I just lost my mum a few weeks ago.... all my family self isolated to make sure they could be at the funeral and hug me, so they could come see me and help with my son and sort my mums property. Nobody had the chance to catch COVID and we kept clean and isolated ❤️ as long as your safe then ignore what anybody says ❤️

Hey Colleen I hope you do this. Can people up-react this so she see’s it!! I just wanted to talk about what you said about educating people from the prospective of a Black person. I really appreciate that people are waking up and want to learn about everything that’s going on. I know that people won’t always get it right and I appreciate that. But I’ve also had like 50 different people message me asking questions and my opinions and wanting me to tell them about my experiences with racism. I don’t think people appreciate how exhausting that is. It’s not the duty of Black people to be everyone’s educators. We’re dealing with so much horrible stuff and having to then spend hours having conversations with white people about race and correcting their ignorance is so exhausting. I’m not saying you’re doing this (you aren’t) but a lot of people think Black people exist just to educate them which is another form of racism because it just treats Black lives like they’re only valuable when they’re doing something to benefit white people. So it’s important to talk about educating positively, but people also have to understand how difficult it is being Black and how when people ask us really ignorant questions for the 100th time, we aren’t always going to be upbeat and positive about it. You should read into something called ‘Tone Policing’. It happens to Black people a lot and is why we can get very angry during these conversations. Much Love. !!!
