    thanks for this. I was nervous and it got me to pull the trigger and go for it. Liked that you did the extended sleep before reviewing. Video was fun too. Looking forward to more videos from you - nice to see someone who actually thinks through the product.

      Thank you! My brother just bought the mattress too and spent the first day just hanging out on it! It's the most supportive and comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. I hope you love it as much! Thank you for the awesome comment and compliments!

    Thank you for this!! I was humming and hawing about this mattress. I gotta get one each for my son and for myself. This was the best review I have seen ever. You even unboxed everything and showed what to expect and how it looks in the box and all that which was very, very helpful for the rest of us. Thanks again from Calgary!! does the box spring come with the mattress?

      Glad it was helpful! We still think it's the best mattress we've ever slept on, hands down. And it's been well over a year. The box spring is bought and shipped separate. Thank you so much for the great comment!

    Do you need a box spring with these mattresses? I didn't think it was needed

    • @HomeCulture

      You are correct - we use one for height because our bed frame is too low. You don't need a box spring.

      Some here are essentially saying "no" but if you research around and also check the Douglas site - you do. Essentially the reason for it is support - if you look at a basic frame it's typically just a single cross beam. This means that over time depending on size and your combined weight, the mattress will start to sag. You can put it on the floor and not need that - but some say you're liable for mold. Both of these bad experiences are long term, and I have no idea just how legitimate these dire warnings are, but that's the reason. I've been using a futon for years and am looking to upgrade(getting up in the morning off the floor is so university-dorm!), and I certainly don't have mold. I would think regularly rotating the mattress would help at least with the sag.

    So glad that you shared this. I will buy this mattress next time I need one. We found buying a mattress a challenge.We bought a new mattress two years ago. The first one we bought was too firm and they allowed us to return it. We then bought a Serta and it is just a little soft so probably won't keep it for the ten year standard. How do you test a mattress by laying on it for five min. in the store???

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  Рік тому

      That was what we said when first thought about ordering a mattress online: what difference is there to sitting on a mattress in a store, or ordering one online? So ordered online and don't regret it one bit! I'd honestly order this mattress again. Our previous mattress was a Serta too - and it was too soft and not supportive. All the best in the new year!

    I git this and so weird I was expecting the sheets and pillows to have the red lines on them and the Douglas logo but it's from good morning America? I'm confused? Are the sheets and pillows not actualy douglas mattress brand? Do you know the answer to this?

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  Рік тому +2

      I think I can explain. Good Morning is the company, also known as Bon Matin in French speaking parts of Canada. Douglas is the name of the first and most well known mattress they make. It's a Canadian company. The mattress with have the name Douglas on it, but the sheets, mattress pad etc will say Good Morning or Bon Matin. I've seen the Logan & Cove mattress from Good Morning and it says Logan & Cove in grey all over it. 😃

    do you need a box spring? do you think it's an issue to put this directly on the ground?

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  2 місяці тому

      The ground would be just as supportive as a box spring, if not more supportive. You only 'need' a box spring if your bed frame only has side rails and no middle slats. Hope this helps!

      @@TrplTSoul Great! Absolutely love the mattress! I'm sticking with Douglas for life, seriously. Ralph used to wake up with a sore back, and since we switched that's gone. It's been a year and half and I would recommend it over and over.

    How is the Douglas 2 years in? 🤔

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  9 днів тому +1

      Still super comfortable. We both agree it's still the most comfortable and supportive mattress we've ever slept on. One of the biggest reasons we looked for a new mattress was because Ralph was waking up with a sore back. Since we switched, that's gone. The traditional spring mattress we used before just wasn't supportive enough. I would buy another Douglas for sure. And now they have newer models that I wish I had an excuse to buy!

    • @TallCJ
      @TallCJ 9 днів тому

      @@HomeCulture does Douglas offer mattress disposal of your old mattress or did you have to arrange that some other way? Also did you find the mattress cover stayed in place or slipped around when moving on memory foam?

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  7 днів тому

      @@TallCJ We moved the old mattress to our spare room, so I never looked into that part of it. Locally we have a refuge shelter that takes mattresses, that's were I have 'disposed' of mattresses before. Sometimes women's shelters are looking for mattresses to help set up families in their new life, too. As for the mattress pad, mine is a little big for the mattress, so when I change the sheets I notice it bunched up at some point, but I don't notice that when I'm in bed. I don't notice the mattress pad at all, so I guess it stays pretty well in place! (This is a new 'summer cooling' mattress pad - the one that I bought with the Douglas fits perfect and I don't remember it moving at all - that's my winter warm one lol)

    Thanks for the awesome review! I have a question, does the memory foam feel like quicksand? I mean if you shift positions is it hard to do?

    • @HomeCulture
      @HomeCulture  Рік тому

      We were actually worried about that because when memory foam first came out, it was like quicksand. But, Ralph and I both agree it's easier to move around on this bed then our previous pillow-topper style mattress. And that was a high-end brand name mattress. It's like you float on the Douglas, you don't sink in. Honestly, I couldn't believe a mattress could feel like this.
