She is singing from the perspective of God. She is saying God is everything, good and bad, in everybody, and because of that God still loves all of us despite us ignoring our children, cheering on war, rape, doubt, the faithless etc. That is God. God is unconditional love.
I am the harm that you inflict I am your brilliance and frustration I'm the nuclear bombs if they're to hit I am your immaturity and your indignance I am your misfits and your praised I am your doubt and your conviction I am your charity and your rape I am your grasping and expectation I see you averting your glances I see you cheering on the war I see you ignoring your children And I love you still, And I love you still ----------- I am your joy and your regret I am your fury and your elation I am your yearning and your sweat I am your faithless and your religion I see you altering history I see you abusing the land I see you and your selective amnesia And I love you still, And I love you still ------------ I am your tragedy and your fortune I am your crisis and delight I am your profits and your prophets I am your art - I am your bytes I am your death and your decisions I am your passion and your plights I am your sickness and convalescence I am your weapons and your light I see you holding your grudges I see you gunning them down I see you silencing your sisters And I love you still, And I love you still ------------- I see you lie to your country I see you forcing them out I see you blaming each other And I love you still, And I love you still
She is indeed singing from the perspective of God, but more the Indian concept of Brahman than the Judeo-Christian concept of Yahweh, hence the Indian style of music played on the guitar, and the drone quality of the verses. The song is from the soundtrack to the film "Dogma" and plays during the end credits. It is ironic (wink wink) that the film deconstructs Catholicism, and yet Alanis is here singing from a point of view which transcends the very limited idea of "God the Father". This cannot be unintentional. I think perhaps director/writer Kevin Smith, who otherwise seems totally hung up on his own Catholic upbringing (and Alanis also) wanted to deconstruct Catholicism, and explore the idea that beliefs become true TO YOU only because you believe them. You act AS IF they are true - making them true by your actions. He is pragmatically suggesting that they (beliefs) are only ideas and other better ideas are always available - like Brahma, for instance is a better idea than Yahweh, in many respects, if not all. Amazing song, timeless, dealing with the duality of existence and the concept of a loving God which transcends us, and yet is us.
This song is so deep and full of meanings on God, humanity, society, patriarchy, feminism, community, sisterhood, etc.
This song is what love is. The absolute definition.

This song is timeless. It is a work of genius.
I don't know where I would be without her music❤️
Same ,💯
She was too deep for most people!!!!! Still, You Learn and Uninvited are my top 3 favorites. I like most of her songs.
Alanis Morissette has such a lovely voice, and she is just so attractive! Her voice and her beauty, mainly her voice, keeps me a listener to her art.
Amazing, so much more than faultless, even the tongue-waggling bits are flawlessly brilliant.
Great, great song.
ABSOLUTE AND UTTER BRILLIANCE!
Amazing live performance by Alanis 😍💯🎸
I am the harm that you inflict
I am your brilliance and frustration
I'm the nuclear bombs if they're to hit
I am your immaturity and your indignance
I am your misfits and your praised
I am your doubt and your conviction
I am your charity and your rape
I am your grasping and expectation
I see you averting your glances
I see you cheering on the war
I see you ignoring your children
And I love you still, And I love you still
-----------
I am your joy and your regret
I am your fury and your elation
I am your yearning and your sweat
I am your faithless and your religion
I see you altering history
I see you abusing the land
I see you and your selective amnesia
And I love you still, And I love you still
------------
I am your tragedy and your fortune
I am your crisis and delight
I am your profits and your prophets
I am your art - I am your bytes
I am your death and your decisions
I am your passion and your plights
I am your sickness and convalescence
I am your weapons and your light
I see you holding your grudges
I see you gunning them down
I see you silencing your sisters
And I love you still, And I love you still
-------------
I see you lie to your country
I see you forcing them out
I see you blaming each other
And I love you still, And I love you still
Alanis simplesmente perfeita ❤❤✌

I see you, lie to your country
I see you, forcing them out
I see you, blaming each other
And I Love You Still,
And I Love You, Still.
