legend.
Facts
80's and 90's country blows today's stuff in the weeds! Don't even now what to call it
Literally one of the top 5 best country music makers ever . So underrated and ridiculously talented. I love the vocal perfection
Was listening to “Southern Sunday,” earlier.
80s and 90s were definitely the best time in country music and in 20 years today will be known as the worst time
holly wood ...sex now $
Yeah ty you got that right! 👍♥️😍😊
Down to only 16yrs.... :)
Back when we had real country music, not this hiphop, pop, crap of today.
There's not anybody that hasn't had a Moment,.....When they listen to " Momma Know's ".................
MrGraybeard7 I cry when I hear Mama Knows. The one line " sometimes I think she's got a window to my Soul," tears me apart as my Mom died nearly 9yrs ago.
My favorite will always be Sunday in the South. Never truer words!
Angelo E I still smell the powder burning and I probably always will
Chris Bolin thats the best line right there.
Does anyone know The name Jay Booker? I was told he wrote Sunday in the South. The song fits Jay’s home town. He was a song writer. The little town was around a paper mill and it’s just like the song. It has little houses that are in a row , has a little Barber Shop, a big Baptist Church, all are in the song
Ernie McGowin not familiar with him . Song reminds me of days in Liberty Mississippi where time stand still
That is a sacred song!!
Marty has a true gift from God🙌. The band was definitely blessed. I get tears when I hear these songs. Their music is inspirational and tell a story which is a true art in prime country music. ❣️♥️❤️
Ditto. Just a special time…and these guys were GREAT. I also loved BlackHawk, Diamond Rio, Doug Stone…so many awesome songs back then….90s Country.
Okay low fee is w w but weeded rere I don’t want to you p I love you too
@@terryfleming7354 if you are no longer high, try writing this now
bigblick...😂😂😂
SUNDAY IN THE SOUTH IS IN MY TOP 10 FAVORITE SONGS!! I STILL SING IT JUST OUT OF THE BLUE!!
John Boy Gordon “mill worker houses lined up in a row”. First words that came to mind when I read the title of this video.
Justin Smith that song perfectly fits a little town near where I grew up. There is a paper mill with a neighborhood of little houses that are lined up in a row up and down each little street, there is a barbershop and a Church all just like the song. I was told the song was written by a guy that grew up there and went to Nashville. Jay Booker. Not sure if it’s true or not
How can you not bring up "Ghost in this house". That song is a legend in itself!!
They were always my favorite band growing up. Love me some Shenandoah
I was thinking the same. Ghost in this House is 100% my favorite song by them.
Word. “Moon over Georgia” is a great song as well
That's there best
"Mama Knows" and "I wanna be loved like that" are two fantastic tunes.....
@@scott6699 my favorite song as well brings tears to my eyes
Man this is my childhood all over again. Kids these days will never know what country music was. Listening to their songs takes me back to a hot hay field, the dirt road I grew up on, and the river bank in the summer evening.
I opened for these guys a few weeks ago. It was storming rain at an outside show and everyones cars got stuck. They took the stage after we finished and said “we are gonna be here awhile, might as well have a good time.” They played a blistering good set after that!
I really "miss" country music. It was AWESOME!
“The moon over Georgia “ .. jus sayin 😎
Brent Bowling was thinking the same thing. Great song
YES!!!!!!!!!
"Somewhere in the vicinity of the heart" is my favorite one they ever did and with Allison Krause!
Miss 80s and 90s country. Country was great up to about 2006 and then went downhill fast after that.
TNN should never have gone away! I miss that cable channel so much!
Two dozen roses, to me, is one of the greatest tunes ever. True 90’s masterpiece
I had tears. I was newly married and living my best life with them as the soundtrack. 90s country was the best!!
These guys are great...simple as that. glad Bobby had them on.
Nothing better than Sunday in the South.... one of my all time favorite songs
Same here, brother.
I'm in LOVE!!! Brings back my High School Days!!! Thanks for Bringing them on. Made my Day!!!!
Marty Raybon has the most beautiful male country voice ever! I adore him❤
Definitely underrated.
Most humble, wonderful and a man of the fans! Had the best time chatting with Marty and Mike after a show in Lewistown, MT this year!! Totally floored that they stood and signed everything and talked to everyone! So very humble and wonderful!!
Marty's right about DFW loving Shenandoah in the late 80s. They were HUGE here back then.
Another "Sunday in the South" is their best song in my opinion.
Bobby is a Real fan and this makes the show so much more enjoyable.... Much Respect to All
Wished country music was like that now just saw Shenandoah and Restless Heart great show always a fan
Love them! Their music sure brings back good memories.
So true! These guys set the bar in the 90’s! There will NEVER be this peak in country music EVER again! Period!!!
Met these guys in Tulsa in the late 80's. Went to their performance at a dance hall. Went straight to Denny's right after, 20 minutes later their bus pulled up and in they came. Approached them for an autograph and they graciously signed a dollar bill for me. Super nice bunch of guys! Still have that dollar bill and will pass it down to my daughter.
OMG! I love Shenandoah!! Miss their music so much!
Sunday in the south was one my favorites and Marty has one the best voices in country! I met him with his Brother on the prime time country show years ago they were super nice guys!
I have followed them from day one. I love them. It's very awakening to realize how we are all getting older, and I LOVE the fact that this young man is so encouraging for them to sing.
I had no clue how many great songs they had until now. I could probably sing word for word most all of there hits.
Sunday in the South 👍👍👍
SHENANDOAH!!! SOOO good. Boy this takes me down memory lane. Thanks for having them on and playing their oldies. I just jammed so hard at work. :)
Shenandoah- They were big back BEFORE country music sold out.
Man, a walk down memory lane right here.....this is all I am going to listen to this weekend. May even catch a show......Shenandoah, great interview!
My favorite is. I want to be loved like that!
Kelly G beautiful song 🎶🎶🎶
Deez fellers like they barbaque!
Thank you so much for this! It made me smile so big.
One of the greatest country bands of all time. imho
Definitely one of my favorite bands. Glad you guys are back at it. Hope to see a show one day.
Two Dozen Roses, Somewhere in The Vicinity of the Heart, Sunday in The South,
They shouldve been bigger than what they were..their talent is phenomenal...❤
Sunday in the South… is dead on for feeling the feelings a Sunday has in the south after church and having dinner
Greatest country band to ever live.😎
