    I watched this to see how to change the belt.. I thought it would be a lot more complicated adjusting the tensioner etc but you made it look easy.. Thanks a lot for making this video

    Hi, just like you said nightmare to replace alternator when the engine is on the car. I'm doing that on the drive way in front of house and I'm already crazy with problems how to remove it. It is enough for today but i have a feeling that tomorrow is my day 😂😂😂
    Tnx for your videos about this, you are the king 💪
    It is Mondeo 1.6 diesel

    Thank you very much, you saved my sanity. The clamp-bolt thingy under the alternator was a big head scratcher to me 🤣

    Hi Alan, sorry to drop this here but can make a video about the AC system on a mondeo?
    Mine has some issues, It used to blast very cold air before, I was freezing in the car when I was setting the temperature to Low and now it barely keeps a comfortable temperature and we're not even in the summer. Changed the polen filter, filled up with gas but it doesnt blast cold air like it used to. Also noticed not a lot of condensate drains down the bottom even when its hot outside. The AC compressor engages, I can feel the engine when I switch it on. Are there some other checks I need to perform before changing the compressor? Thanks

    Hi Alan, hope you see this message. I have a 2007 2l tcdi mondeo mk4. Is it the same procedure or can the alternator be changed from the top by just moving the power steering pump?
    Your videos have come in very handy for me. I bought a run down 57 plate. Got loads done just this final job which i wasn't expecting, the pulley started squealing yesterday and actually fell off while driving today!!
    Thank in advance

    Where does the old alternator belong? Or is your one still in working order?

    Great Vid once again...does that clutch unit come apart from the alternator or if its knackered do you have to replace the whole alternator? My belt is flapping around a bit so I might have to check that clutch unit I recon....cheers

      @alan4x  6 років тому

      hi, yes it does come apart from the alternator but i find that by the time the pulley is worn out the alternator itself is not far behind

    Thank you very much. Im gonna ask why... Just WHY, do they have to place engined the wrong way in cara 🤣
    Might need to replace alternator... And its kinda tight in there.. but diddent think I'd need to disasemble half the engine

    • @alan4x

      with the fuel filter housing removed the alternator is fairly easy to remove, its just a pain to unbolt engine mount and lift engine a little

      hi, one of the little end bearings started to rattle quite loudly and acording to the driver in the space of a few hours.
      the engine had done 207k miles but it is the first one i have now with this problem... i have no idea why the bearing went so we just replaced the engine with a good used one

    Could you not just replace the pulley? rather than bin the alternator?
    If you feel the voltage regulator will fail shortly after, just replace that too. Cheaper than a new alternator

    Hello Mr. H,Its me again, as I cannot bring myself to leave my car in the hands of another man (mechanic) ,because I treat my car like my wife :) I have yet another question for you.I have noticed that in the IPC ( Converse +) secret menu or when using an OBD reader I see that my charging /supply voltage is erratic.. going 13,65 to 13,95 than down 13,80 or any of the values in between and also they are changing very fast up or down.When I rev the eng up, the values seem to get steadier in the upper values but still changing between 13,.80 to 13,90But measuring the voltage at the alternator output or battery I get a steady 14,35 - 14,40...Unfortunately the mechanics/car electricians in my area otter morons that told me that I need to change the power cables between the alternator and battery.When I told them that I have already measured the resistance of the cables (+ and - , both disconnected from battery, alternator and car body) and its 0,04 and 0,03 Ohm so perfectly fine.... they insisted on that.Sorry for the long post.

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  6 років тому

      hi, lol, well your alternator output will in most cases fluctuate from 13.8 volts to 14.4 volts with the engine running which is fine as long as the charge rate is not significantly outside those limits. the voltage stabiliser is part of the alternator which will control the fluctuations so as your car is charging within limits and everything is working fine i would leave it alone

      Thank you very much for the reply Mr H.I have started cleaning the negative connections to the car body and positive between alternator an battery and everywhere I found power connectors that were not protected (hence bolted). And there are no changes. So you are right, nothing to do here an I will leave it alone.Your videos will help keeping my car running for long time to come.Thank you for thanking the time to do these videos.

    Changing the alternator is easy. Try putting the belt in with the engine in situ......

    Hello, good morning, I am a follower of your channel and I am contacting you, to be able to comment on the following situation that occurs in my vehicle, Ford mondeo mk2 2.5 v6, one morning the battery was discharged, without knowing how to change the battery, when month or so, the car stopped in full operation, it was as if the electricity had died, stop, giving it and giving it until it started, again as if the battery was without charge, it was only a month old, I changed the alternator regulator , and well, I bought it, it charges over 14.5V, and I considered the fault finished, one day cleaning the interior, I left the radio on, while I cleaned, and nothing a few minutes later, the voltage began to drop, less to less, until the battery was discharged at that moment, I was surprised because that had never happened to him, I did another test, with the battery charged again, I gave the contact, after a short time, equal to less to less , that in a moment the battery goes away, I recharge it, install it, and leave it and connected approximately 2 months, until I realized that the red light of the alarm did not blink, I checked it and discharged, that did not happen in the past either, it carried out the current leakage test with the multimeter, because I told myself that this would have to be a current leak, it is the logical thing to think, and what was my surprise, that the value it gave is 0.02 amps, with the battery just charged, so there is no current leak, I have also carried out the voltage drop test and it gives 000v both positive and negative, and then what happens to it? I don't even know what else to do, regarding what I am explaining to you, I await your prompt clarification, please, greetings.
