Would you have a copy of the weather? I would like to see the GAF that the pilot had looked at on the day. I think it is over confidence and lack of further learning motivation. I have seen low hour pilots who have not mastered x wind landings, but it does not stop them from continuing with dangerous landings in x winds instead of jumping in with an instructor to master it. I also think all VFR pilots should do some IF training in case they inadvertently encounter IF conditions and can safely turn back to the VFR conditions that they came from.
Are all Aussie airports being checked for fences at the end of the runway? Hobart has a fence.
