Films such as these are my very favorite. The ones where they live on or near the water and survive from waters and other nature bounty thank you SLICE !
Love the storytelling, the cinematography, everything was packed for me, and it's right for the boy to have different dreams from the father, the young man is brilliant, I hope the universe leads him where he needs to be.
Thank you *SLICE* 🙏🍀another very interesting vid. about different culture, that is what i love about your channel ! very nice people with beautiful colorful clothes, their lifestyle and storys from the ancestors is worth to listen to it, - even the time has chanched a lot for them. amazing filming and music !
They have the full documentary on Prime Video under the Curiosity stream if anyone is wanting to watch it. Looks like the documentary came out in 2020, so two years have passed. I wonder what Hubert decided to do...
In the US we have some the most talented clothing designers. But people in third world countries still always have the best designs and clothing. When they have it. Maybe hire them??
so, they are wearing beautiful pyjamas all day, there is no pollution, they build "homes" for their fish to live in and harvest them sustainable, got a dj at their church(a muslim an christian church nonetheless), and when we all drown because sea levels are rising they just build their houses a bit higher out of the water. they beat modern civilisation at every level
What this video doesn't show you is stench and filt all over that place. I visited it while in Benin, and it was one of the most disgusting places I've been to ever. That lake is covered in floating feces, dead animals and garbage.
Their story sounds just like Venice settlement story. But when you translate where they do they always seem more Japanese. We often have way too many documentaries that are still biased to Western standards, it’s nice to see a different perspective or at least less perspective biased one way or the other, it seems that he provides well for his family look at their clothing and their home are immaculate
What the child doesn’t understand is that fishing is the only living that will keep him free and independent. One day when his EV is turned off because he didn’t get a shot he will understand but it will be too late.
Your name is freedom but I don’t think you believe in what it means? If the young man wants to make a living elsewhere, he can do that. He is young and free to make mistakes. Don’t wish him doom and cast your disbelief on him.
If fish are only way to eat and make money and theirs 50000 of them, the fish numbers must be low,a lake like can't sustain that number for ever, they might need to stop fishing so fish stocks go up, but what will they do then.

As a beninese I feel so proud that their culture withstood the test of time. Definitely a destination to visit

@@RS-xo3rb Pescatarianism is an awesome diet as long as the fish is not contaminated by microplastic. This lake probably has little microplastic.

It's his wish to do whatever the fool he wants, you win some you lose some that's life
I agree completely.
New love come 😂🎉
I'm wondering how they're managing their washroom
So good to hear he have the freedom to do something else
i have watched industrial fishing where they are pulling 50000 huge tuna fish in one pull and then i watched this video...just unbelivable balance
I recommend SLICE to try it in a country called Gambia🇬🇲. You'll find it interesting

Where is the toilet?
its amazing in 2022 that people still live like this. sad.
sad? who are you to judge?

Are you sure you watched the entire video?the techniques they use are ingenious so it allows fish to grow and breed well
They also receive icy imported fish and meat from the capital
I wouldn't be eating any fish out of there, not too much plumbing on show, flushes straight into the lake
What do they do with fifty thousand turds a day?
Might be exciting to have 3 or 4 wives 🤔
A fisher man and two wifes.
If I had a church like that to go, to I’d become religious!
I wonder where they build their toilets🤔
i guess democracy hasn't come here because there's no oil but fish
