I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Every USA men’s foilist is such a character and win or lose they’re a delight to watch. If I had to pick a favourite, maybe Chamley-Watson for the unique technique and hair? Love their energy
I've met Race....he trains in my area (did some armory work for him and his girlfriend at a camp I was working when he was still with Golubitsky). Nice guy...but then again, I was dealing with him in a professional context as an armorer, not as a competitor.
Because.... Other teams become very good. Here's Italy's results in Men's Team Foil 1. Bonn - silver (lost to USA) 2. Paris - silver (lost to Russia) 3. Tokyo - gold 4. St. Petersburg - 5th (lost to Hongkong) 5. European Champs Dusseldorf - bronze (lost to Germany) 6. WCH Budapest - bronze (lost to France) So yeah, just one gold. The other teams were very good when they beated(?, I kind of forget what past form of beat) Italy, and they are generally good team
Is there a sport that's actually about swordsmanship? Like, a first to draw blood sorta thing? I'm starting to get into this fencing stuff more and more, but after seeing these world championship videos it's starting to look more and more like a more intense version of tag, only in this version you're both the tagger, and you're each holding what appears to be a very long but thin limp d**k
God. You can see a lot of swordsmnaship in fencing. But to be honest. At those levels the ammount of stress and the importance of every move makes It like this
Chamley-Watson needs to spend less time showboating and actually trying to improve or else he's gonna be booted off the national team for Itkin, not to mention he peaked 7 years ago
Do you have any idea how bloody that would be? The only reason the swords bend/have buttons is so that people don't get hurt. You should watch/play airsoft if watching people get hurt is fun to you lol
I think you'd be interested in HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). I'm more on the HEMA side of the fence, but I foil "fenced" with my father growing up and a little in college and had a phenomenal time doing it! Try both, if you're able!
The sword is made of steel bruh. If they made it any more rigid ribs would be broken and lungs would be punctured on a regular basis (which has happened before).
I feel like this isn’t even skillful like all their doing is trying to touch the other person before the other person can their not even really fencing at all
You've got that right. Have a look at the old-timey fencers, they were really good at actually fencing. When I fenced in the '70s and '80s, we were taught by some really cool coaches who wanted us to learn sportsmanship and gentlemanliness, not ego and win win win!!
God. This is Foil. You don't get a point for touching the first. Could explain this for you. But I don't like to see my sport getting hate by someone that doesn't know the basics

The competitor from the US is such a character
Yes. It's called arrogance.
@@sorchamundy1994 well they won lmao. Against russia too
4:26 Incredible touch
There were at least 2 counter parries and I think that was an attack on preparation
Amazing foil fencing!
Greg VonSeggern 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I guess I imagined fencing being like a sword fight that lasts a little while.
Then check out HEMA fights.
Breathtaking touches, one after the next
This is the fucking funniest shit to watch at 0:57 hes just like BOOP
0:26 can anyone explain this one? Cheremisinov was the first to hit
Insufficient contact
If you watch it in slow mo, u can see that after they both hesitate embolden initiates the attack first so he has the right of way
I just turned it to x.25 speed and muted it so theres no laser and now its quite entertaining.
what laser lol
Was the livestream for mens team foil final taken down? I couldnt find it anywhere
IGots5killz It got copyright striked. It’s up on FFE
Thank you for that tip!
@@garchompdude thank you!
@@garchompdude Do you have a direct link? I found the site, but I don't read French and there's no translation option, so I can't search for it.
👍👍👍👍
I'm so glad they finally uploaded the videos!
So why didn't Italy do well this year?
Because.... Other teams become very good. Here's Italy's results in Men's Team Foil

They had that "hug a chinese" movement to avoid being called racists. So yeah, that's how they got F'ed up this year
I have no idea what this is.
Fencing appears to have become more of a joust than a display of actual swordsmanship.

Untrue tbh
A little slo mo would be nice...
looks fun
forza italia
Can somebody explain the rules to me please?
Since my english isn't the best, I cant. But there are a lotta videos over there where are well explained.
2:05 "too scared"
I likely have to make the playback speed 0.25 to acually see what’s happening
Chamley-Watson needs to spend less time showboating and actually trying to improve or else he's gonna be booted off the national team for Itkin, not to mention he peaked 7 years ago
How right you were lol
They should give them real swords: That's the sport I wanna see.

IMBODEN!!
This is by no means sword fighting. Let's rename it to "touch the opponent with a piece of wire first".
Hehehe try bending the sword urself
who hurt you

@@sebastianjin9817 it’s not a sword 😂
BOOOO!!!
why?
They are playing a stick 😅
This looks so boring 😅
This is getting boring 😐😶😒
This is the dumbest sport I've ever witnessed.
U're the dumbest person I've ever witnessed
And why is that?
Russia got wrecked!

ok join the national team then if it's so easy
