Hi Aya I learned that when we have savings challenges to color in it's best to just do check marks rather than coloring, you can also purchase checkmark stickers they save your envelopes from being stained just a suggestion.😊

Question: what is your plan when you're paying the bills? Do you go to the bank and add to checking, or do you add the money to another account you've named, i.e. say you name the new account 'bills'? I assume you could do that cause its easier to pay via online banking these days, but im always curious to hear how people who save like this pay for categories like car payments, rent or even gifts.
Like would you purposefully buy a giftcard for target/walmart/H&M/GAP, etc. to ensure that the money is spent on its intended purpose, i.e. clothes + perfume, vs. accidentally spending the money on eggs when you use your card in the store....?
Aw thank you!! 😊 Here’s an explanation on how I pay my bills!:
Rent: deposit into checking and pay online
Car Insurance/Netflix: go to teller and deposit into my mom’s account
Car payment: go to teller and deposit into my mom’s account
Utilities and Xfinity: deposit into checking and the bill is an automatic payment
Phone: send to my mom on our bank’s app
Cash stuffing bills is easier for us so we don’t leave it in our accounts and spend it accidentally.
For other purchases, I do not buy gift cards. If I am using my debit card, I look at my receipt at home and take money from each category I spent from and deposit it back into my checking.
If I use grocery money for groceries and toilet paper, when I get home I will take the amount I spent on toilet paper from my household envelope and put it back into my grocery envelope.
I don’t find myself going to the bank often. It’s also close to me so never out of the way when I have to go. If I have money to deposit but am getting paid soon and will be withdrawing money from my paycheck, I will usually keep the money I need to despoil and just withdraw the difference just so I’m not depositing only to withdraw. Hope that makes sense!
For the 52wk challenge, maybe try using white cardstock to divide the 2 sections since the envelopes are black. 😊

If you are already a month ahead on your bills money, why not stuff all that extra money into dental and emergency fund?
Because I want to maintain being a month ahead. Right now, I have my rent payment for May 1st and have half the payment for June 1st. If I put that money towards something else then I will eventually fall back to having only 2 paychecks before my rent is due

Thank you!! ❤️ and no, I’m just going to keep that money in each bills envelope. My month ahead envelope is going to eventually have 3-6 months worth of expenses in case we lose our jobs or something like that. It will not be touched unless we are not getting any income! Hopefully that makes sense. I want to be a month ahead on my bills (I am now) and also have 3-6 months worth of expenses saved in my month ahead envelope!
