This is a great review that really gets to the heart of what makes the car appealing. You really seem to understand how some car enthusiasts think and it resonates with me! I never pre-ordered this car but somehow managed to find an unsold Launch Edition at the end of Jan this year. It was a no-brainer to purchase and after having it for 2+ months it has allowed me to appreciate a simpler, no frills, pure driving experience.

Just a heads up.. The IS 500 does have the ASC feature.. “Active Sound Control”.. synthetic sound coming out of a center speaker in the dash.. It can be controlled + / - and turned off with a rolling dial to the left side of the steering wheel..
Just not sure if you had it on or off in your video.. :(
Also dont understand why you need that cause from my understanding that is like fake noise pumping to the speakers when you can have all those glorious intake noise above 4000rpm
This interior is better than 90% of the new cars today in my opinion,, other than that piano black part...
And the CD player. Rather just have some extra cup holders or storage than that thing.

I use the CD player. Nothing beats the quality of a DVD...
It complements the Mark Levinson sound system in this car.
When I see guys trying to load bikes and discussing infotainment I start thinking “are these car guys ? “ or “this is a guy that just likes sports cars a little?”

I have an IS F and live in the UK so no IS 500 here, but if the feel suspension wise is similar or the same as the real F, then I'd defo get one if I lived State side. If its a bit softer, then maybe not.
It's definitely a bit softer than an ISF. Which in ways is good and other times I wish it handled a bit flatter.
@@EatSleepDrive Have you driven the LC500, it might have the same Adaptive Suspension, does that drive flatter, Interested to know your thoughts!

Really good review. I've had my IS 500 since March 4th and I cannot begin to express how much I love this freaking thing! It's my 5th Lexus and by far the absolute best. God willing, I will be able to keep it well past the time when gas is outlawed. 😀

Just found your channel and love your videos. Could you tell me what you think between the IS500, S5 Sportback, Kia stinger, and TLX Type S? Really just looking for a comfortable daily driver that handles well and something I can have fun with when I want to.
They absolutely are piping in engine noise through the speakers. I am shocked you didn't realize this, as it sounds very artificial. I turned mine off day 1. Otherwise, great review! I really like the bike test.
Honestly, I have had no issues with manual mode. If you ask me, you just need to learn when you can ask for a downshift. I've had it give me downshifts every time I've asked. If you need it to downshift to over 6600 RPM, you probably don't need to downshift, or could wait a split second longer. But I've literally seen video footage of people downshifting to where it hits well over 6K RPM after shifting. I don't get the complaints there.

I have a GSF and the IS500 has the same issues even with an inferior transmission: long gears and no rev matching.
Love how the outdated interior and engine are now called classics. Making old sound good inst the way to go to cover laziness to improve.
Except it is a classic in true meaning of the word. How many cars these days are being built with a big block NA V8?
Everyone is taking the turbocharged V6 route because it's cheaper to produce and sell.
As for the interior? It has everything you could ever need. What's outdated about it? The fact that it doesn't have RGB light strips or 2 iPads glued to its dashboard?
The IS500 has one of the best interiors of its segment, something that's engaging and not distracting...
Can someone tell me - are there a lot of differences between old isf sound and this is500?
