I think a lot of people underestimate Obi-Wan, his greatest skill was his intellect, he always managed to outthink and outsmart his opponents. You can downplay his skills all you want but he did defeat Maul, Grievous and Anakin not because he was better but simply because he was the smarter fighter.
It was stated that Grievous was the more powerful duelist but still couldn't beat Obiwan's brick wall defence. Grievous got frustrated and made mistakes. Obi-wan deserved the win.
In a way, there is a reason why Anakin and Obi-Wan worked so well together in a lightsaber duel. Anakin, with his aggressive mastery of Form V, was the "sword". Obi-Wan, with his mastery of Soresu, was the "shield". In a sense, they're like a shield and sword combination.
"I fight because that is what I was made to do and the Empire is the instrument through which I realize my purpose. The Empire is war made manifest. That is why it is perfect." Darth Malgus
small correction: Qui-Gon was NOT a dedicated lightsaber duelist. a competent duelist? certainly, but he was a consular, specializing in his connection to the living force rather than his skills with a lightsaber. it would have been interesting to watch what would have happened had he survived the duel with Maul and doubled down on sharpening his swordsmanship, as much of his weakness compared to the greats can be explained by the fact that there was little practical utility in him doing so before the reemergence of the sith.
obi wan was a strategist. always outsmarts his opponent's who have the edge over him. his defense was amazing. he was like floyd mayweather with a lightsaber. opponents always found it difficult to break his guard.
When you watch the Revenge of the Sith final battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan was on defense for most of the fight. And just one of the very few offensive attacks took down anakin. Who would have become the most powerful sith/jedi ever to be seen. Had he not held back so much, the fight would have ended much sooner. I think him against malgus would be a fair fight, but Obi-Wan, the best dualist, would emerge as the victor.
Part of the reason why Obi wan was defensive for most of the fight was simply because that's his fighting style, he defends and when he finds an opening he strikes
+Kidzin Without a doubt? Anakin lasted longer against Dooku even when he was a padawan. He defeated Dooku while Obi Wan was rather helpless against him. Anakin defeated and killed every Jedi in the temple with help from clones. He personally killed Cin Dralig, an incredibly skilled Jedi Master. He then kills all of the Separatist Council, presumably with droid guards. After all of this in 24 hours he can still fight Obi-Wan in a marathon duel where both were going all out. I'd hate to be a ranter but obi was forced to go all out vs Anakin
+Dillon Steele Then he would've been an excellent Juggernaut. Sith Juggernauts specialize in defense, and they use Soresu to continuously block all attacks, slowly demoralizing the enemy and chipping away at his resolve, as the Jedi becomes increasingly convinced that the Juggernaut is invincible, before despair finally overcomes the Jedi, allowing the Juggernaut to finish him off.
Obi-Wans type lll duell style is the most defensive. But it is allmost impossible to break trough that defense if you duell a master ... in attack of the clones he lost gainst dookus type ll duell style ... but just because he did not master it. in episode lll he did it

Easy victory for Darth Malgus. Obi-Wan has almost no impressive fetes, Darth Malgus has many and seems never to have even struggled to defeat even great Jedi one-on-one. He's never ever been outclassed, whereas Obi-Wan was against Darth Maul and Dooku, and only could defeat a young and inexperienced Annakin once he took an environmental advantage: one a much more experienced and intelligent Darth Malgus would not let him take.
David Haddad Don't think it would be an easy battle. Obi was hailed by mace as the true master of soresu. And soresu a speacislists can never be beaten in 1v1 on juyoo masters can have a chance.
No chance it would be easy. Windu places Obi-Wan as THE master of Soresu, better than any other master of it. You say he was outclassed by Maul, but this only happened in Clone Wars (and during TPM he was a padawan and didn't practice soresu) and Dooku was one of the best duelists of the time. Anakin was defeated by an environmental advantage, yes, but this was something that Obi-Wan saw-intellect. Anakin never really took the upper hand though, and Obi-Wan painted him as a better duelist and force user than him.
@@EverestBlizzard in the hope cinematic i think it was Satele Shan beat Malgus, blocked his blow with her bare hand. i know you'll probably bring up oh Jace helped but lets be real if he let a trooper effect his fight that says more about his weakness than anything else. don't get me wrong though i love Malgus, easily my favorite sith just pointing out that he deffinitely lost to her at this point.
Obi-Wan was literally said to be an 8/10 to Yoda/Sidious/Anakin, who were a 9/10. Him and Anakin were stated by the choreography writer himself to be ''Up with Sidious.'' by the end of ROTS. So then the question is; is Malgus up there with Sidious as an overall combatant? I personally think not. Malgus has an enormous tunnel vision, which is just deadly against Kenobi.
"Nothing short of a fatal blow is going to take him out of a fight". I'm reminded of when Dooku knocked his ass out and Obi-Wan didn't wake up until Anakin was carting him down in an elevator..
Antoine Bandele Died how though? Maybe if Dooku killed Anakin then walked over and stabbed Obi-Wan in the face. He was literally unconscious and his legs were squished under some large metal..w/e. I doubt he would've died from that alone.
If this damage to the respirator was done with a lightsaber, the respirator would be all but functional. Maybe Malgus would be able to breathe... a little. But the thing about humans (which both of these men are) is that we grow physically weak when we have even the slightest bit of a lack of oxygen. LITERALLY! AFTER SOMETHING LIKE 4 MINUTES, WE GET SOME BRAIN DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THE LACK IN OXYGEN. Look, all I'm saying is that after the respirator is destroyed, Obi-One maybe needs to defend himself for like 10 - 15 minutes until Malgus is so weak that he can barely swing his lightsaber. This whole "After the respirator is destroyed, Malgus gains fury and attacks stronger" bullshit would never happen. In fact, building fury and swinging harder would make him breathe more which would subtract from the time needed for Obi-One. I do agree, however, that Obi-One WOULD go for the respirator (I just think it would be more toward the beginning of the battle), because Obi-One is intelligent (which is what these videos forgot). Obi-One is much more intelligent and much more of a quick thinker than Malgus. Just like all the battles that Obi-One had in Episode III. All these Sith simply DON'T THINK! ESPECIALLY "DO-NOTHING-BUT-ATTACK" DARTH MALGUS. TRUE VERDICT: MALGUS WOULD BE EASILY OUT SMARTED AND WOULD DIE OF SUFFOCATION MINUTES AFTER THE BATTLE BEGAN. SORRY!
Somehow, I had a feeling Malgus would take the physical edge. He's been on the battlefield far longer than Obi-Wan and won't stop coming! Nice new "To be continued." Helps with the music and longer time of this special.
It's temporary. I still have my 15 minute video lock. Once my penalty is lifted in March, I go back to my full length videos. This video was going to be 40 mins long.
Antoine Bandele I apologize, sometimes I say things in a way that I don't mean. I really meant to say that I had to stoop to that level of nitpickery to find any fault in this video and this series as a whole.
Actually in the expanded universe, Obi Wan had a second apprentice after his duel with Anakin on Mustafar. He took on Ferus Olin, Siri Tachi's former apprentice, after she died. Ferus was Anakin's rival throughout his apprenticeship and their rivalry caused a fellow Jedi friend to die during a mission. Anakin blamed it on Ferus, when it was really his own fault. Ferus took the high road and not wanting to point fingers at Anakin in front of the Council, left the Jedi Order. Obi-Wan sought him out a few years later, convinced him to return, and they fought side by side for a few years. Ferus was kind of an "unofficial" apprentice as Obi-Wan merely finished his training and in the end Ferus had the training, skill, and experience of a Jedi Knight where he probably could have taken his own apprentice, even though he was never granted the rank of Knoghthood. He was a much better companion and friend to Obi-Wan than Anakin was
if u think about it. vader used the force alot like kenobi did. More tatics than force as where Anakin was more raw force and charging with lightsaber.
So do you know of other channels that do versus or Star Wars stuff similar to you or Jensaarai? I've found myself getting interested in Star Wars again after a long hiatus of sorts and these types of things from you both are great but I want MORE!! Also it doesn't have to be totally Star Wars but any versus, or similar content, where you go in depth like this.
Antoine Bandele Can you really blame them though? In the second game of KOTOR he's an enigma and a powerful presence. He also is responsible for the mass killing of jedi on Katar. He may not be all that viable as a option for these videos but surely you can see WHY they're asking.
Have you ever done; Bane vs. Anakin, Bane vs. Malgus, Malgus vs. Grievous, Grievous vs. Anakin, or any of those with luke, yoda, Mace Windu, The inquisitor, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, or any other sith. I think those would be fantastic if you could do one or two of those, or if you already have, I haven't seen them yet. Thanks

"Nothing short of a fatal blow is going to take him out of a fight" So what what was that during his fight with Count Dooku? He just decided to lay and and take a nap?
+brAndd griin Um, you don't see much into context, do you? Obi-Wan defeated Anakin because Anakin was too aggressive and left his guard down in an all-out assault on someone with an environmental advantage. In the novelization, Obi-Wan admits that he would have lost in a straight fight. Even then, Anakin was the most powerful in that he had the most potential. He never actually reached his full potential. Potential untapped is just that, untapped.
Brandon Asaph Vader wasn’t the most powerful sith far from he had the most potential but never achieved it. Anyways I think a strong but calculated fighter like Malgus could take Obi-Wan.
Obi wan against Darth Maul in episode 1 wouldn't be an example of his stamina or endurance or whatever. He tired out very quickly after he chopped Maul's saber in half. But in Clone Wars Obi vs Maul it is definitely an example :p

It may be tough but Malgus win God damn it
Obi-Wan was literally said to be an 8/10 to Yoda/Sidious/Anakin, who were a 9/10.
FYI I'm a subscriber and I shared to my friends on Facebook,Twitter and Google plus! they subscribed and give thumbs up
"Hello, there from thee other side..!"
"Nothing short of a fatal blow is going to take him out of a fight".
I'm reminded of when Dooku knocked his ass out and Obi-Wan didn't wake up until Anakin was carting him down in an elevator..
Twas a fatal blow. If Anakin did save him he would have died there.
Antoine Bandele
Died how though?
SORRY!
It's the Dark side that fuels him, not just him being a bit pissed, suspension lf fisbelief is required for ghese kind if things
galen marek vs obi wan kenobi would be awesome!! luke skywalker vs qui gon jinn would also be really cool
Antoine Bandele
Wow! That long, huh?
Hey Antoine bandele, could you do a versus series of darth vader vs darth Marcus plz? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on that match up
Marcus? Who’s that
Can't believe I didn't see this I wanted this match up forever now ha
Andrew Sinclair Now you have it!
The result is always, OBI WON!
Yes. Obi-Wan Kenobi is da bomb.
i get it
zaberfang I know right
Dang Right
Nice pun
You should start doing like a checklist of the traits you list off on the side or something, like Screw Attack's Death Battle.
He doesn't have the budget for that.
"Maybe" Emperor Snoke is actually Darth Malgus surviving thousands of years in the Unknown Regions.
That's my theory though.
Far too many years to live unnoticed,
***** not yet, maybe.
***** We can only hope
Darrel Smith too bad...that was a nice theory
Darrel Smith
I know i am late but malgus is frozen and only valkorion knows what happended after that
If this was in the movies, Kenobi because he has the best kind of armor in Star Wars, PLOT ARMOR.
If you got the high ground
YOU WIN!
Jenssarai1 sounds like he has a hard time breathing
10:34 I thought qui gon jinn was a jedi consular, which means he was more dedicated to force abilities, his lightsaber was green
Antoine Bandele Other than your pronunciation of "corps" as "corpse" rather than "core" I thoroughly enjoyed this video
A nitpick to be sure, but a valid point. Thanks.
Antoine Bandele I apologize, sometimes I say things in a way that I don't mean. I really meant to say that I had to stoop to that level of nitpickery to find any fault in this video and this series as a whole.
One quick off-topic question: Did you or any of the members of the Council Forecast play SWTOR, yes or no?
FirebirdPhoenix87 I believe only Connor did.
Ah. Was just wondering. Love being a Jedi Guardian DPS (Tank if I have to).
He was a much better companion and friend to Obi-Wan than Anakin was
Expanded universe is no longer canon
+Ryan Joseph no shit Sherlock. But Lucas does acknowledge it and considers it an alternate timeline which DID happen. Just not in flow with the films
technically wasn't luke obi wan's apprentice?
+Ryan Joseph so are books but he uses them.
I'm sorry but I just dont think obi wan has the skill to defeat malgus
If you are right and im wrong so be it.I mean no disrespect. I watch both of you for a long time and I enjoy your videos.
Do something with pong krell (clone wars) he is awesome!
Vs grievous
+Jared Wat yeah
@@jay-1800 Greivous would win, legends or canon.
Again..big fan of both of you and obi-wan and I enjoy your videos
I know Obi Wan isn't the strongest jedi... But he's still a beast and has actually accomplished more than his own power limit.
if u think about it. vader used the force alot like kenobi did. More tatics than force as where Anakin was more raw force and charging with lightsaber.
+Don Johnson And that's why Vader beats Anakin.
So do you know of other channels that do versus or Star Wars stuff similar to you or Jensaarai? I've found myself getting interested in Star Wars again after a long hiatus of sorts and these types of things from you both are great but I want MORE!! Also it doesn't have to be totally Star Wars but any versus, or similar content, where you go in depth like this.
irishswag101 Check out my channel page for other folks who make awesome work!
Yall should do Anakin vs Malgus id like to see what the outcome of that would be
Planning on it this year.
love these videos would bang 11/10
DaLionGamer oooh my
as sad as this makes me i think that malugus would win
damn love that intro man good job
Thanks bruh
Antoine Bandele I love the intro too and I REALLY want to know the name. pls tell me.
NexoFX ISKU Music credits at the end of the video.
I'm relying on you... please do a video with Darth Nihilus btw your videos are awesome
Everyone keeps asking for Nihilus.
lol he's an interesting sith. Especially his unique abilities
Antoine Bandele Can you really blame them though? In the second game of KOTOR he's an enigma and a powerful presence. He also is responsible for the mass killing of jedi on Katar. He may not be all that viable as a option for these videos but surely you can see WHY they're asking.
Treize Khushrenada Nihilus is now coming.
Antoine Bandele Obligatory that's what she said joke here.
Thanks
You should search some of those on UA-cam 😉
ok, thank you
general kenobi is not a tank he is a bloody battleship
your shows are awesome
Thanks Ruthy.
What was the song at the beginning that you normally play I really like it.
The track is a pre-packaged song from Apple’s Soundtrack Pro listed under “cinematic.”

Antoine Bandele thanks alot it really helped
Hey Antoine, I'm thinking about reading Deceived Over my Christmas Break. But I have never played the TOR games. Do I need to understand the game or can I just jump into the novel?
You definitely read Deceived based on watching the TOR trailers.
+Antoine Bandele ahh I see. thanks bro. Love this crossover btw. it's my favorite of the versus!
What is the opening song holy shit that was fucking amazing!

What is the piano piece you use in the beginning? I love your videos btw.
jed52 Music credits at the end of the video. But I believe that particular track is "Contemplation."
jed52 It is Haggard - The Origin :)
it will be cooler if you put star wars music into the background
What's the name of the song you use at the beginning of every video? It's such a good song! :o

Too bad I don't have a mac. :/
But thanks anyway ^^
Obi wan for me was the most perfect jedi ever and also the most sith tholler in histort
hey what is the intro music please ? :D
"release your spirit high" - Stefano Bonacina
malgus is like 20x kenobi xD
"Nothing short of a fatal blow is going to take him out of a fight"
So what what was that during his fight with Count Dooku? He just decided to lay and and take a nap?
He received a concussion. Not much you can do there.
Well, Obi-Wan defeated Anakin (or Darth Vader, the most powerful sith ever borned) that means Darth Malgus could try but not get a victory from there.
Brandon Asaph
Vader wasn’t the most powerful sith far from he had the most potential but never achieved it. Anyways I think a strong but calculated fighter like Malgus could take Obi-Wan.
After a long fight Obi Wan would win in a lightsaber duel nut in unarmed combat and force abilities I would give it to Malgus
Vader vs Malgus! If not done already :3
Obi wan against Darth Maul in episode 1 wouldn't be an example of his stamina or endurance or whatever. He tired out very quickly after he chopped Maul's saber in half. But in Clone Wars Obi vs Maul it is definitely an example :p
Example of his stamina came from his fight with Darth Vader and Maul (in TCW).
Jensaarai made no mention of Malgus's telekinetic feats, and Malgus never dislayed Maelstrom in battle. Lol
Continue to the next vid.
Where did you get the awesome clips with Darth malgus??
Ben Norris The Old Republic trailers.
can you do an anakin Skywalker vs Darth malgus?! please
Planning on it later this year.
I can assure you Malgus is very dead when my blade cut through his body armor.
And no Republic Strike "Team"...unless you count one person as a team :P
(I know the canon, but I soloed that mission in game, have a recording on my channel lol)
My Jedi Master Lord Malgus only has one cybernetic part and that is his respirator
If they went 10 rounds on saber skill alone, what would the numbers look like for Kenobe?
Personally, I favor Obi-Wan in a lightsaber-only bout.
