For air travel- two uses for small stuff sacks (or even a plastic bag will do). 1. When going through TSA, I put all my pocket stuff (cell phone, keys, wallet, ear buds, etc.) into a bag so they are all together through the x-ray machine, then I can find them all as soon as I get through. 2. Stuff sack with a caribiner to keep my essentials with me at the seat, my backpack can go overhead or under the seat in front but the sack has the things I might want to get to even when you're not supposed to have your bags out (battery pack, headphones, water bottle, small snacks...)
@@littlekong7685yes, but if the outlet is in an inconvenient location, so are your chargers. A cord lets you put them where *you* want it, not where the architect decided to put it.
Can confirm, my grandpa parked his Prius (he doesn’t have a garage so no worries there) one day and when he went to drive it THREE DAYS later, he found that it was still running!
Travel TIP: Keep a color copy of your U.S. passport ID page (name, photo, passport number, etc) in your luggage and in your wallet/purse. If you lose your actual passport (or it gets stolen), having a copy of it can expedite the process of identification AND getting a replacement while in a foreign country.
Great tip. Having copies of your passport is also handy for hotels, rentals, and other private companies who want to see an ID. I won't hand my passport over to anyone except law enforcement and airline staff, everyone else who asks gets a copy
My travel pro tips: • Bring an external battery • Bring some toothpicks • A book for take off and landing • A small backpack to store glasses, phones, passport, sunscreen, external battery etc when sightseeing or hiking. And I find pretty useful the KonMari fold.
Large ziplocks can be super handy as well. great as emergency bags for snacks or leftovers, fill with hotel ice and water for a refreshing icepack for sore feet, and going home, put the stinky clothes inside to preserve whats left for the final leg of the journey in the rest of the bag.
It's not really my business. However I would like to urge you to minimize the use of toothpicks and switch to dental floss or some contraption that looks luke tiny slingshot with floss placed between two posts. My dentist told me toothpicks ruin your gums by lowering them. Floss is safer bet. I hope you find this helpful.
Pick-off power cords (a through-plug plus a hanging plug) are just fantastic. They preserve a plug, are stackable, and allow wall warts where they would otherwise be physically unusable. An electroluminescent night light. Red is best, green is most common. Put one in the bathroom. Lastly, about 50 feet of 250 pound paracord. It's compact and you can use it for so many things. Not least of which is hanging your cloths to dry. At this point, unless forced to do otherwise, I'm a terminal one-bagger.

Adam, can you give us some tips you've learned about communicating complex topics to a general audience? A part of my work is communicating the importance and risks associated with certain mission critical systems in addition to how they work and I wanted to get your take.
Take the apron to a paint store, and there will be a device that measures the visible light frequency of the thing you point it at. From this you can interpret the color. Alternatively simply do the old stylie thing and get a heap of color swatches from a paint or fabric store to compare.
I’m in Belgium at the moment for a weekend break. Carry on backpack travelling light. 3 days. Used the rolling technique and it’s the best way to travel.
My biggest travel hack comes from having done a lot of hitch hiking, I pretty much just pack for about three days and then replace or wash things as needed.
Save clothes that you are about to retire. Socks with a hole , etc... bring that stuff with you and pitch it on the road. Lighter , less full bags coming back.

If Start-Stop cars even have an accessories mode they often do silly things turn it off after five minutes. Or you can't put the windows up or down unless the engine is running.
Thanks, @@AndrewWorkshop, I know how to get to accessories mode. My point is that it used to be a very simple and useful feature that is now hobbled and artificially limited for no good reasons. In addition to the artificial time limits some vehicles prevent you going straight to accessories mode from running state: you have to fully stop a vehicle before pressing Start again without the brake pedal to get to accessories mode.

I say that you should never pack all your stuff super efficiently so much that it fills your travel bags, because you'll always have more to carry on the way home and/or you won't want to perfectly fold your dirty stuff.
Keep a couple Powerbars in your bag. Great for when you get stuck, delayed, or arrive when room service is closed. And a club sandwich is my go to hotel food, but beware in the UK - some places put egg salad on it.
I don't know whether it's just my computer screen, but to me that apron canvas looks like a dark "raw umber" sort of color? Like a very cool-toned brown.
I have a similar annoyance with my AirPods. Whenever I take them out and am just on my phone, even if it’s an hour or so later and the case is in another room my phone and the case will link up. It’s small, but just annoying in general
I like the look of the apron, and the luggage sounds sweet. I agree with you about always on electronics. About the apron color question- My first thought was that you would read something on your apron and give a color answer, but I was wrong. Then you said you thought the questioner would have a hard time matching the color, and launched off onto other possible solutions. I thought to myself, 'he doesn't know' and 'why doesn't he just say so?'. Of course, after you'd shared your suggestions, you did say so (good on you for that). Anyway, I checked your shop-site, and it said, "With the use of natural materials, some variance in color to these images is to be expected in both the canvas and the leather materials."
People dying because they left their Prius running is an urban legend. Beyond everything else, modern engines run so clean that there's not enough CO (not CO2, come on Adam) to kill you, even in an enclosed garage. Nor do they depress O2 levels sufficiently either.
Indeed not only are they near impossible to destroy but I even found out that even the tiny ariport that did damage mine had a contract with Rimowa and instantly shipped a replacement and on-site in Cologne they would have repaired it for free while giving me the remote for the TV, a coffee machine and a comfortable sofa to wait.
My best hacks: 1. use a folder for piles of paper to store ironed shirts. 2. Bring extra underwear in your carry on 3. Be nice to the staff at the airport, especially when everything goes wrong. It’s not their fault.
Yeah, one can spend up to 10 grand for a single Rimowa luggage, average maybe 2 grand. Or buy some vintage Samsonite for like 50 bucks. I'm still using my grandparent's Samsonite from 1969 (I'm 60). Indestructible, they even have wheels.
A Rimowa suitcase is expensive but it's nowhere near that expensive. The polycarbonate carry-on is around 670 eur or 700 USD. The aluminum version being around 1000 USD.
@@mlykke I just scanned their website quickly and estimated two grand averaged out. I'm sure some are cheaper, there are many over $2,000. Maybe $1000-$2000 average is closer.
@@Drew_Snydermann The two typical Rimowa suitcases for cabin bags is either to Classic alu which is 1400-1500 USD and the poly which is 850-900 USD. Thats from the Rimowa website, but in reality you don't buy them direct from them so prices will be lower. The large checkin cases are 1150-1800. So overall a fair bit cheaper than your 2K average or your 10K claim, which was my point. They are expensive, but not that expensive. Just because they make some custom/limited models which are super expensive, doesn't mean the rest is crazy.
@@mlykke Even $500 for a suitcase is crazy to me. $500++ so the airlines can beat the hell out of it for you? Been using the $50 Samsonite since 1969 and still going strong. Rich people . . . .
@@Drew_Snydermann First of all a Samsonite suitcase costs quite a bit more than 50 USD today. Second, old suitcases are usually quite heavy and with airlines lowering the weight limits, especially for carry-on that requires lighter suitcases. I'm not saying you should buy a Rimowa, but 500 USD in 2024 isn't really that much. It's just a matter what you prioritize.
I've heard the rolling tshirt hack forever but does it actually safe any space? If anything you're running the risk of inefficiently rolling it and introducing more volume in the gaps. A folded tshirt is maximally space efficient right? Zero gaps? Maybe it just reduces wrinkles...
It doesn't save much if any space, but it does reduce wrinkles. Plus it makes the suitcase/bag easier to dig through for a specific item without *adding* wrinkles or needing to re-fold anything.
My 2017 Chrysler 200 radio has no power button, which makes me mad. Sure, I can mute the volume, bit that is not the point. It is graceless to be traveling and know there's static if I turn up the volume. If I answer a call I have to turn up the volume. Ugh.
I used to fly A LOT and I can agree with the soft suitcase. I hated having to gate check my bag (I've had baggage handlers steal from my gate checked bag). So I got a 2nd suitcase that fits in EVERY overhead bin. I often had to sneak it by the bag n*zi flight attendant, but when ever they'd confront me that it didn't fit I'd shove it into the over head with the comment "It fits!" You can't do that with hard suitcases!
The last dozen flights I've gotten on, they were gate checking halfway through the flight and by the time I boarded near the end the rear third of the plane was still half open. I don't know if it's just the flight attendants not communicating and just defaulting to gate checking or what, but it's kind of annoying.
A great air travel hack I use is carrying a usb c 10 in 1 explorer edition dockcase hub along with using an S23 Ultra as my main everyday phone. When i go to hotels i can just take an hdmi cable from the back of the tv, or bring my own, plug it into the hub and plug that into my phone. Instantly turns it into a laptop using samsung Dex meaning i have just unlocked all my streaming sites and games available on my phone. If you want extra usability a thin bluetooth keyboard, mouse and a small controller like the switch joycons (they work with android) means you can have a home theatre experience in any hotel
I like that Adam mentioned the importance of interfaces being simple and for the designers to no forget their utility. It feels like an increasingly common thing these days with the rise of AI implementation in devices. Those technological failures to function properly and as requested while operating a mass of material, surely gets people killed, as silly as that sounds.
I'll tell you what drives me crazy about Airpods Max.... the first pair lasted a month and then just wouldn't wake up one day. Apple replaced it. The replacement pair lasted less than one week. After a LONG time on the phone with support, and pointing out that I had purchased nearly fifty apple products over the last 15 years and never returned any of them besides these headphones, they replaced the replacement pair. That third pair lasted two weeks and bricked itself. Then I spent 3 hours being elevated through customer support to find somebody who could approve a refund even though it was past 30 days since original purchase. Three strikes, you're out. I'm EAGERLY awaiting gen 2 and desperately hoping they've fixed whatever the problem is, because it wasn't just me. The message boards were BUZZING with people who had the same issue with lemons. When they worked, they were hands down (as an Apple user) the best wireless ANC headphones I'd ever used. At least as good noise canceling as Bose and Sony (I'm a headphone freak, so I've tried all the big ones), and the interoperability with other apple products is crazy good (except yes, you have to put them to sleep to get them to stop dominating your devices) I just wish too that they could be completely turned off. I see zero reason for them to always be on forever and ever no matter what unless you completely restart the firmware with soft or hard reboot.
My brother (I freely admit that he is not normal) lined his luggage with sheets of kevlar. I found it rather too heavy, but I was there when he tested it - small arms. Introduce an AK and he's toast, of course. I"m not sure that I would respect a terrorist who was only using small arms, but it is what it is. Is that what you mean by bullet-proof?
For the apron color, take a good up close picture and take it to somewhere* that has a color match service ie paintstore, or even export image to pc and see its rgb breakdown. Can even try a google image search for matching color. Just some ideas.
Rolling your shirts is nice, but I’ve found you can roll underwear and socks into your shirts as well. For me you have to remember wherever your going, they have a laundry.
Dude, I have bought cars for less than that suitcase. Sorry Adam, love good kit but you will not tell me that thing is worth 2k. Wait, I have to rethink. If you travel most of the year for many years, maybe.
No "off" option on something non-Essential that can't be unplugged (or have the batteries Easily removed) is an Absolute, Automatic NO...with laughter.
Road trips. Change the oil and top off all fluids in the days BEFORE you travel. Check your tires. Bad tries? travel at night when roads are cooler. Cruise ship cabin choice. The highest deck and all the way forward outside balcony. Smoothest, quietest ride with a Captain's view into ports. Airline speed boarding hack. Not sharing that one, sorry. 🤐
Adam you have very good concerns about Apple products, which is why it baffles me that you guys at Tested continue to blindly and fanatically buy everything they sell and praise it every other instance. If you want Apple to stop doing dumb shit then stop voting for them with your wallet unconditionally, and don't do stuff like make 20 minute videos where you do nothing but try to justify Apple charging 250% the normal price for a thunderbolt cable by making unfair comparisons. They get away with stupid decisions because they know they will seemingly get your and other people's money no matter what they do.
Green is essentially in the middle of the color spectrum (~550nm), so red cannot be opposite unless you are saying all colors other than green are opposite. Exploring color choices and types of colors (electric, pastel, etc) might be an interesting segment. 🟣🔵🟢🟡🟠🔴
My travel hack: laundry detergent sheets (not dryer sheets…) have become hugely popular and affordable in the last fews years. Take a few full sheets with you and you’ll always have peace of mind knowing you can use an Airbnb’s/laundromat’s washing machine or can hand wash your stuff in a sink. The best part is the sheets can be easily torn into your desired size. They also weigh almost nothing and you don’t have to deal with messy liquid detergent ever again!

I really love my Briggs & Riley luggage, but they are insanely expensive
Also Clear and TSA Pre✅ are absolutely the best credit card perk I’ve ever received
Ranger rolling clothes is great to save space.
I have a similar annoyance with my AirPods. Whenever I take them out and am just on my phone, even if it’s an hour or so later and the case is in another room my phone and the case will link up. It’s small, but just annoying in general
Great video sir
2:27 earthquake?
I read that book about rolling shirts too man...
Top tip travel hack…fly business or first class 😏💥👍🏼👍🏼
7:20 "ranger green" would match pretty closely imo
Looking at all the links posted in the description I realize I apparently don’t make enough money 😂
Somehow Apple seems to hate buttons.
Travel hack fly 1st class LOL
Love to see the t-shirt hacks.
People dying because they left their Prius running is an urban legend. Beyond everything else, modern engines run so clean that there's not enough CO (not CO2, come on Adam) to kill you, even in an enclosed garage. Nor do they depress O2 levels sufficiently either.
What is your system?
Indeed not only are they near impossible to destroy but I even found out that even the tiny ariport that did damage mine had a contract with Rimowa and instantly shipped a replacement and on-site in Cologne they would have repaired it for free while giving me the remote for the TV, a coffee machine and a comfortable sofa to wait.
My best hacks: 1. use a folder for piles of paper to store ironed shirts. 2. Bring extra underwear in your carry on 3. Be nice to the staff at the airport, especially when everything goes wrong. It’s not their fault.
we ❤ t-shirts 👕
it's OK. your tangents are amusing & informative 😅
Ugh.
I used the rolling trick on my first flight ever
I need to know your tshirt system
@@chrisdonnell7200 Sometimes I think they do that to "encourage" people to upgrade their tickets to an earlier boarding order on their next flight.
I sewed my badges to my apron.
At least as good noise canceling as Bose and Sony (I'm a headphone freak, so I've tried all the big ones), and the interoperability with other apple products is crazy good (except yes, you have to put them to sleep to get them to stop dominating your devices)
I just wish too that they could be completely turned off.
I think he just meant it as an hyperbolic "very robust luggage, practically indestructible and will protect what's inside".
You're lucky TSA didn't give you a body cavity search because of the flake salt. 😂
Doubles as really, really good cocaine.
If you can find a half-brick, you can find an off button for consumer electronics.
Dude, I have bought cars for less than that suitcase. Sorry Adam, love good kit but you will not tell me that thing is worth 2k. Wait, I have to rethink. If you travel most of the year for many years, maybe.
It’s the favorite football of the ground crew.
Roll your “r” roll your shirt…
HOW DARE YOU QUESTION APPLE
That doesn't look green at all on camera.
No "off" option on something non-Essential that can't be unplugged (or have the batteries Easily removed) is an Absolute, Automatic NO...with laughter.
Hey your the guy from mythbusters i just realized hehe
This question has nothing to do with this video Flat Eathers are saying now We can't send radio waves thought a vacuum and space!
I'm kinda sick of being reminded of how sick I am of the tosses to memberships at the end of every video
