Is it normal to have sore traps after doing these exercises? My traps are often very tight and sore, and often take over when I do most exercises. I've been reading Robin Mackenzie's books for my lower back and neck pain, and have started implementing the basic exercises, however for the past few days since doing these, my right trap is very sore and tight.
I have been experiencing bilateral arm pain for a while. Performing the retractions reduces the pain, but I tend to get a pretty severe, lingering headache after about a week of doing them. Any thoughts on why that happens?
You may be centralizing the symptoms and the headache may go away with more retractions. I would recommend you talk to a certified McKenzie PT for an evaluation.
It can range from a week to 8 weeks. It depends if loss of motion is the main driver of your pain. Stress, strength, prolonged static positions can all contribute to neck pain.
@@apexmovebetter thank you for taking the time to reply. I will go and get assessed as I think stress is a big part of my pain. I had a stressful week and my neck went from nearly recovered to badly flared up again. Thanks again and thanks for the helpful videos.
I have pain all the time in my nape of the neck, trapezius muscle, left hand, intercostal muscle, costochondrial muscles, pectoralis, seratus muscles. Whenever i go to physiotherapist the pain subsides for few days then again it start. This is since April 2022 am tired of this. Did MRI scan no nerve involvement but still facing such type of pain
I have a strange issue. When I'm sitting and raise my left leg I feel a dull stabbing shooting ache on the back of my head left side lower at base of skull. It lasts a second and goes away.
Thanks for your help. Started feeling better right after the first day of doing these exercises!

Will these exercises help with malrotations of the c1,c2 vertebrae?
Great advice. Thanks.

How long should i do these for if the pain is reducing? Can it take months for it to work and reduce the pain to 0?
