And I’d imagine his loved ones would describe countless days and nights of worry and heartache trying to find the magic words that would convince him to get (back) into treatment, to accept help, to make the “right” choice. And he may have even told them he was finished using and ready to turn shit around . . . but sometimes the last time, is the last time.

R.I.P. ... I'm ex drug addict, clean since 2008, but when i see my friends in the US and what stigmatization they are going through. Plus there is no free medical program to help those sick people, it breaks my heart. How someone even dare to judge them? If anyone think that was their decision no it wasn't, it's sickness and only with a help of good doctors and good program after x times you come clean. It's a shame becouse the US is the most powerful country, at lest they so in media, and i see billions are spent on some wars, but maybe it would be better to use some of that $ to help that drug criss that last for decades. It seems worse every year. Sad sad world. I hope and pray that Shifty went to a better place, place without pain and stigmatization.

You're spot on Norm. Another sad story of a life gone way too soon , impacting his loved ones. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and we all did some stupid stuff. But with the poison on the streets now such as fentanyl , it's a whole different problem. Unfortunately, I lost my daughter Lacey in December 2022. It has immensely impacted my family , and she leaves behind her now 6 year old son , who has been in my care since he was a few months old. I curse the people who are peddling that poison every day of my life , and hope that karma catches up with them very soon.

Sadly, my nephew passed away four years ago. He had many challenges. He finished his medical degree, was pursuing a post graduate degree. Life is tough for so many. Never make fun of anyone. As a retired Special Education teacher of At Risk students I saw a lot of tragedy. I was lucky enough to connect with an amazing social worker and often worked into the evenings trying to make students lives a little better. You would be surprised how many high school students become homeless and require food and shelter. Some of the toughest students were also my most amazing students when given an opportunity for success. Norm you may have known a friend of mine who sadly passed away. His name was Will Mcgregor. He was Albert Lee’s Bass player.
I've actually spent lot's of time with these dudes as well as his guitarist and sisters. dude we a class act and down to earth real la guy before it changed. played a show with his band in Beverly hills and I'm sorry to hear this but it was expected.. rip bro
