I'm thinking about making an updated rotation video. Not a whole lot has changed, but this video was made right before they changed Chilling Wave's protection, as well as implemented the change to pets(where either pet will give you full flow access). That and I could show off some higher end area's other than Orcs. I have idea's and I'm considering it. For the record, this video still works well, but my rotation, personally, has changed slightly. I think I have my answer, lol, but if others want it I'll commit the time to make it.
Thank you so much! Im returning to BDO because i finaly got a good PC to play eith that chad graphics maxed, and im so lost with so many new skills and changes, reaaaaaly needed smth like this ! Kudos for you sir !
No problem! :) In the time frame of me posting this video until now, not much has changed in the skill rotation so its still good to go off of. In the 8 months, all they've really done to wizard is buff PvE damage. lol. I might have changed an addon or two to incorporate crit rate more, but really that's about it.
I just noticed that at 4:20 I had the wrong key input for Hellfire. What I was talking about there was using Cataclysm with Shift+F, into Mana Arrows which is a hotbar skill, into Hellfire with W+F and not Shift+F again. Tbh, the timeline for the video was a lot of copy+paste of previously shown skills and titles(text) that I knew I was gonna fuck something up. Lo and behold, I actually did. lol
Nice content for us fellow awk wiz 👏 if i could add something: on the chilling wave rotation it should be used before hellfire so you maximize the crit chance for new hellfire buff with 50% crit, since chilling buffs crit chance and you could also add a +30% crit chance addon if you want to
Probably, and it might be better, but as I said I was more or less going for cooldowns and protections. I'm pretty sure Chilling would work at the start too, so its probably fine, but part of the rotation is going into pre-awakening and then going back with hellfire. If you we're solely sticking to awakening, then yeah, for sure use chilling at the start of the chilling rotation, but you'd probably have to use water sphere to get back into awakening or a quick side weapon swap which I don't like to do either really unless necessary. Thanks for the comment, fellow awk wiz!
I have a few comments / questions for this video, mostly in reference to Addons & Skill rotations. Starting with Addons, Why do you have three sources of Crit Damage & Back attack damage when they last 5/7 seconds each? Typically I put Back/Crit on Multiple Magic Arrows or Aqua Jail because the cooldowns of those skills are equal or shorter to the duration of the buff. IMO It's very unnecessary to have more than two skills with back & crit addons on them since you should always have those skills up anyway. In regard to Combos, Post-Changes /w the global lab updates made Bolide significantly faster after Hellfire, allowing for using it sooner in a combo, such as: Hellfire > Bolide > Water Sphere > Aqua Bomb > Magma Bomb > Barrage of Water (W+F > S+F > Shift+RMB > RMB > RMB > RMB - Also easier on the hands lol) This combo also has alot higher uptime post changes due to Barrage of water's cooldown being 14 seconds now, instead of 17. Also, Chilling wave does ALOT of damage now. It already did alot of damage, but now it does its damage upfront instead of drawn out like its old animation. This said, I often times prefer to use it after Hellfire's AP Buff/DP Shred and Barrage of Water's T3 addons. Lastly, Why do you choose the Mana Arrows skill enhancement over Lightning Spear? I Get you're trying to go for permanent uptime on protections, But in most circumstances you're using Magic Lighthouse to cover the gap of something like Lightning spear or Sages Rage > Rain of fire. That said it's not like this is all a major criticism, awakening wizard is extremely sleeper and most anything works. Just figured I'd give my input Awa wiz gang 🐖
Thanks for the comment! Starting with the addons, more or less they're just grandfathered in from when I first started looking at addons properly for this rotation. The choices in them was for, more or less, near perfect upkeep on the buffs. The goal with them was to keep 6 different addon's up at all times considering the slower skill rotation due to no Water Barrage and slower Chilling. Back then, the rotation almost functioned perfectly, and definitely did when I added just Swift Earthquake and Lightning Spear into the mix. This was before they changed Mana Arrows to be actually a good skill, along with the addition of other skills, but I'll get into that in a bit. I might need to take another look at the skill addons, but personally I like having the near perma uptime on some of the buffs - like the monster ap one. Definitely will start looking into it a bit more though. The reason I don't use Water Sphere as part of the combo is the same reason I used to dodge cancel with chilling wave before they changed it, and is also the same reason I don't use Lightning Spear. It's not protected enough. Even with the Water Sphere Core, the flow isn't protected. In order to get Magma Bomb into Water Barrage from Water Sphere, you need to use the flow for Water Sphere, and I can't count the amount of times a stray cc has landed in PvE because of it. Either I'm super unlucky in those regards, or its just not worth the lack of protection. Same thing with Lightning Spear. The damage was the main reason to choose Lightning Spear over Mana Arrows before they buffed it, but then they buffed it to the point that it applies basically the same damage of Lightning Spear but while protected and giving MP back. Functionally, Mana Arrows is better all around. I also have been cc'd enough while using Lightning Spear that the choice was simple after the buff. One last thing; to reiterate on the choice of addons: Back when I first figured this out, Magma Bomb and Elementalization didn't exist, Rain of Fire didn't exist, Mana Arrows was absolute hot garbage, Mana Absorption was Shift+LMB and Hellfire produced SO much more MP while grinding. The combo back then was all over the place and the sole focus was being able to do all the skills and weave Bolide and Chilling in and out. Basically focused on the cooldowns of those skills. Everything else was low enough cd that it didn't matter because they would be back when I got to them. Basically it looked like this: Cata>Hellfire>Bolide>AJE>Shift+Z>Water Sphere(hotbar+core unless core was on chilling back then..honestly can't remember now, sometimes no flow) Cata>Hellfire>Chilling>AJE>Sage's Rage>Water Sphere. When I figured this rotation out, I was grinding orcs with a dr wizard at 335 DP and definitely not enough AP. This is why I was so focused on protections and was the only reason I could grind there with that low dp. Hope this clears up some things. Awa wiz gang 🐖
So after taking a look at it, T3 Addons don't get overridden by T2 addons. I tried switching Magma Bomb's addons to Water Barrage's and it just meant that the addons from AJE never got applied if Water Barrage's are up. I'm gonna try swapping the hellfire addons with the Water Barrage Addon's so that I get T3 of the dp shred + crit rate, and have uptime on the other buffs, but even as it is, the addons fall off well before the end of the rotation of skills. That said, I could also just lock the flow for Water Sphere and never use it, then just use S+RMB to use Magma Bomb into Water Barrage and do the rotation you mentioned.. But would it be faster with a hard casted Magma Bomb or would addons just fall off? Testing is needed. lol. Edit: Yeah there's not enough time to put addon's on Water Barrage and make it worth while in PvE. In PvP, having a bleed and a slow on that skills isn't a terrible idea, plus there could be other uses for the T3 addons, but the 14 second cooldown is about 4 to 5 seconds too long for my rotation of skills. That, plus it doesn't mesh well with the rest of the rotation due to T3 addons not being refreshed as T2 addons when a T2 skill is used. Ultimately, I'll probably stick to the addons I have for the sole reason of consistent upkeep of said addons while going through the entire skill rotation. Also, to add, the ease of just holding RMB is nice and all, but the dancing of fingers on keyboard doesn't bother me after literally years of doing it. xD practice makes perfect after all and this rotation doesn't bother my fingers in the slightest. Awa wiz gang 🐖
As main wizard for years your rotation is decent, i just want to point out some things, wizard skills have a nice "quick slot" capacity , with a decent mouse of 4-7 extra buttons lets say the 2 on the side and the 2 on the top ( i mean change the mouse speed ones into f9 / f10 ) and using also the " ` " one near 1, you can have almost every skill into a quick slot so you can avoid pressing shift all the time, change WW evade forward in settings into another quick slot on mouse to dash like Musa all the time, this dash can nullify monster agro+ no coalition so you can first get into position then start using your skill rotation
I'll start my response with thanks for watching the video! Now, where to begin.. I too have been playing wizard for a long time. Created the wizard on the second wave of head start, and have been playing it since they created and launched the class on KR.. God, Idk how many years that is now to be completely honest. I state this to establish that Wizard is also my main. I'll take any new information I can about the class and try it myself. I welcome new information, but I'm not reading that in your comment. I have WW and SS binded to my mouse wheel buttons since I learned about how it affected instant accel with horses. Specifically have it bounded to the mouse wheel side buttons. I guess I should start with what mouse I'm using: Logitech G600. Its a mmo-style mouse with the 12 side buttons that can act like 24 side buttons because of a button a third finger rests on when using it. I actively use almost all the hotkeys for the quickslot bar via the mouse. The last two I have a f7 and f8 respectively. The only ones I dont use from mouse is 1 and 3. 1, or G9 on my mouse, is my Push2Talk in discord and anything else voice related and 3 is just because I dont wanna stretch my thumb to the 3(G11) button. That said, using quickslots over the actual skill input is, and this is more important for other classes over that of wizard, costly. For example: I have a maximum of 1697 MP on wizard right now. Using the skill input for Water Sphere brought me down to 1621 where as using the the skill via quickslot brought me to 1617. Granted, thats a 4 mp cost to use it via quickslot, but that's still a cost. That can literally be the difference between you using a skill and not using a skill when you're using the rotation - which can happen on lower ap zones. I know holding shift can be annoying for some players, but its not for me as I'm so used to it that my pinky literally rests on the shift key naturally. As I type this out, its currently resting on the key or hovering above it. That said, there's a reason not to solely rely on quickslots for skills. The flow of the skill going into other skills was interrupted.. That said, after trying it out now, I can see the point you're making with it. However, the problem is that now you've taken the utility off of the quickslot bar and put damage skills in its place. The quickslot bar should be, more or less, used for utility stuff. Sage's Memory, Speed Spell, both red and blue ball, summoning your pet, the ability to swap to awakening with a ranged skill(Water Sphere), and anything else that doesn't have a skill input or wouldn't take priority. Example of that last one is putting Meteor Shower III on the hotbar instead of using it via skill input. Fireball sometimes takes Priority over Meteor Shower. One more thing to add: The dodging doesn't remove monster aggro. It is a PvE with no collision. There's not a single time I've used it and lost aggro - unless I dodged outside the range of the mob. It should be used in higher end spots like a Sorc would use her . You literally dodge, attack, dodge, attack. Now, if I've misread your comment, please tell me. I'm 90% sure when you used the term quickslot you meant in game, but if you meant using your mouse and altering the side buttons to press shift for you, that's technically against TOS and while probably impossible to catch in our opinion, I have no reason not to use shift over something like that. And to add one additional tidbit of information: Back in the days of KakaoGames(formally known as DaumGames) being the publisher, they held a contest. Within that constest, they wanted people to do something for the community and if you got selected to win, you'd get a choice of something. I got a Black Desert Pillow from my entree - which is to say I was one of the few winners of that contest. I wrote a how-to wizard guide in text format that included all the tips and tricks I learned from playing the game over the years. One of them is the teleport misdirect that you can do by turning your camera while casting teleport. People see you going one way, but you're actually going another. That was a low level tip, because most people should have figured it out by then. One really cool tip I shared was what me and a friend called Wizard 101, or advanced wizard tactics.. or w.e at the time. Ascended Wizard? Idk. Anyways, this was back before succession was a thing. Casting fireball and Chain Lightning would leave you with a buff. If you had the proceeding skill(fireball explosion/lightning storm) on the quickslots, you could weave other skills in between and then cast the proceeding skill. Example was something like this: Fireball>Lightning>Residual Lightning>Fireball Explosion. I went into much more detail, and back then it was actually stuff people didn't know or weren't doing on wizard. Actual tricks you could use. You could still use them too because not much has changed from then and now. Thanks for the comment. I know this is a long response, but I needed to get the point across here that I know what you're talking about, I use what you're talking about, and that now we both know that we both know what we're both talking about. lol. Have a great weekend!
Both are viable, but in the long run evasion is better. I used to do DR at most grind spots, but when it came to trying out the really stat dependant spots like crypt, it just wasn't viable. Also, DR requires more dp to start feeling like you can take a hit, while evasion at lower dp levels just works. The obvious trade-off for not getting hit is whenever you do, it hurts more. Both work in all elvia spots and gyfin underground, but anything higher than that is more class dependant if one will work over the other.
I had some toxic shit response written out, but eh fuck that. It's honestly pretty obvious which ones they are, but they're attack/cast speed +% and back attack +%
@@TRNFloyd oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend, but because I really couldn't even see what was written, the attack from behind I still managed to deduce, now the attack speed I really wasn't understanding, in any case thanks for the answer!
Crystals are something I'm still playing around with. Personally, it depends on what you need gear/stat wise. If you find you're running into an accuracy problem at places, throwing in vipers/elkars/precisions(the unlimited grouping ones) for some extra hit rate is good. That said, awakened wizard shouldn't usually have accuracy problems. A full AP build or a full DR build for crystals is good. What I like to do is have a preset for both. The DR build is nice at places like hexe because it just makes the grind comfy and chill, but honestly you can do it without if you need the damage. A full AP build will work wonders if you're lacking AP elsewhere. Two builds I like to play with are a 54DR/64Acc build with a dr artifact/lightstone set that gives like 30 DR, or the opposite with the AP set that gives 64Acc and like 50 AP and 10 monster ap with a monster ap set that also gives like 30 monster ap. One thing about Monster AP is that its stupidly easy to build. Artifacts for Monster AP are easy to get at Jade Forest, and the only expensive part about that set is the iridescent lightstone. Cron meal, corrupted frenzy and addons add up to 90 Monster AP and that's 120 with the artifacts. If you want specifics, let me know and I'll get the full crystal builds I have going put on my garmoth and link it.
@@TRNFloyd Thank you very much bro but I only played for like 2 weeks and I still don't really understand everything. Since season character can be boosted to have 240ap and 305 dp, I just wanna know what crystal should i get as a new player.
But they work..? I've not had a problem with them while grinding, sooooo..? If you got a suggestion, by all means say it, but I don't see a problem with my add-ons.
Back then? Probably about 307k awakening, but not entirely sure. It also could have been 297 or 295. All depends, but what I have on garmoth from 5 months ago is showing 307. 310k now.
@@TRNFloyd what's your trash at orcs? i'm getting with blue loot like 14-16k trash on rotation 5. I"ve talked to some guildies and they're doing like 23K trash but they're really geared.
The new patch doesn't change the rotation. Skills still used in same order. The end of the video was using the global lab changes which is what we got in today's patch.
@@HitmanQC95 My bad for the late reply. The buffs we're good in the sense of QoL. We have essentially split teleport now in awakening in the form of Elementalization, which is good for PvP, but for PvE its a bit more damage and more protection overall. Chilling Wave had its animation changed completely to make the front guard apply for the whole skill, so now there's no gap in it and no need to dodge cancel it early. Besides that, regardless of summon that's out we have the added effects added now, so you can have Arne or Marg out and get both dps increase on Cataclysm and Bolide while also getting the large AoE of Aqua Jail Explosion and the added hits for Chilling. All of that add's up to very minor increase in dps, but its a major QoL change to protections. Essentially the class is perma protected while grinding PvE - which you can troll people with as well in PvP. The buffs are not crazy enough to make it the best grinder in the game, just one of the most protected ones.

Thanks for the comment. I know this is a long response, but I needed to get the point across here that I know what you're talking about, I use what you're talking about, and that now we both know that we both know what we're both talking about. lol. Have a great weekend!
interesting guide, should u go for evasion or DR as awakning pve grinder ?
Both are viable, but in the long run evasion is better. I used to do DR at most grind spots, but when it came to trying out the really stat dependant spots like crypt, it just wasn't viable.
Also, DR requires more dp to start feeling like you can take a hit, while evasion at lower dp levels just works. The obvious trade-off for not getting hit is whenever you do, it hurts more. Both work in all elvia spots and gyfin underground, but anything higher than that is more class dependant if one will work over the other.
What addons would you recommend for someone who is back attack focused?
ty very much can do pvp combo guide
Can't read the first addon, could you tell me what it is?
I had some toxic shit response written out, but eh fuck that. It's honestly pretty obvious which ones they are, but they're attack/cast speed +% and back attack +%
@@TRNFloyd oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend, but because I really couldn't even see what was written, the attack from behind I still managed to deduce, now the attack speed I really wasn't understanding, in any case thanks for the answer!
do you have crystal sets bro? im new to bdo
@@TRNFloydhi! Thank you for ur work!!!
Loadout of ur crystals would be really great ^^
bro new addons plz
But they work..? I've not had a problem with them while grinding, sooooo..? If you got a suggestion, by all means say it, but I don't see a problem with my add-ons.
what's your ap?
Such meh buffs, need to buff more tbh for pve
Best way to play wizard is to tag a maegu for pve! Lower apm and more trash.
True and real. That's not really the point here with this, though. 👍
combo rotation update new patch pls
The new patch doesn't change the rotation. Skills still used in same order. The end of the video was using the global lab changes which is what we got in today's patch.
@@TRNFloyd were the buffs pretty good for pve ? Was thinking of giving my old wizard a try again
