pinna park being a second hub world would explain why theres unused text of a scenario where mario meets a family of tourists in both delfino plaza 1 and pinna beach files
Imagine cutting out a bunch of things from your game like a whole hub world all for the sake of pushing it out on time. Like, imagine if they were given another year to polish this game....
6:28 The camera DID zoom in slightly when Mario was launched though. This was not present in the pinna park launch sequence. From my point of view, it looks like a better cutscene then the unused version.
I love how this gives insight to the original plans for the game vs what it became. This type of stuff always fascinates me because I grew up with the game. Great work! Also, no worries on having to delay the video!
Great video. I also felt like Pinna island will be an extension of the main map when it was first revaled to me ny the story. The unused door animation almost singlehandedly comfirms that. Thanks for sharing your insights and recreating the cannon scene!
On top of that, there's clear areas where level entries would fit, that are even backed up by leftover data. Pianta Village and Noki Bay were both apparently supposed to be accessed in Pinna Park instead of Delfino Plaza. Noki Bay through an unused version of the shell ride, Pianta Village through that tree with the pianta face that's still in the game. tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Sunshine/Unused_Objects#Gate_Shell tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Sunshine/Unused_Objects#Goop_Gate_Portals
To add to all this: Pinna Park is the only stage in the game to have an Episode that's relevant to the overall plotline (Shadow Mario's true identity and Corona Mountain being the next destination) unlike... every other stage. Perhaps it's a remnant of when the level was originally a second hub?
Wow, this is actually big! The mock-ups and said theories can be seen as a concept that indeed could have worked like that. I love content like this. xD
I KNEW IT! I always had this theory. I bet it was at the same point in development which the train station was supposed to take you around the island, rather than teleporting around. You would need to physically travel from area to area, meaning you would need a way back from Pinna
No need for an apology at the beginning my dude. We all got things going on and I appreciate that you scripted this video out. Makes it much easier to follow along than trying to cover it all unscripted. 👍
What if the cannon was set to launch Mario to that one cut level from the game located to that direction? Plus I also think that cause the locations of both the Plaza and Park and the other places were always the same following media from the game during development, so I don't see how the cannon was aiming at an early position of the Plaza tbh.
You're like Magic Scrumpy but still active. I subscribed I love sunshine! 😍

This was a really well put together video. Major props for all the work you just have put into it!!

This is the kinda stuff I love to see in Sunshine! I'm on the grind to do stuff like this.
Really neat stuff. Pinna would kinda make sense as a second hub world since it seems very tightly packed like Delfino.

I like the idea of the second hub world better than what they ended up doing with the final game
"hodai_mario" -Sure was nice of the Princess to invite us over for a picnic, eh, Luigi? =P

Watching this video a second time and enjoyed it :)
Very nice video! I also really like the artwork for your character, it's cute!
I actually found your channel thrue this video, good job.

Awesome video! You really put a lot of effort into creating those mock-ups.
And don't feel sorry - perfection takes time.
UwU
This was actually super cohesive. Amazing job!! (Now it's time for me and my brother to reverse engineer it and get it all working properly) ;)
How did I miss this video
Could you upload the cannon and Monty Mole model to The Models Resource since nobody has done that yet?
A game theory
Maybe the Snooze-A-Koopas spawned after a certain amount of Shine Sprites were collected, rather than being Episode 4.
7:23 Lol
If you've remade the entire pinna beach in delfino plaza why not upload the file? I would like messing around with it!
i don't have it anymore, but it didn't have pinna park's collision anyways, so it's not really playable. lol
Can you make more robot 64 videos?
maybe
