Really cool video. Daily drive a 13 V8 overland that I still absolutely love. I think the stock exhaust sounds great.
I had to machine the manifolds and do the gaskets at around 100k and the stock stuff all came right off easily. Stainless is amazing.
Thanks. My car looks like it's already had the manifolds replaced thank goodness
Nice upgrade. Almost stock sound, but better and not obnoxious. That's exactly what I'd like to do with my HEMI.
I've installed these SRT exhaust on several of my friend's cars, still love it, I think it is the perfect setup
Thanks again for the video and instructions on this kit i recently installed this option i am very happy with the results!!!
I actually just installed another one on my friends Jeep this week. His was a 19 summit, he used trackhawk tips and it actually looks really good.
Anyway, it's been a year, and I still love mine. For me, being my daily it's perfect
Awesome video man. Considering a ‘21 5.7 GC and this is exactly the sound I’m looking for. Currently have a ‘23 300C but won’t be a practical daily. Getting the GC with the 5.7 and this exhaust setup will satisfy both worlds. Appreciate this man!
I like this idea! Sounds great, straight through design, no drone! 👍
Got a 14 limited 5.7 id like to add an exhaust to, but I also don’t want to lose daily drivability this seems like a great route!thanks for the upload
Ditch the rear resonators for tips. Leave the suitcase muffler. Makes it just a touch more aggressive sounding
That's funny ,got to see what Iy sounds like without the exhaust,so true, good video rich guy
I have a 2010 Cherokee with the 5/7 and a 2007 charger with a 5.7 I like tht sound
Wow I watched this from start to finish, you hit everything needed from an exhaust video. Pretty sure the only stock WK2 5.7 with an SRT exhaust on UA-cam I’ve seen so far.
Finding some tips that look a little better might have been a good add to the video. Those Shrek ear tips are a little out of place however they've kind of grown on me and I've left them for now. If anybody find some better tips for these that are easy to install, posted here!
@@ExoticCarDIY I’ll probably hunt for different tips, I have the catback sitting in my back yard and like you mentioned could probably sell them for something that fits better.. I really liked the tips that were on your old catback.
@@KuranHeerNow I still have those, they're sitting in my shed. But obviously they have to be welded on, I'd have to check the diameter of the input to the tips
amazing nice work i learned something today!
Good times right there!
I recently had the same idea to do this. Glad somebody else tried it first so I know it will work lol. Excellent video man.
Still pleased with this after many years, I've actually installed several more on my friend's cars. I have a lot of performance cars, and so I own one of those draggy devices, and surprisingly we found that the SRT drops the 0 to 60 in quarter mile times significantly, almost one second faster
@@ExoticCarDIY Just out of curiosity (cant remember if you said it in the video or not) what year is your jeep in the video and what year SRT did you get the exhaust from? I have a 2020 Limited X.
@@williamhermann6635 my Jeep is an 11, I've installed them on a 17 and a 2020.
I honestly can't remember the exact years... If I remember correctly all SRT exhaust is will work however there are a few years where they put a valve in exhaust... The one with the valve will still work, but you'll have to somehow assure the valve stays open
12:02 it is not so restrictive, my stock 5.7 300c awd , could hit 252km/h, and after made some changes on in/exhaust, no big differences, stock is really well optimized, for ex: front pipes are 63mm, rear are 56 behind suitcase muffler, because it makes gasses to cool down, so if you just replace that front muffler but you do not replace 56mm pipes with bigger, it restricts hot gas flow, and avoid sharp pipes connections because it make turbulence
I am changing the exhaust on my Hemi powered Jeep GC. The cats broke loose and are rattling around making the engine think there is a misfire. I am hoping for a weight loss and sound gain. I can't tell if its running from 5 feet away. I need to hear a sound and a hemi should not be muffled. If it was a little quieter with the exhaust off and not hot I would consider leaving the pipes off. Not really.
Sounds good I need new exhaust on my commander
good compromise , it sounded like ass blatting away in the before vids
I've had this for 3 years, and I've installed one on several of my friends cars, we've all been extremely pleased.
One interesting note as well, my buddy has an identical 2016, and we raced several times, and my old 2011 would walk him by a few car lengths. After we installed the exhaust on his car, he's back to being even with me. So there's definitely a performance pump
Sounds great, very inormative. Sounds just right for what i'm looking for. Any chance you can share where you're sourcing these exhaust from? Looked around forums/craigslist/ebay/offerup without success. Given your channel you probably have connections I do not haha.
Any recs would be awesome. Thanks!
Patience is key. I've found them on eBay, Craigslist and mostly FB marketplace. Try using "searchtempest" as it makes searching regions very fast. The last one for a friend we had shipped MI to FL. We used 'uship' and it only cost $125 to ship
First thing, GREAT VIDEO !!! What I wish you would've shown was how to remove and reinstall the mufflers to the rubber hangers. I have to replace my rear drive shaft and must drop the exhaust from the mid muffler back to gain access. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
The rubber hangers are a pain lol. Lube is your friend.
Use a small screwdriver or pick and make a gap, a then squirt in little soap or even wd40.
Once lubed, your can usually push with both thumbs on there metal while pulling with fingers on the rubber.
You can also pry with a long screw driver to get them out.
Once lube, they go on pretty easy as well
nice sideburns bro
Afterwards definitely sounds smoother and cleaner than the clappy raspy redneck sound!
Agreed, I've since installed several of these on Friends cars, everybody's been very pleased
The stock 5.7 exhaust is pretty much the same straight thru design it's just 1/2" smaller.
I can't speak for the mufflers, but the suitcase is completely different. The non-srt suitcase has baffles and turns, the SRT suitcase is completely straight through.

@@ExoticCarDIY Oh, yuck. That thing looks restrictive as hell lol. I should have phrased that differently anyway. The rear mufflers (resonators?) Are pretty straight thru. You can see baffles in there but you can also see the outlet from the inlet. That suitcase is awful.
lol I’m in Charlotte too with the save overland
Nice! So the exhaust was on eBay, I was the only bidder until I was halfway to Charlotte, then someone else bid! I couldn't lose, so I used the buy it now. I wonder if the guy I was bidding against is going to see this video someday and thumbs down lol
Thank you !
Hope the vid helps. There's a few for sale in the southeast. Just keep your eye out
Love it. Just bought a 2017 Grand Cherokee Overland, looking to add a muffler on it but nothing crazy loud. Just a slightly deeper rumble. Would same year SRT exhaust be a good method of thumb to achieve my desired results?
I forgot the exact years, but all 11-20 SRT will work, but a few years has valves in them that you will have to deal with. I will double check the years and get back to ya
Yo 🤴 King Midas, what the heck do you do for a living to acquire $300k worth of vehicles. I need go back to school. Nice collection 👌. Sounds 👍
Never buy new,
Choose your cards wisely
Never lose money on a car

Great video! Have you installed or heard these swaps with the suitcase muffler deleted? Found a good deal on an SRT exhaust, but the suitcase has been deleted. Just wondering how much more volume to expect from it.
Plenty of srt guys with suitcase deletes, I have not seen a hemi with that setup
Great video! I have a 2013 and found a SRT OEM catback from a 2015. Will it fit my 2013? Also, will it fit in the back of my JGC for transport?
Yes it will work, and yes it fits in a grand cherokee, bring a lot of blankets for padding. Check out the last few seconds of this vid and I have a picture of it in my jeep
@@ExoticCarDIY I did buy the SRT catback from the 2015 Jeep GC and had a local muffler shop install it. It fit fine with some minor mods. The SRT exhaust tips were okay but, I decided to replace them with some 5" chrome tips. Jeep sounds great. No highway drone. Love it so far.
@@MrDonnieCross awesome!. I'm curious on how your tits look, I still haven't addressed mine yet. I installed an SRT on my friends 2019 summit, we used trackhawk tips and it looked great
SO I have a 2018 Trailhawk with the 5.7. Is it really worth the time and effort? I can get a 2015 SRT exhaust off FB for $100. Local exhaust shop wants $200 to put it up, (seems expensive) plus tips and a uhaul rental to get it home. Based on your comments its perfect for a DD and mine is. Especially with there being no highway drone.
I've install several on friends cars, and we all love them.
BTW they can fit inside a your Jeep. No need for a U-Haul
On draggy I picked up .3 on the 0-60 as well.
Great video! I just purchased a 2013 JGC 5.7 hemi and I want the aggressive sound but like you I don’t want the drone noise while cruising. Other than the SRT exhaust, is there anything else you recommend that I do to achieve that nice sound like yours? Like should I remove the suitcase and replace with something else? Or should I get new mufflers? Any information would be helpful. Thank you!
I mean, there are several different systems available for the jeep, magnaflow, Corsa etc. For me, I was in a pinch and on a budget, and there just happened to be an SRT exhaust for sale so I tried it and I love it.
You can try to swapping out the mufflers, or maybe install an x-pipe instead of a suitcase, but obviously the sound may vary
One huge benefit I found is that they're actually is a noticeable performance increase with the SRT exhaust
My friend and I both had identical Jeep Grand Cherokee summits, and we would frequently race and mine would consistently beat him by a few several car links.
He eventually also upgraded to the SRT exhaust, and now we are exactly tied on every race LOL
Install electronic exhaust cutouts right before the rear mufflers, for the best of both worlds. I’ve got a 2017 JGC Summit Edition with the 5.7L fully open sounds great, not too loud and no drone whatsoever. Completely closed puts it back to stock, nice and quiet for the neighbors. The kit comes with a little wireless keychain clicker to open and close the cutouts at your convenience. It’s been a pretty Awesome custom mod for me so far. @ExoticCarDIY Great videos you are very knowledgeable and do a good job! Keep them coming.
Hi you put on the exhaust from srt?
there is a larger pipe diameter, yes?
Hemi 2,5"?
Srt 2,75?
great sound
dude you got a sick deal there is one by me for 700 .. considering but i dont want to spend more than 500.. would you know if the 2021 srt oem exhaust would fit a 2016 5.7 ?
Check FB, Craig's, offerup, eBay regularly. Maybe even wanted post on for wk2 groups on FB.
I'm not sure about the 2021. I noticed the part number for the regular hemi exhaust changed for 2021, but it might be since they are now silver instead of black.
Don't swap the Cadillac pipes! Btw you in south Florida?
@@ExoticCarDIY I'm in Miami. You hear Cadillac pipes here all the time. 😂 hence why I asked.
12:56 how did you get the pops? Just bought a 2013 overland 5.7
Apparently they all make that sound, but with stock exhaust you just can't hear it. On the forums, they call it the hemi fart 😆 anyway, my car is completely bone stock other than the SRT exhaust. I believe for that particular shot, I did have the back glass open so it was more noticeable than it would be with the glass closed.
If you still have it... can you sell the flanges you cut from the SRT exhaust system?
fucc i wuda gave u mine for free jus takin up space in tha garage. i str8 piped my overland 5.7 shits loud af and tha drone isnt really anoting unless u jus drive in sport mode
Humm funny that’s the same as 5.7 exhaust? At least mine anyways suitcase is the same Size as well ???
I think I figured it out. The OEM SRT is 2.75" EXCEPT at the inlet of the suitcase where it chokes down to 2.5".
You probably saw my size corrections in the video, I was confused as well. My understanding was that it was V6 is 2.25, hemi was 2.5 and SRT was 2.75. I believe that is correct except for at the inlet of the suitcase. For some reason the Jeep thought it was necessary to choke them down there. Weird huh?
@@ExoticCarDIY heads aka Cadillac converter‘s are 3 inch and then down to 2..50 pries to suite case after the case it’s down to 2.25 3 inch all the way back with some flow masters is best for the wk2 or else get a bubble effects on the exhaust plus the back pressure the 2.25 gives better torque on the lower rpm range the more open your exhaust gets the more power In The higher rpm range
Srt exhaust is not the same as the Limited v8 exhaust?
Different diameter, srt is straight through design, no baffles unlike the limited
So. I really want to do this, but I seem to only have Durango SRT cat backs in my area for a decent price. Are the Durango tip and muffler hanger locations close to the same spot? Does anybody know?
The Durango system is longer, at minimum it would have to be shortened. I'm not sure if the hangers are the same or not
How gettho ?
question ... you showed a picture of the internal of the mid muffler for the 5.7 , are you 100% sure that the srt mid muffler is straight through and not the same ?
Yes, verified by borescope camera. go to 16:12 and i even put the footage in there for ya;)
What year srt exhaust did you get. I'm looking to do the same for my 5.7 limited X.
I think it was a 15. Apparently a few years have spring loaded valves in them. While they'll work, I would try to find one without valves.
But then again, they are hard to find. If it's a good price just get it
Went with a Gibson.
Will a yr 18 srt exhaust fit on a yr 14 limited hemi?
Yes, there are a few years that the SRT had valves in the exhaust. I'm not sure what your specifically, but either way, it still should work. You'll just want to figure out a way to keep the valves open
Hi did you ever exchange the exhaust step?
No actually. The Shrek ears actually kind of grew on me. When I installed another set on a friend's 18 overland, we actually put trackhawk tips on there and they looked amazing but his bumper already had a rectangular holes for it from his factory overland tips.
Dude has 3 weekend cars and a jeep but needs more subscribers to afford a tool lol
Just a hemi😅
Because I have a 5.7 Grand Cherokee I was interested in watching. I hit stop as soon as you started talking metric. Goodbye.
You can't understand how numbers work? You like fractions and doing complicated math? Other than a few third world countries and the US of A the entire world uses metric. Of course the scientific community uses only metric around the whole world, including US.
Hi, just wanted to say, I like your production style, your pre-amble doesn't go on and on and on, but get right to the point, or job. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man, I just started out, so I'm definitely still learning. It's tricky to get the information you need in there, without it just rambling on and on with needless talking
