Definatley lower the car at least 20mm get the static ride height as close to to what the regs allow, then look into using bump stops on the suspension to manage the aero loading.
The Red Bull f1 cars from a few years back used a high rake to create downforce on the rear of the car. Lowering the front, upping the rear to create an airflow like that of a hose when you squeeze it and the flow of the water becomes harder, it also creates a pointy front end wich makes for a sharper turn in, but the rear would be loose, but you can adjust that with the diffuser and rear wing. So i would say, do as you say about the ten mil each, get that splitter really close to the ground to create that flow effect towards the diffuser. Maybe a few big carbon winglets on the front bumper would do well too. Plus maybe use the skirts too to create an airflow towards the diffuser. Create some scoop on the front of the skirt and make a winglet on the inside on the back of the skirt to direct it towards the diffuser. Best thing would be to have an entire floor with two tunnels from the front to the rear to create ground effect. And all the other stuff
Oh man, what a tale! I offered them up and they're actually too short to reach my current arches because they mold into the quarter on an S3! Hoping I can make them work with the new rear arches when I get round to those, otherwise I'll send them back to you! Very grateful for the gift!
Do you reckon a few of the thunders would be sniffing around the fastest fwd cars in the uk that are used for wheel to wheel racing and not time attack
Josh Lawton did a round in Time Attack for a laugh a few years ago in the first version of his civic. ua-cam.com/video/Iu2bWogTEWs/v-deo.htmlsi=iJxVTNilaRnDTw6J
Josh Lawton did a round of Time Attack for a laugh a few years ago in version 1 of his civic. Search for time attack civic cadwell park. DannyDC2 did a vlog of it.
They're still a little bit off BTCC cars (they did 1:33 in qualifying at Donny GP last year), and I think the top guys in JCW Mini's would probably beat the top FWD cars in Thunders generally as well. But otherwise I don't think there's any other FWD car racing in the UK as fast as that, save for maybe James Allen's Ford Focus in Modified Fords
Good shout on the Minis! A quick search on TSL suggests pole in the minis is typically about 0.5s slower than the quickest FWD Thunders. Obviously wildly different cars, but defnitely a cool stat! James Allens Focus is a pretty awesome thing too. Would be great to see that in Thunder some day!
Prawn is alive! Wild sightings are extremely rare 😂 been head down working hard on the latest project pre Cadwell. Check out the vid just gone live now!
I love how we’re starting to see a “Poorman’s” CanAm arms-race!😁. Give Josh a chance to build a 600bhp turbo K24 motor(..!) before you improve your aero..!
It was a bit stupid question about drop the front splitter or bring the car down 😮 I mean the right answer you always want the weight(center gravity) closer to asphalt as possible . Also if you run the car closer to asphalt as possible the diffuser work better ,you will be faster at corners and better grip overall.
You're pretty negative man 😛 it's as if we've never won a race or championship and bumble around at the back of the grid 👀 Lowering it entirely in the chassis brings about plenty of issues. Roll centre, camber curve, driveshaft angle, tyre clearance, suspension travel. We're not entirely new to this, I just share more of the background workings than most people and invite some discussion rather than keeping it all secret like most 😊
An absolute pleasure to help the TPR cause 👌🏁
The man himself! Thanks for your help getting proper rubber on the car, Malc, gamechanger!

Lowering the chassis 10mm and then the splitter right down to reg height makes the most sense. Assuming the clearance is there to lower the car
I second this. Make sure to check the cv angle

Floor aero is the secret sauce on a racecar.
Looking forward to watching the race. Still not got them rear door blades on I see 😂

@TeamPrawnRacing ha no mate don't need them back. I'm sure you will figure some way out. Good luck for this season

A really good point. I think you are right. A 1:37 on Donnington GP is VERY quick.

Any sightings of the Prawn out in the wild, he seems to have gone MIA. Hope all is well

Great comment 👌🏻😂
Josh currently has insane aero, 100kg less, abs, and a chassis layout the VW croud can only dream of. Power is all I got right now 🙈

@TeamPrawnRacing I don't know anything about racing. Also didn't seen any of them. My knowledge is somewhere else...
