I first heard this tune from a background fill tune off a StewMac tutorial. It was done in the key of G, which made it easy to learn by ear. It was with a fiddle and a mandolin. It's a great, catchy tune no matter the key.

Every guitar player I encounter plays this tune in G major configuration with capo on 3. Rhythm or lead, doesn't matter, while fiddlers and mando people have to know the Bb fingerings. Ugh, but worth playing in for serious musicians. The scale seems to be straight forward after a couple weeks effort, and sticking with this tune. Of course, it can be played in G once tabbed out note for note from Bb, but it does sound better in Bb.
NIce - definitely will learn it ASAP. Love it.

Why is Bb Major a tough key?
In fiddle playing its a tough key because my index finger crowds up against the A string peg when striking the Bb on the A string but I don't understand why it would be difficult on a mandoline particularly if one is playing the Bb on the D string 8th fret I think

Yeah! I definitely still struggle with Bb on the mando--but it's not as hard as Db or F# tho 😨
