i love how people hate on the teardrop notch and mention how it shows it age...but then you've got the iphone that has that full blown intrusive cutout on the top and everyone is ok with that...i dont get it...
It looks beautiful, and i think it's a great phone. Dont know why people think SD765G is a disadvantage, every test I saw confirms that it's more than capable chip.
Agreed. And, yes, the chip is more than sufficient. I have it and performance has been flawless and untistinguishable from my friends' and family's Galaxies, OnePluses and iPhones.
I just bought this phone I love it. The sound stereo quality is loud and that's great for watching videos or streaming. Love the camera features and the 5G makes it fast. Thank LG!
Good review! People need to put some respect on LG phones. They haven't all been perfect but the company has always offered good value and I appreciate that.
For me, it all started with the Optimus G. I wound up buying 5 of them. Then, it was the Optimus G Pro (only released by AT&T), which I bought several, including for friends and family members. I then got an LG Optimus G Pro2, which was only released in Korea. Then, I got the V10, then 2 G 3's, then 5 V20's, a V35 and lastly a V40. I will actually get my Velvet tomorrow. How sad I was to read that LG has decided to exit the phone market. They never marketed the phones or whored themselves out to the U.S. carriers like Samsung and Apple. While I do own several Samsung devices, I still have a love affair with LG. It looks like the Velvet will probably be my last LG phone. Just last week I bought 2 Motorola Edge Plus's. Stunning phones.
I have the 2017 LG Fiesta. I'm used to using it and it's still working fine. But I will be getting the LG Velvet next. I'm a senior and admit I'm very nervous about changing the sim card. You have shown how easy it is and I'll be brave and just do it. I have Tracfone carrier and they don't sell the LG phones so I really have to change the sim card. ha Thank you!
Great review! Love my Lg Velvet 5g phone. Was previous Samsung switched over and no regrets just love it. Only 2 colours came to Australia, grey and white, would have loved to have gotten the illusion sunset colour but i put a pink case on my Aurora white coloured phone and its perfect. The sound on this phone is amazing the display is incredible too. So many features it has and one major feature over Samsung phones is that this phone has a head phone jack ☺ buy it you wont regret it.
Another little thing: Wacom Bamboo pen support, which I think is brilliant. This is such a well rounded phone for the price. Even the haptics are fairly good. The payoff of the notch and 765G is definitely worth it imo for the overall experience. If you speed up the animations under developer options and pop a launcher on, this phone is a great all around package.
After a while missing Lg phone just got the Velvet and personally I love it ! Just sad that they didn't make the dual screen case available in Canada and the border is close -_-
Same just got it today. The duel screen will be coming to Canada shortly. I think they are waiting for there other duel screen phone to sell more. then they will bring the one for this out. That's what ive heard anyway.

@Moody Cat I'm not really familiar with the V60 so I can't comment. I'm still happy with the Velvet. The only thing I really don't care for is the swipe back feature.
I don't know if I bought a faulty device. I bought the t-mobile variant. However, the battery isn't as good as I thought. It looses 5 percent of battery with sparse browsing within an hour. And that's with extended battery saver on, and brightness set to 12%. Is this normal battery drainage for the phone? Did anyone notice this when theirs was new?
Been interested in this phone for some time, finally acquired 1 in sunset last week. Went fron an S9 which was great; I Absolutely love this phone, feels and looks very premium. Would highly recommend.
How would have the 800 series chips improved performance? What were the options. What would have been better. It’s kind of a waste of ram to use an ‘inferior’ chip if they could have spent a few dollars more to make this more competitive. Most people value ease of use and touch response and responsiveness, so in this day in age, I don’t think there’s an excuse for lag, especially in a 6.8” phone.
Honestly the 765 is almost as strong as a 845, it should be enough for most and I hope this phone does well. I do however wish they used a better wide angle camera
and just to be clear...the performance between the 765g and an 865 processor really isnt all that noticeable.....i have a moto edge with the 765g in it. I also have lgv60 with the 865 and cant really tell the difference at all between the two unless you get into hardcore gaming....other then that, theyre pretty comparable performance wise
You get allot of flagship features that makes the competition seem way too over priced, plus it looks great, comparing it to my wife's note 10 plus it has everything hers have but the velvet has a few things hers doesn't and she paid over a $1000 for hers.
Please tell us the software and performance shortcomings. Because this phone supports two beautiful screens, the UI looks as good as any other Android phone, things load quickly.... Like, sure if I got expensive smart phones for free to review and looked at spec sheets and nitpick negligible differences that don't matter, sure, the Velvet isnt as "strong" as an iPhone. Or Pixel 4. Or whatever pointless comparison you can come up with. But, in the real world where people are spending hundreds of dollars on a tool, and in your very own video review, everything opened up quickly and switching between apps was smooth. So please explain to me how the software is "weaker" on the LG Velvet.
Great video! FYI, though, I have the Velvet and I have noticed ZERO performance issues, even while heavily using the dual screen - like, to play games using one screen as the game and the other as the controller - amazing! - or while attending a Zoom meeting on main screen and emailing and/or working on the other, or while using the camera on the main and reviewing and editing the great photos taken on the other screen. There are many uses to the dual screen; all it takes is the slightest amount of imagination or creativity. The main camera takes excellent, very detailed, colorful shots with great dynamic range. And, you made no mention of the full, smart stylus support that, when used, essentially turns the Velvet into a Note competitor.
@@darrenbrown9126 I just tested the difference between the headphone jacks between my Velvet and my son's V60. We used an expensive set of earphones he had just purchased. I can tell you that the difference wasn't that great. They both sounded very good. The V60 was louder relative to the sound level chosen on both, but the sound quality was great on both!
I wish i.could find the dual screen for my at&t LG velvet.. Does anyone have one for sale?its impossible to find one not even at&t sells them anymore i love my velvet so much my favorite phone ever..
Yeah they're almost impossible to find except it from the device. I think part of the reason is not every version of the velvet supported the dual screen. For instance Verizon I think released one with a dimensity chip that didn't actually have dual screen support. Every now and then you'll see an LG velvet with the dual screen sold on eBay but I don't think I've ever seen a dual screen sold separately on eBay
Regardless, the Velvet is available in the U.S. while the Nord is not. When OnePlus releases a Nord variant for the North American market we'll definitely compare the two.
I am rePly liking this phone. Currently trying to decide between this, the stylo 6 or the new pixel 4a. The pixels battery just isn't good enough for what I want I don't think though so I'm about it
This one has a metal frame, unlike nord which has a plastic frame and does break. Cameras on the velvet looks nicer, Op nord looks smoother (90 hz screen). If you want a premium feeling budget phone , go for the velvet, but if you like gaming go for the nord
