Materials needed:
26 gauge craft wire
barrette - I used 3 inch but any size will work
chip beads 12 inch stand - gemstone, shell or glass
Tools
chain nose pliers
wire cutters

I really want to do this one but when i looked at the chip beads on firemountain gems website they have several different sizes of them... mini, small, medium, large, extra large... which size should i get ? i'm new and don't really have a stash yet or any frame of reference to go on... :) p.s. also... it's been 3 years since you made this video and i believe you said you were giving them to your mom... was wondering how they held up over time and use and is there any changes you would make today..? thank you

No, I never painted the barrettes. The metal isn't visible in your hair.

how secure are the beads? do you need to add glue for extra security?
No glue needed, the wire is very strong and secure. You will love these gemstone chip barrettes they are some of my favorite barrettes that I have made.
I am having trouble keeping the first row of chips on the barrette. That row wants to slip off (wire going over the top instead of staying on the side.
