That is the most healing song I have ever heard. I once told you that gifted people aren't just gifted; they are gifts. Thank You for this song that we needed right now.

Life is but a dream that surrounds us, emotionally and intellectually. Nothing can ever prepare us for loss or for the challenges that come with being alive, but life is of two opposing ideologies...happiness and sadness and all of their own variations.
Keep everyone you know close, you never know what will happen.

I love the musical humour! Having started with a wonderful 60s folk song equal to Baez and others, Janis then throws it open to a fabulous soprano sax solo, a trad jazz band, bluegrass, scat vocals and screaming rock guitar. Love it!

Seeing someone with the credit, "Trombone, banjo" makes me very happy.

We sang this song in church during Covid several times. All of us, six feet apart, wearing our masks, wondering when it would end. Better times. I don't think I could look back on those times fondly if it wasn't for the hope that this song gave us.

Had to find this song to lift my spirits and to a chosen few,so afraid of our future rights they are already talking about changing. Thanks

Hello Janis - thank you for this song. I've been singing it in the PNW at various circles. Its among a genre of songs once relevant in the pandemic that are now very relevant in this political pandemic.

Thank you, Janis. We have to keep hope and move to a collective consciousness of our connections to one another. Such a simple, yet intensely beautiful tribute to the spirit that binds us. Better times, indeed, my friend. Thank you for the joy of your many gifts.

This is one wild ride musically. Like I was in church getting the feels and then the floor dropped out and the pew became a roller coaster 🎢
Luckily it dropped me back at church all ruffled up and smiling. ❤️

Brilliant singer and song writer. Just heard your interview on Ireland’s National radio station RTE1. Amazing voice still. I loved “At Seventeen” and knew every word. Social music that reaches the heart and resonates with the soul. Powerful 💪🏻💪🏻

Writing this the Sunday after “Roe” has fallen, concealed handguns are now the law of the land and the war in the Ukraine continues. Just knew I had to come to this song. Thanks Janis for this song (& all the others!). I keep trying to believe that “Better Times” will come. ❤️😢

Great Fun! It was wonderful and uplifting to warch and hear this project from the beginning. So many different interpretations of the same song. I really needed this when the walls started closing in, it was great to see so many people responding and helped ease the sense of isolation that was building. Thank you!

This is the latest iteration of the most amazing crowd-sourced musical project of the pandemic. If memory serves, Janis wrote this the day after the news broke that the 'Rona had nailed John Prine.

Yes Pete Seeger, but also heard Peter Paul & Mary, some Dixie Land, Satchmo and even a little Hendrix all in one son. What an arrangement.

Somehow You're incorporating all styles of distinctly American music. And they're not so very different from each other. It remains the same song thoughout. Congrats on having Maeve Gilchrist playing a little harp solo, too. A good choice.

I just watched Leonard Bernstein discuss Janis Ian's Society's Child after she sang it. Janis has been a socially aware beautiful person since 15, and probably younger and I still love her. ua-cam.com/video/300LiZtuDPw/v-deo.html
