- This is a basic demonstration on The Behringer Cable Tester, Model CT200 - Multi Cable Tester. This cable tester is a very good choice for Audio Technicians. It is Microprocessor Controlled and can test 8 different types of connectors. Nice video! I myself have been using this tester for two months and I am very satisfied.
A bonus is testing with a tone generator in three possible dBu levels.
Thanks for the info!
the tester has a problem with 10-meter TS guitar jack cables with a cross-section of 0.75 mm. In the RCA reduction it indicates 21.12 and blinks.
I have a bunch of Speakon Cables at the school where I teach that all keep testing with the 'Open' Error and don't pass. Any idea what that could mean? Am I doing something wrong?
Other cables can pass like XLR, TRS and RCA. Just every speakon cable get's the 'Open' error.
Without performing the test myself I couldn't really speculate on what is going on. I tested a 4-Pole Neutrik and it passed. Other than taking the connectors apart to see if something is loose, not sure I can be very helpful, sorry about that.
I tested my RJ45 cat5/6 cable it’s showing all good but with the GND/shielded. Does it mean it’s ok??
Without seeing exactly what you have, if all 8 indicators light up on the tester, the cable is good. If by chance the ground indicator does not light up there is most likely an issue. Hopefully this helps.
Great video! How about testing installed cables? I saw somewhere that you can test installed cables by plugging in only one end… can you do a vid or comment on that? Thanks
Here is what we have on UA-cam so far regarding your inquiry ua-cam.com/video/Md9N9eI9gx4/v-deo.html around 11 minutes or so into the video. Thanks
So we have to use adapters in order to test a mono guitar lead which is why I bought this unit...what a wonky machine...omg...pfffft
I wouldn't exactly call it wonky, it's simply the fact that the ring and sleeve on a TRS connector are 'joined' on a TS connector. It passes on the RCA cable test because, like the guitar lead, RCA's only have two connections as well. The cable tester is in fact displaying the correct 'error' when putting a TS cable into its TRS jack because the ring and sleeve a 'shorted'. Otherwise you'd need a cable tester with separate TS and TRS 1/4" connections which most do not have.
@@tokendave8630 Thank you. I think it's very disappointing, a typical performing musician like myself is chiefly concerned with mono cables and we don't want any other connections involved that can complicate the issue. I've certainly had phono to jack adapters in the past that have gone wonky. We want to plug the cable directly to the tester.
