This is from the Andrew Durant Memorial Concert so Chisel are represented by Don, Jim and Ian, Richard Clapton, Brod Smith, Mick Pealing, Mal Eastick, Renee Geyer. Truly great show

This is before my time. I wondering whom Andrew Durant is. I assume he a musician that died at time, but what band was he in.
Looks like a lot of different singers and parts of bands together in this song that I assumed performed on the night and this must have been a song they all joined in together.
Looks like three members of Cold Chisel on stage of Ian Moss, the first singer on guitar, Don Walker on piano and Jimmy Barnes towards end.

@@shaundgb7367 Hi Shaun, Andy was the main songwriter for Stars, a country rock group from the seventies. He died from cancer and Mal Eastick organised the concert at the Palais Theater in Melbourne in 79. They had one run through of the show and it was pretty average according to them. But on the night it was magic. You should check out Ocean Deep sung by Broderick Smith. It is magnificent. Other great songs by Stars on the night were Jupiter Creek, Back again, Paradise, look After Yourself, Good Times and Jim Barnes singing Last of the Riverboats, all on You Tube and you can still buy the Video of the whole concert.. A great Australian lineup and a great tribute to a man taken too young

I'm so happy you found Aussie soul in this video.. we think rock will get views, but soul makes the world go round, show me 8 people in this video that don't got soul... it's a trick question because everyone got soul

3 Chisel members were present, inc. Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss on guitar and vocals (the song opened with him singing) and Don Walker on piano. They all have solo careers.

Jimmy and Renee, a vocal marriage made in heaven. This was not a cold chisel concert. It was a tribute to Andy Durant, a beautiful soul. It was a very emotional concert with the cream of aussie talent. I think even jimmy surprised himself with his vocal power that night. First we have The legend Ian Moss of cold chisel then to start the song, second, Mick Pealing, frontman of stars.Third, Broderick Smith. Then Renee Geyer and Jimmy Barnes, also singing richard clapton, mal eastick of stars. Mal plays that guitar solo, there was a lot of pain on his and micks face that night. Andy Durant was a vital founding member and main songwriter for a band called Stars. He died young of cancer and this was a memorial concert for him. On stage from cold chisel was Don Walker on piano, Ian Moss, guitar vocals and of course Jimmy Barnes, The woman eas legendary Renee Geyer who we recently lost as well. You are so spot on about the feeling if the old days, we didnt have videos, thank you so much for playing this.

All the Aussie fans tend to think of Cold Chisel as a rock band but Barnsey reckoned they were a blues band.

I don't think I've seen this version before not all the people on stage are regular members of Cold Chisel but looks like lead singers from other bands also in amongst the group. The woman looks a bit like Renee Geyer but I can't see her properly. Also looks like Richard Clapton I there.. I've seen another song from that event somewhere. Just can't think what it is atm. I am going to hunt it down cos it's driving me nuts

Ahh I found what I was looking for. This was from a memorial concert for Andrew Durant musician song writer who died at on 25 years. Only 3 of Cold Chisel were there Jimmy Ian Moss and Don Walker. Along with other singers and musicians that Andrew had worked with. It does mention Renee Geyer but not Richard Clapton...but it sure looks like him

@@carolynh8866 Yep that's Richard Clapton. He sang a couple of songs at this concert, try to hunt down the DVD. Mick Pealing (sang the second verse here) is one of the greatest singers I've heard, he was the lead singer in Stars. So much talent here. mal Eastick on guitar went on to play with Jimmy Barned when Cold Chisel finished. Not many can follow in Mossy's footsteps but Mal was the perfect choice.

Cold Chisel are Jimmy Barnes obviously, Ian Moss lead guitar & vocals on Saturday Night, When The War Is Over, Bow River, My Baby to name a few. Phil Small on bass, the late Steve Prestwich on drums and main song writer, Don Walker on keyboards, I also think he may have an honours degree in Physics/Quantum Mechanics which he completed during Chisel days as well as working as a theoretical physician in weapons development, I kid you not! Crazy.
While Walker was the main lyricist, some of the classics were penned by some of the boys not necessarily known for their songwriting. When The War Is Over and Forever Now by Prestwich, and Flame Trees by Prestwich and Walker. Could write a banger! Phil Small wrote the absolute belter, My Baby, Moss wrote Bow River and Never Before, Barnes wrote You Got Nothin I Want , Rising Sun, My Turn to Cry. Obviously that's not all of them but shows every one of them wrote at least one of their absolute CLASSICS!
But Don Walker has to be Australia's greatest or equal greatest songwriter, Paul Kelly a close second then Farris, Hutchence, George Young and Stevie Wright. Nick Cave unlucky maybe?
