I agree. He is definitely sure of his opinions on issues and does not flinch. Bernie Sanders is the same. Politicians who are assured of their beliefs on issues
don't stutter. That does not make them right. It just assures their supporters they will hear what they want to hear.

Skilled evasion isn't transparency. It certainly isn't honesty. And I'm a Democrat saying that. Pete just couldn't come out and say "look, I support women's right to choose to have an abortion, even in the third trimester". That would be honest and transparent.

@@shaunlee8425 so you must've completely missed the overall premise that yes, he is pro-late term abortion BUT it's not as simple as "oh, I've changed my mind I don't want this baby anymore so I'm going to get an abortion in the third trimester."
I'm VEHEMENTLY against unnecessary abortions. BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I agree with Buttigieg, in the cases where denying an abortion would lead to both the baby and mother dying, it should be legal to have an abortion. Anything excluding the guaranteed death of the baby or the baby and the mother should NOT be a valid and legal reason for getting an abortion PERIOD.
Abortions should ONLY be considered in cases where it would save the baby from the suffering of a deadly disease or birth defect, or would prevent the death of both mother and baby and that's pretty much what Buttigieg said.

    • @GR3YS0RG4N1CS
      @GR3YS0RG4N1CS 5 років тому +4

@Frank Migliozzi you're right, in cases where the baby and mother would not die if she doesn't get an abortion, it IS murder to abort a pregnancy. What I and Buttigieg said should be allowed literally would only keep the number of deaths the same or lower the number of deaths due to pregnancy and childbirth NEVER increase the death rate.
Abortions would only be used as a means to prevent the loss of both mother and child or reduce the child's suffering by not postponing their guaranteed death due to some life threatening complication.
If you see an animal that got hit by a car and is going to die, are you going to just stand there and watch it die or are you going to either put it out of it's misery yourself or call animal control who will do it for you? You're going to do one of the latter two options unless you're a psychopath. Same concept are you going to stand by and watch your baby slowly die in excruciating pain every single day of their short lives or are you going to prevent your child from ever having to suffer from their life threatening complication in the first place? It's called mercy. But if the baby and mother are guaranteed to live through labor and not suffer some life threatening complication then the mother shouldn't be allowed to have an abortion PERIOD. It should be done to preserve life and not because "I don't want it".

About the health care question: In Germany, health insurance is provided by private companies, heavily regulated by the State. Patients can choose which health insurance company is more suitable for their needs. They HAVE to pay for health care if they have a job and make money. But they can choose the doctor, hospital, treatment and so on, they want. The doctors know which treatments are covered, so patients never get charged. If they want a non-covered extra treatment, they can ask for it , knowing in advance, always, how much they will pay for it. Anyway. in the States it is always a nightmare, never knowing whether I am going to get a huge bill in the mail after a given treatment. Why cannot we have something like that?

Besides his sexual preference, the fact that he is of devout faith, quite young and certainly not unattractive, had been in the military AND seen action and seemingly quite approachable all make him an interesting and viable candidate. The fact that he hasn’t spent time in DC is much less of a negative than it is a positive; it certainly limits the questions about campaign donations from industry lobbyists at the very least. I really hope he gets a fair shot at candidacy.

This is the guy🏆 I am a black woman, over the age of 50, navy veteran, Born in Pittsburgh PA, now a San Diego resident, and I just love everything about this guy. He comes across very knowledgeable, caring... he truly is a breath of fresh air. People keep saying that he’s young and I think that’s a great thing! He’s not a teenager! He’s a man that’s about to turn 40 in a couple of years and will have to live for many years with the policies that he will put in place as president. I have nothing against people that are older who want to leave something good in this world before they head out but, I am more excited about mayor Pete knowing that he could possibly have another 50 years to live with the decisions that he makes now as president. So I feel like he’s going to want the best for all of us. His transparency is just amazing. Yet I believe that he has the intelligence to know when to keep sensitive information where it belongs. This man has served our country and can speak several languages… How many presidents can say they’ve done all the things that this young man has done? He’s the right age and he’s the right guy💥🇺🇸🙏🏾

Why would you say you can't have "Medicare for all that want it" PLUS the existing systems? I'm Australian & that's EXACTLY what we have! We have Medicare for all & it handles almost all life threatening cases & then people choose Medicare waiting lists, or paying for private health insurance to bi-pass the queues if they want to.
Seems logical that's the path the US should go down. Cover everyone for life threatening & insurance companies can no longer engage in hostage negotiations with people's lives & as such must appeal to people with value for money. That's exactly what happened here when Medicare was introduced, insurance prises dropped year after year & we now have a situation where costs are SO competitive that only not for profits are even left in the health insurance market!
We choose our own doctor (& hospital if needed) & Medicare pays a set fee & the doctor decides if they will accept that fee or add a surcharge to our appointment/operation/procedure etc. If they want to charge super high, then they better be super good, or they will have no patients willing to pay their fees.
Private insurance picks up the gaps, but also sets limits as to how much they will pay, so again we will be out of pocket if we choose a doctor/hospital who's decided they're good enough to charge beyond those fees. Insurance companies will compete with each other in various ways, some offering to go higher on gap payments, some offering lower monthly costs & lower gap payments.
Same applies to our medicines, the government negotiates on prices & then subsidies so we pay a set price, or we can choose more expensive brand names or less proven remedies if we want to & pay the gap/have the insurance company pay the gap.
Sick people have waiting times for their pre-existing conditions of up to 12 months paying premiums before being covered & everyone has to pay a surcharge if they wait until after 30 years old before taking out private insurance (that increases per year delayed), to penalise those that only sign up when they get old & constantly sick but Medicare also has built in incentives to pay doctors treating chronic conditions higher to keep those people mostly within Medicare, so as to not over-burden health insurance companies.
All in all, we have one of the world's best health systems & one of it's cheapest! We have a life expectancy rating 4th highest in the world, so clearly we're doing something right (the US is rated 31st in the world for life expectancy).
Just do the "Medicare for all who want it" & the system will work itself out America. What have you got to lose?

The old traditional healthcare system doesn't guarantee a person being able to go to that same doctor for the rest of their lives! For crying out loud doctors actually retire, once in a while they move from the area or die and employer based health care plans always switching yhongs around so all of a sudden your doctor is out of network. I don't know why there is all this nostalgia for the old system. it's like the nostalgia for making America great again, you know back when rivers were polluted and dead of life and caught on fire. Yeah let's make America just like that again. Why do people wanna be lied to?

We have a healthcare combo in Finland... there is a public option and there are private clinics you can go to if you want to pay a bit more (government then subsidizes part of the cost) or if you have a private health insurance. I have the extra insurances for myself and my children, that's about 300-400€/year/person but most times we end up using the public health care because it is as good as the private one and easier if it's stuff that's going to be referred on to a hospital anyways. Insurance still pays us back for everything (bigger private bills or smaller public ones plus all prescribed medication) on the kids' insurances, I've racked up some preexisting conditions (which is fine for the companies to decide since in our system that doesn't deny me affordable care on the public side anyways). It's very much not an impossible system. You have to WANT to solve it though and that will just isn't there in the US government yet.
