I actually got to witness my mum getting her Turkish citizenship which for some reason is really cool to me. Nerve-wracking but cool. Love your videos. However, is it true that a medical exam is required for citizenship in the UK? (Where I live it is not) This implies that sick ppl might get denied citizenship because of their medical history!? Great job on the relaxing video but if this is a real scenario, it's quite upsetting...
I am unsure about the UK specifically (as that's not where I live) but many countries will reject people is they have a severe medical issue due to a variety of (in my mind unfair) reasons. The main ones being if you can't contribute to the economy (due to your condition) why should money from the economy be given to you? Like I said it varies from country to country but many countries (especially ones that you can receive significant government support from) will require a comprehensive physical before you can become a citizen
A medical exam can be required (performed by a recognized physician) but health may be only one factor in the decision making process. It also depends on what kind of citizenship application. for example in my country family reunification is a priority therefore medical, educational and financial are not typically valid reason to deny residence to someone applying on the basis of reuniting with spouse and children. As for people applying with no relatives living here yet, there is a point system, where they take everything into account including age, education, profession, savings, family and yes, health.
