    He’s absolutely right about the names. My father is Nigerian. He came to America when he was 25 years old, he had me at the age of 28 with my African-American mother. My mother gave us American names, but my father make sure we all knew our African names. So I have a first name, a middle name and a last name but I also have an African name.

    Czech you continue to showcase all walks of life in Ghana and it is very much appreciated. You are correct we do not see that side of Ghana in the media. This is very educational for all of those expecting to see only the jungle. This definitely takes me back to my time in Ghana during The Year of The Return. I absolutely loved Ghana, and the Ghanaians and you accurately described the warmth that you feel.

The camera reveals posh eclectic splendid homes with pristine manicured lawns serananded with pine trees. The impetus of the broadcast from East Legon. We see the Honeysukcle's edifice for the rich. In the South so many other languages. @@Yahawadah70ad Well said. Post-colonial Africans believe the 'government' is supposed to do everything for them. Their pre-colonial ancestors never had that mindset. Everyone was equally responsible for the development and upkeep of society, from the king to his officials to the people. If a street was dirty or filled with trash, the residents would get together and fix it straight away. Today, they would ignore the trash and blame ''the government'' for not fixing the street.

Why would he spend all his money to travel thousabds of miles to only come and see the same things he already seen in America? What is wrong with the REAL neighbourhoods?? @@rainbow3649 You guys want him to show "normal" to "poor" areas in Africa so bad as if media outlets around the world aren't doing that already. I live in Europe , and thanks to the media , people think Africa has nothing better to offer than bad infrastructure , poverty, political instability and wildlife to the point where whenever I travel to Africa my white friends ask me " What are you going to do out there, there's nothing to see". Is that the image of Africa you want people to have around the world ? You think people don't know already that most Africans are struggling ? How about showing the nice parts and the rich areas of Africa to show people around the world a more nuanced picture of Africa , to show them that there's a growing middle class and that Africa isn't a hopeless continent. How do you expect expatriates and investors to invest in Africa if all they see is negativity. Think brother....

    • @Yahawadah70ad

Is it the self sufficient African with his own land, a home and cattle or is it the individual in Europe/US working a corporate job who could get fired or laid off tomorrow? Some of us have given up that European/American infrastructure to enjoy this rich African wildlife you take for granted. You projected your feelings about Africa in the first half of your statement and you assume others share those same feelings.

    • @FeelingsAintFacts
      @FeelingsAintFacts 8 місяців тому +2

      @@Yahawadah70ad Your perspective is very delusional brother, where I currently live , If you lose your job we have an unemployment system in place you can rely on, if you meet the simple requirements the government will pay you 1000 euros per month until you find another job and they'll even help you to find one, and even If you're not eligible you could still have access to the 600 euro per month welfare system available to any unemployed citizen. The self sufficient African you are describing mainly lives in rural areas but they are very limited in terms of the lifestyle they can maintain. On the other hand, 500 million Africans live with less than 2 dollars a day, most African countries don't have free education , no free healthcare or welfare system whatsoever, rampant unemployment levels and corruption which leads to the unequal distribution of wealth.. So be honest, who is really poor and struggling. Of course , Its not all sweet in Europe/America, but do you really think countless of migrants would risk their lives to get to Europe if they were better off in Africa ?

Are you not paying attention to the current global situation? At least Africa has agriculture to fall back on. They can barter trade during tough times if need be. Also "emmogration" will soon stretch jobs too thin across Europe and the US. You'll fully understand by 2030 lol.

    The naming conventions in Ghana are diverse and culturally rich. It's important to note that the names which might seem 'English' are often Christian or baptismal names. This is because a significant number of Ghanaians in the mid and southern regions are Christians and, as such, they frequently adopt Christian names. Conversely, many individuals in the northern part of Ghana are Muslims and tend to have Muslim names.
    Moreover, those without religious affiliations usually choose indigenous names. Interestingly, some ethnic groups in Ghana assign names based on the day of the week a person is born. For example, 'Kofi' signifies a male born on Friday, embodying 'The Harmonious Soul', while 'Kwaku' represents a male born on Wednesday. Similarly, 'Abena' is a name given to females born on Tuesday, and 'Kwabena' for males born on the same day.
    In addition to day-based names, other names carry symbolic meanings. 'Aboagye', for a male, means 'One who is powerful and complete', while 'Acheampong' translates to 'One that gave birth to the king'. 'Akosua' is a name for females born on Sunday. Each of these names reflects the rich cultural tapestry and the importance of names within the Ghanaian society.

    Yes in Ghana .. your first name is the slave master’s name .. middle name is African name .. last name is your family name .. this is 90% of the population .. but it’s gradually changing - some now have full African names ..
