Man, you have built another excellent multi-fuel kit. Great craftsmanship was clearly in evidence. You are correct, the liquid alcohol stove might not break any records for boil time, but has a place in the kit. It is quiet, has no smoke signature, and will function at temperatures where a 70% butane/30% propane gas mix will not. Perhaps I am a little prejudiced toward my alcohol stoves? I could almost see the camp chef with two nesting pots. Pasta cooked in one and a nice sauce simmering in the other over the alcohol stove, maybe with the simmer ring in place. We will be waiting for any further modifications or improvements you make. Thank you for this superior post.
Thank you for your kind comment. This stove idea came to mind, and I couldn't help myself. This had to be built. I named the project " war stove ". The purpose is to make such a stove, which also works in harsh conditions and fits into a small space. The Esbit kettle is intended for military use and it served as a good blank. The parts of the stove modification had to fit inside the Esbit stove. If the Esbit stove and accessories were titanium, it would be a very good thing. Of course, two pots are needed for more complex cooking.
Finnish military use field kitchens or Trangia stoves with alcohol burners. Alcohol can be produced cheaply and the burner is sure to work. Withstands harsh conditions. I understand the Swedish army has some gas stoves for its soldiers.
Kiitos. Alkoholipolttimessa on yleensä tehoa noin 1000W kun kaasupolttimessa on helposti kolme tai neljä kertaa enemmän. Alkoholilla litra vettä kiehuu keskimäärin n. 15 minuutissa esim. Trangialla. Monilla kaasupolttimilla vastaava aika on monesti n. 5 min tai jopa alle. Olen huomannut, että puulla vastaava aika on monesti n.10min. Kiire ei yleensä ole retkellä. Mutta jos on vaikka väsynyt, kylmissään ja nälissään niin silloin nopeus on valttia
