As one person put it, "Street Fighter 2 is like The Beatles of street-fighting video games." (Which would make Mortal Kombat the Rolling Stones.) They weren't the originators of their genre, but they led a cultural explosion. They did things well and were so well-liked that others wanted a piece of the action while still doing their own thing. World Heroes, at least, tried different things... which is more than I can say for others.
Watching Gee Gus get launched into a mine, bounced off an electric fence then re-bounded onto yet another mine Couldn't help but bring Nordberg from Naked Gun to mind...
Cool to see this game again. I wish this one had stuck around, it has a lot of ideas that were quite inventive at the time. Some of the character designs were also kinda cool.
Lots of fighting games that came after Street Fighter have been called Street Fighter clones, but few know that Street Fighter was also inspired by other fighting games before it.
"You have done well. You are suitable to be the strongest in history. Without further ado, let's begin the award ceremony (Ganondorf hijacks the waves) GREAT SCOTT!"
@SeppukuDoll Before Samurai Shodown, there was Namco's Knuckle Heads. And unlike most fighting games during its time, Knuckle Heads allowed up to four players to play simultaneously.
@MHMemeDoubleYourFun Actually, at the time, I recall people referring to FPS games in general as 'Doom clones' and real time strategy games as 'C&C clones'. The modern expressions didn't catch on til some time later.
You're wrong,Street Fighter 2 and World Heroes were both out about the same time.Samurai Showdown didnt come out until a year later so World Heroes wasnt a"Rip off" of either game....
Nice analogy someone made a while back with SF2 being the Beatles of fighting games, and Mortal Kombat the Rolling Stones. What's World Heroes then? The Beach Boys? The Monkees? Herman and the Hermits? WH was fun. An obvious SF2 knock off, but enjoyable. Haven't seen this game in 18 years!
Would someone do a playthrough of all Neo-Geo versions of the World Heroes games using Hanzo? He is the protagonist of the franchise. When I think of this franchise, I think of how ADK (or Alpha Denshi) became a partner of SNK since their 1987 arcade game, Time Soldier (known in Japan as "Battle Field"). If you think World Heroes is a poorly-developed fighting game, then that's what ADK is known for. They weren't as experienced as SNK was in developing games back then.

They made two sequels....so it did stick around?
Even if you lose to Janne, her laugh is just too cute!

Isn't Janne based on Joan of Arc? I don't think latex existed back in the fifteenth century.
It's called "artistic license."
Actually, I'm wearing tight leather under my armor, that's why my legs have that glossy shine.
RocMegamanX 🔜🏢🐩👞😀
Janne d'Arc I most definitely approve!
World Heroes 30th Anniversary since 1992.
Man, Dragon is the toughest character for World Heroes!
LONG LIVE ALPHA DENSHI.
Thank you for remembering the real creators of World Heroes! ♥
Marshall Law + Fei Long = Dragon
This is fun on SNES and sounds completely satisfying to me.

Nostalgic!!!!Wonderful!😄😄😄
Whatcha gonna do brother when Muscle Power runs wild all over you?
Good job. That's why i love Janne!!
Her ending's a little sexist though. Fighting just to get laid and wed?!
os melhores jogos de arcade.
The announcer sound like he has no interest of the whole fight!
Dio: What a Disgracing Failure for caught exploded by land mines & electrocuted by electric wire!, Geegus!

This francise has officially turned 30th.
15:52 BTW, the ending credits sound like they came from _Blue's Journey!_
Yeah, and I guess you dont realize thats on the Genesis/SNES ports as well as Sunsofts logo.
Is there an extended version of her ending's music? It starts to get really good and abruptly fades out.
Great Video!!!😍😍😍

LOL mbison rippoff? or balrog rippof?
More like a Shang Tsung ripoff at the end!
Shadow Heart Not really. Bison is the CEO of a large company while Brocken is a war cyborg made for a futuristic world war
Guys, she brought a sword to a street fight, anyone else a little concerned?
Too bad, I would like to see a "Hair-splitting" battle.
This game is not only a rip off of Street Fighter, but also Samurai Shodown. Look, there's an armored blond french lady with a sword. Wait...
It's released in 1992,one year before Samurai showdown's release,do some research you idiot.
Samurai Shodown came after World Heroes.
you can tell this isnt the Neo Geo arcade version.its either the SNES or Sega Genesis version
4:30 Arnold Schwarzenegger?
