My friends, to me, this masterpiece is one of the finest compositions ever written for guitar. Listening closely to the harmonies, the ornamentations, the changing of voicing, and most of all the delicate, incredible rhythms simply astounds me.
When I was taking classical guitar as an elective in university, our instructor gave us a list of classical pieces to listen as an assignment, and this piece was one of them which I thought was the best one in the list. After a week he was expecting us to play something from Fernando Sor, while everyone was preparing and tuning their guitar I did play Milonga-Cardoso and he got suprised and we had an awesome connection and chat with my instructor. Its been almost 7 years and we still talk about music and have fun time together :)
This Milonga is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest compositions ever for guitar. By the way, Cardoso has an incredible book for guitar technique. Pura Vida!!!!
I plan on actually getting into instruments here soon, I forced myself to be so focused on finding a job that even still being jobless I see the importance in segmenting, without complacency
I'll never forget the first time I saw a student playing this piece in a simpler version but it was so beautiful that I felt for it immediately and it has and will always be one of my favorite compositions ever.
its a masterpiece.i have many years to listen a piece so soft and fragile.i love it!!!! i feel that i can travel with my mind in places of my fantasy with pain and salvation.....no puedo escribir mis sentimientos...
Beautiful milonga. Thank you for sharing this music.
One of my favorite songs to play, although while learning it I never got to listen to it played, so I learned it differently, still I love it. But to listen to it played by the composer... a whole new world.
This is one of the most beautiful guitar pieces I've come across in quite some time. Of all it's interpretations, I still like the maestro's performance the best.
Grazie concertista Jorge Cardoso. La saluto con affetto e rispetto dovuto come persona e come artista.
over ten years ago I picked up a CD of Cardoso called “TAÑIDOS” (Música barroca española, 1992) in which he plays compositions by such greats as Gaspar Sanz and other early Spanish guitar music. I liked the Sanz so much that I spent the next couple of years collecting everyone who ever played Sanz. I got Hopkinson Smit, John Williams, Julian Bream, Andres Segovia and many others. What I discovered is that NONE of these great guitarists came even close to playing as well as Cardoso's versions!!!
you are right, jorge's version is still the only one played according to the rules... the other one is the great marco meloni ua-cam.com/video/BkpKRnlY1RI/v-deo.html this two great musicians really know about baroc music
Because Cardoso learned guitar without first learning how to read music notation. So his ears are trained harmonically... It's a joy to listen to his advanced interpretations from his knowledge of the folklore that gave rise to the composition.
It is best to play in all three speeds- slow, medium and fast and then to adjust accordingly to what suits you as a player individually. I think we should go within & allow our own natural speed develop as the composition inspires us. In East Indian and Middle Eastern music various speeds are emphasized in composition to creates ones own improvising style- this is not so much the case in Western music. This is a beautiful piece & I truly enjoyed listening to it by the original artist!
Very beautifull playing by the composer himself. Full of nuances! The milonga is not to be played at a quick tempo - and although is very much related to Tango it has a very different character. Those who insist in playing it at a fast speed or demanding it to be played that way only reveal their ignorance on Latin American culture.
GRACIAS JORGE !!!
Almost everyone else on youtube seems to be playing a different and simplified version of this piece, although the score for the version played by Cardoso here is available online.
The Composer himself... amazing.... who the heck is sungha jung ?!?! i'm here cuz i'm learning how to play this Milonga by Cardoso Sounds amazing. i gonna try to play it as good as him. gonna take me a whole YEAR(±)
BEAUTIFUL so well performed his sound is so well sth american any ideas what guitar he may use here ? agree such fine piece first time i heard i thought must play it
I've been learning this for the past its really a touching composition. It a Difficult piece hard finger transitions. When I play it I don't staccato the note I let it all ring (for the part). It's a very touching piece Much props very! Jay-
you konw, there ar so many "milonga jorge cardoso" on youtube and is verry hard to find in all of them the only one that couts... this one, the one of the maestro himself!
Jorge improvise other voices to his pieces when he's playing. In a concert he plays the milonga a first time lile written, and then one or two times again with other voices. The milonga is also a duet, as played as duet he improvises also other voices.
..The air of the milonga You don't lose just like that as long as there is a guitar argentinian or oriental Maybe it's changed a bit But it's just the same Dawn in the pampa late night in the city The milonga has been lost They can't find it... Everything said - a true masterpiece

This is the very reason I play guitar.
So do I 💕
Same 🌺

Its tough. But I will see if the guitar weeps for me when the time comes
I'll never forget the first time I saw a student playing this piece in a simpler version but it was so beautiful that I felt for it immediately and it has and will always be one of my favorite compositions ever.
Because of the beautiful masterpieces like Milonga of Cardoso, I say "Music is Life". Thank you for the worderful moment in life!
Very beautiful piece of Jorge Cardoso played by himself, nostalgic and amazing. Everyone would like to have written such a piece of music in his life!
I have heard several players playing this ....... the best is still the composer itself. I love this recording.
its a masterpiece.i have many years to listen a piece so soft and fragile.i love it!!!!

One of my favorite songs to play, although while learning it I never got to listen to it played, so I learned it differently, still I love it.

Soo Good!! Especially when he combines the two guitar lines.. I used to play this as duet together with my brother.. brings good memories..
Hi Turan, do you know if there is a TAB somewhere for the way he plays it here? Especially the modification in the 2nd part?
I don't know if this is what you are looking for, anyways, here you have 1006.idv.tw/scores/6%20String%20Guitar/20th%20century/Cardoso/067.pdf
One of my favourite composers...! I love the simplicity and the beauty of this composition...
Exquisitely haunting. Guitar mastery like this is godlike.
It's actually not a difficult piece to play. Try it Tabs available on classtab.org
Its not about difficulty or speed. The real challenge is putting your feel on the instrument and making people get those feels with your music
This is one of the most beautiful guitar pieces I've come across in quite some time. Of all it's interpretations, I still like the maestro's performance the best.
Perfection. Now I know how it should be played
Increíble versión, hermosa y elegantemente adornada.
You can see the feelings on his face when he plays, beautiful performance.
One of the most beautiful guitar songs.
Bella milonga, interpretada magistralmente.

It is so beautiful and dreamy! I'll play with my teacher! I listen loop in time to impregnate me well.
Here's the lush playing as it should be without losing the ongoing rythm.
But what do you want? The composer himself! Great.
oh my god.. Thank you make us watch that magnificiency....
Una obra perfecta, gracias maestro.

it's actually for 2 guitars but he plays the 2 in one
(because he's a boss)
absolutely
Nope. This recording is solo guitar. You can see the fingering is complete for the sound achieved.
@@johndevilbiss6607 the comment says its played on one guitar
How many times have you watched this?

...El aire de la milonga
No se pierde así nomás
Mientras haya una guitarra
Argentina u oriental
Tal vez ha cambiado un poco
Pero es la misma nomás
Amanecida en la pampa
Trasnochada en la ciudad
La milonga se ha perdido
No la pueden encontrar...
..The air of the milonga
You don't lose just like that
as long as there is a guitar
argentinian or oriental
Maybe it's changed a bit
But it's just the same
Dawn in the pampa
late night in the city
The milonga has been lost
They can't find it...
