DIY - Making RC Plane CDI from Motorbike CDI

- This video shows how I make my ignition unit for my RC plane engine from a motorbike CDI.
The goal of this project is to make a working CDI at a lowest possible cost in an easy way that everyone can do.
I use this CDI for engines converted from whipper snipper engines, 26cc and 30cc. Total cost of this unit is about AU$30.
So, here is how:
1. What you need: a 4 pin DC CDI, a timing pick-up (or rpm sensor, pulse sensor(not hall sensor), rpm pickup, or whatever you call it), Ignition coil, spark plug, a 12V DC power supply (3s lipo).
2. Connection:
Refer to the diagram in the video:
- top left wire connects to pick-up sensor
- top right wire connects to Ignition coil positive terminal.
- bottom left wire connects to ground and Negative terminal of battery
- bottom right wire connects to positive terminal of battery
- negative terminal of pickup sensor, ignition coil and spark plug connect to ground.
- Ignition coil output terminal connects to spark plug.
3. How it works:
Every time a magnet or a piece of metal passes the pickup, the spark plug will spark.

Do you have any idea how much current is used // How long the battery will last before it needs a recharge?
A 1300 mah lipo would last several flights before it needs a recharge.

Cheers for the info, I am hoping to delete the entire charge system on a Gy6 based paramotor "if" I can get at least 5 hours (full fuel load) on a reasonably sized 3s lipo
