You know your in for a good top 10 when Demons is number 9. I had a feeling a few John Carpenter movies would be in here as well and believe it or not John but my next video is going to be they live 4K vs Blu-Ray. I had a feeling Halloween 3 would make the top 10 as well but as you said you could have any of the four 80s Halloween movies into this top 10. I really was surprised to see alligator at number one and the only reason why I was was because I haven't seen the movie on 4k but I've heard great things about it and I'm hoping someday especially after seeing this video I can pick it up. Haha yeah I was so surprised on how good these movies were on the Oled and because of the dark levels and colours I had to alter where I thought these movies would go in the ranking 😵💫😁 I honestly thought Alligator would be lower but honestly you will not believe the quality of this movie!!! You will be blown away by it and I imagine the lights you had would love this movie's colours, cheers Keith 🤩🤩👍👍

They Live is a fantastic film, I only watched it this past year for the first time but I thought it was terrific. Plus with me being a big wrestling fan it's cool to see Roddy Piper in the film. Brilliant video and a top selection of horror movies bud.

I've the Thing on 4k and i've still got to check the 4k out. My eldest son hasn’t seen it yet so I want to watch it with him. As I love watching classic movies that I love and see his reaction to them.

Halloween 3 is completely separate from the others. However, it's awesome! If I remember correctly, John Carpenter made it out of spite because everyone was pressing him for a third movie when he didn't even want to make a second. That being said, I don't think John Carpenter is capable of making a bad movie. Even when he tries to suck the movie still turns out awesome.
I heard a similar thing and he wanted all the Halloween's to be there own movie and he was forced into making Halloween 2 and Halloween 3 had a real backlash when people (including myself didn't see Mike 😉 Myers in it 😵💫😵💫 I agree that his film making is next level and if he made mainstream movies he would get tons more recognition 👍👍 Cheers for watching Smitty 🤩🤩👍👍

Good video John, it's great seeing all these classic films in 4k, as the quality is stunning. Kino Lorber are releasing Death Wish original on 4k early 2023. I will definitely buy that.

Great video, John, and cracking list.
Demons is fantastic quality, I compared it against the 4K version on Prime, and the disc blew it away, Gerreta Gerreta's foaming mouth and the motorbike really stood out.
AWIL is great, and just can't say enough good things about OLED black levels. I think the standout scene is tenebrae is where the woman gets her arm chopped off, and the blood spray across the wall looks unreal in HDR.
Alligator at number 1 was a surprise, like. Looking forward to tomorrow's stream 😀

Enjoyed the list. I have them all. On a side note as Alligator is No 1 check out Crawl as that has a lot of Jump scares and a good 4k transfer.

I really appreciate that you your choices are based on the transfer quality and not necessarily the quality of the film. Exactly the information I'm looking for. Shame Scorsese doesn't get involved the way Carpenter seems to.

Thanks Gary, it was a struggle to place some at lower places or even leave ones out of the top ten 😵💫 but I thought it would be more helpful if I was 100% honest on the picture quality 👍👍 glad you enjoyed it Gary and Scorsese really needs to get into his catalogue and get some good director approved transfers made while he is still with us 🤔 cheers for watching Gary 🤩🤩👍👍
Another great list. Evil Dead 2 is a very good 4k disc if you haven't seen it.
Cheers Michael, yeah felt bad leaving Evil Dead 2 out but as good as it is, it just missed out by a couple of places unfortunately mate, if it had been on my enjoyment of the movie, it would have been right up there! 🤩🤩 speaking of which I'm watching your Evil Dead remake soon, as its coming out on 4k, and if I enjoy it, I might go for the 4k 😁😁👍👍

As I said before that blu Ray looks spectacular, so I would think the 4k would be amazing so I'm definitely up for upgrading.....got to see if the remake works for me this time round Michael 🤞🤞🤩🤩
Some great picks John, from Cats Eye, They Live, American Werewolf, The Thing. Talking of The Thing, it's great on Commentary. Halloween III, is my favourite Halloween movie, the Picture is amazing.

I think there's a bit of a Dilemma with Genres, is not 'The Thing' Sci Fi/Horror and not an out and out Horror movie? If so, then I would put 'Aliens' in any list of the 80's but then again, I'm looking for a Horror movie to watch on Halloween and my Favs are 'The Thing' and 'Aliens' but they don't just sit right for Halloween so I'd go for 'American Werewolf'...or maybe 'Salems Lot' (I know...1979)...decisions, decisions...I just realised that you are only doing 4K in your list so you are taking the quality of image into consideration - Great Vids keep em' coming

Hey Martin, sorry bout the late reply, I do prefer the Thing but have to be honest about the Alligator transfer on the oled it is unreal!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I got my Halloweens from wow HD UK they were quite reasonable 👍👍👍 beware that Halloween now looks to be in a regular slip now 😳😳😳😳 hope you are able to get them Martin 🤩🤩👍👍

@@MondoChelloveckMovies I'm going to order them from shout factory direct Halloween 1-3 are on sale around £15 quid each as is alligator,only issue is they don't ship to the UK so I will send them to a work colleague in the US and he can post them to me. The prices in these on eBay are 40-60+ quid each crazy price's
You mentioned some of my favourite films like John Carpenter's the THING and American werewolf in London and another John Carpenter's film They Live which are all under rated films.

The Shining is another fantastic 80s horror 4K transfer and the film is a classic as we all know. I'd also put the 4K of John Carpenter's Christine and Scream factory's Halloween II
@Brandon Loves The Movies Gotta check out 2001: A Space Odyssey, probably the best 4k transfer in his filmography and I hope they do Barry Lyndon soon
I just ordered Killer's Kiss, The Killing and Paths of Glory on 4K. I already have The Shining, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Spartacus, 2001 - A Space Odyssey and Dr Strangelove on 4K. I'm a big Kubrick fan. 😄

They Live is on my list to pick up, gotta love Carpenter. I just picked up both Escape films finally so only They Live and The Fog left to get on 4k now. I have to say, The Thing has to be one of my favourite 4k films. It just looks so good.
Im very surprised you didnt include The Shining. That has to be to up there as one of the best 4k transfers for me. Especially when you watch it on an OLED telly. Totally agree that its like watching things for the first time again and its a totally different viewing experience.
Have you picked up The Lost Boys 4k yet or do you intend to? Im a massive fan and its never looked as good. Watched it twice already 😂👍
