Be still my beating heart. While I love Orbison's version Johnny takes it to another level. His own. Talk about sending chills up your spine. No one delivers a song quite like Johnny. Talk about connecting with the audience and still have you feel he's singing just to you. He leaves me weak, and I'm a freaking grandmother I should be ashamed lol NOT lol
I think i first saw these guys on the "Flip Wilson Show" Back in the day. At first I thought they were totally outrageous in their gold lamete outfits and stage performance, but then I couldn't get enough of them -I love old Rock 'n' Roll. I saw them in concert while I attended college back in the '70's, and still enjoyed their performance. When they had their own television show, my father, a WWII vet, watched it with me and enjoyed it with me -Dirty Dan was his favorite. He liked the "twinkle in his eye" at the opening of the show. I later realized they had broken the standard concert performance mold with their dance choreography and costumes for many performer afterwards like Kiss, Paula Abdaul and even later, Beyonce.
Johnny does this song excellently, like every song he sings. I really love him and his gifted and superb voice. I also love the way he acts the song out. He's just wonderful in many ways.
again like crying Johnny took a roy orbson and made it his. He still can sing this great and got to love this reminds me of when I was a whole lot younger!
Still love this so much! Also love the way this group of performers functions and moves so harmoniously as a team. They are remarkable. They were so professional. And oh by the way Johnny is phenomenal as always the voice of an angel. Love listening to Johnny, could listen all night!!!!

@justmusicandme Hey Loretta, glad you agree because I have searched to see covers of these 2 songs and I came up with Lou Christie for Magic changes and Cindy Lauper for I'm gonna be strong. While both were good they don't touch the originals. It just made me wonder why people didn't cover them bc they were great songs albeit hard to sing. Guess there in lies the problem lol. @justmusicandme You will notice no one but Lou Christie covered Those Magic Changes and while it was a good version it was not Johnny's original. Two songs I've never heard done justice is Those Magic Changes and I'm gonna be strong by Gene Pitney. Those 2 songs simply stand alone to the artists that made them famous.
