10 x 10 = 10² = 100, 8 x 8 = 8² = 64
√[100 / 64] = 55 / x
10 / 8 = 55 / x
10x = 55 *8 --> kruiselings vermenigvuldigen
10x = [50 * 8 + 5 * 8]
10x = [400 + 40]
10x = 440 --> make x the subject by dividing both sides by 10
10x / 10 = 440 / 10
x = 44 ☑
Let's test if the proportion is Truthy or Falsey:
10 / 8 = 5 / 4
55 / 44 = 5 / 4
5 / 4 = 5 / 4

It's easier to simplify 10/8 (row 3) into 5/4 so 5x = 4 . 55 and x = 4 . 55/5 = 4 .11 = 44

5/4 x 11/11 = 55/44 ; or 5/4 x 8/8 = 40/32; or 5/4 x 9/9 = 45/36. All are equivalents fractions to 1.25.

Just did not reduce the square roots fraction into the most simple form. I did not reduce 10/8 into 5/4. Lesson learned. Thanks for repeating what had learned before.

Same as 10x5.5/8x5.5
NB: Denominator 2x5.5 less than numerator. So 11 less than 55 = 44. So final result is 55/44

V(100/64) = 10/8 = 5/4 so 5/4 = 55/x or 5x = 4 . 55 or x = 4 . 55/5 resulting in x = 4 . 11 = 44
Always first reduce a fraction if possible.
For example 4/128 + 5/125 = (4 . 125 + 5 . 128) / (128 . 125) = ...
This is how my students will solve it and then need a calculator. I don't need a calculator to solve this:
128 . 125 = 64 . 250 = 32 . 500 = 16 . 1000 = 16000 4 . 125 = 500 and 5 . 128 = 10 . 64 = 640
So (500 + 640) / 16000 = 1140 / 16000 = 114 / 1600 = 57/800
But reducing the fractions first is easier: 4 / 128 = 2 / 64 = 1/ 32 and 5 / 125 = 1/25 so
(1 . 25 + 1 . 32) / (32 . 25) =
32 . 25 = 16 . 50 = 8 . 100 = 800 and 25 + 32 = 57 so the answer is 57/800

I went 100 ÷64 = 1.5625
Square root of that is 1.25 which is 5/4
5 into 55= 11
4×11 = 44
