Oregon supports tourism, camping, outdoor activities and RV travelers. They have some of the best parks throughout the entire state. Prices are very reasonable and most places even have extra amenities like showers, full hook up's, and lots of primitive sites. Winter weather can get a little rough. Mostly lots of rain and some high winds. Rarely any snow. Spring, summer and fall can be excellent. It is well worth the time and effort to drive the entire coast even up into Washington.
I grew up just to the right on the bridge crossing before the bridge crossing into Washington. That bridge crossed over the entrance of Youngs Bay where Lewis and Clark wintered up the the now Lewis and Clark River. BTW mt step dad helped build both those bridges.
That is sooooo cool! I loved the bridges on the Oregon coast!❤ We stopped at the Lewis and Clark historic location too. My daughter really loved the historical re-enactments.
Hia it must have been quite an experience whilst growing up in this area I mean the sceneries are spectacular God bless America and its people ❤,I come from the Rock of GIBRALTAR and my wish is that one day me and wife and daughter could visit this Beautful Country ,I love America and yet I've never been there but my heart has always been set to go there one day one day . Anyway God bless you all and my kindest regards .
Hi Russ, this is a beautiful route. Love the costal parts of Oregon. I have been watching your videos for about 7 months, and I have enjoyed them all! You have the personality for this! Love your humor and upbeat attitude. So pleasent to watch and listen to. Thank you for the great videos! You were meant to do this! 😃
I think it's a great idea, Just what you'll save on fuel will probably pay the payment on the tear. Drop or whatever you choose to get! As long as you've got the space to park it when you get back from where you're journey takes you, you're good to go! Plus It will be easier to park as well. Safe travels👍🙏
My husband & I were camp hosts at most of the Oregon State Parks over about 10 years period of time. We loved all of them but Fort Stevens was our favorite.
I love when you say "let's go" or "Here we go," you've really taken us all along with you. It's amazing how you include us. You've got more Family than you know. Because we're the folks who love you for just by you! ❤❤
I know you can’t show everything. However, I was sorry you missed the Alsea Bridge which I worked on. Lincoln City would be worth showing going thru. Canon Beach is fantastic and Eola State Park at its north end is a forest dripping with moss and day use ares on the water. From Gearhart (just north of Seaside you can drive for ten miles on the sand all the way to the shipwreck. About two miles east of where you got back on 101 from Fort Stevens is Fort Clatsop which I would consider a must see for anyone passing that close. Maybe next time. The down slope towards Washington on the Astoria Bridge cannot be felt in video. It is steeper than it looked. 🤠
can't catch you live anymore do the live between 8:00 am to 10:00 pm that's when my library is open lol central time I was astonished you remembered me that one day. support your local library if they have free internet access🤩
Dang! Wished I would have known you were going to be here in my neck of the woods. Coos County, Winchester Bay. I could have given you a ride in the Dunes. You went right by my house. Thanks for all your videos. Love em. Be safe
Tillamook Cheese is wonderful cheese. I tasted it in California years ago and loved it and so glad that the Target Store here in Bismarck, North Dakotra carries the Tillamook Cheese so I don't have to go without!!
Russ, this is the first time I've ever watched a UA-cam video longer than an hour but this one was so interesting and fascinating that it was well worth my time so thank you very much.
Same with Depot Bay. There might not have been any whales at that time but the little building right on the edge of the bay between 101 and the bay is worth a comment.
Yea the lighthouse walk up past spooky forest looked awesome and then the view and lighthouse . If you have ever read a Dean Koontz novel like “Insanity” it takes place in Oregon and in my mind looks exactly what I envisioned . I wouldn’t want to be up there after dark , alone no moon and thunder and lightning. Lol
first 40 minutes were awesome .i Love the rainy weather .i can stand up stranded in the rain for hours and days .and cheese factory was awesome ,i love cheese pizza and cheese tacos more than anything else . its the 1st time i fall in love with oregon ,before i Love california ,florida and texas ,virginia and now oregon too . ❤
When my Daughter and Her Husband took us to Maine..I thought it was so beautiful Orchard Beach.. look at how much more there is out there! So peaceful and relaxing. God is Good!!!
This really was a once in a lifetime journey Russ. I loved the cheese factory, the old fort and the big bridge. Thank you for sharing the journey. Safe travels.
I have been glued to your UA-cam channel for the last 4 hours I made the same trip many years ago brought back lots of memories from my California days

So glad I found your videos! Absolutely love them! Thankyou very much for all your hard work that goes into making these.I sure appreciate and look forward to watching this video
Hello Russ! I have enjoyed seeing along the Pacific Coast. Loved stopping in that harbor watching the boat. Some really nice campgrounds that had lots to offer at reasonable rates. It's funny how I wave back at you knowing you can't see me. hehe Nice aerial views along with beautiful scenery.
This video is bringing up memories! Wayback in the day I was a locomotive engineer for southern pacific, and all the extra board would catch the Tillamook hauler that ran from Portland to Tillamook! absolutely stunning and beautiful. Going over the Cascade mountain range to Tillamook! Sadly, that track has been shut down! Also, after a 20 year career as a top, producing real estate broker in Las Vegas, Nevada, moved to Port Orford, Oregon! 20 years as a locomotive engineer, 20 years as a real estate broker in Las Vegas
Love watching this from Australia 🇦🇺 traveled to USA in 2000 drove 4,ooo miles in 5 weeks , combined camping with motels . Would love to see you rent a camper R/V in Australia and do a drive of your choice on the correct side of the road 😂😂
Russ you channel is a Joy for so many. Thank you for producing such great content. Your backdrop music is toetapping perfect. I do have a question, How do you manage to reduce; backaches, etc from all the driving you do?
Amazing I’m going to Harris Beach end of May!!! Love the videos whenever I’m going somewhere I can see a preview of wherever I chose to vacation on your channel usually ❤ thank you
Love traveling with you. We stayed at the Winchester Bay RV Park in the summer of 2007. Love it there. Fish and eggs for breakfast , Fish and fries for lunch and dinner. Great memories. Keep up the good work and Happy Trails🤠
The white lighthouse used to be way out on the water, but guy at the counter said it was moved inland where it is now. They said it had affected the foundation of it out there on the beach area. We live right down south of it. Great video!!
Beautiful, scenic drive. Love the small towns, lighthouses and history. You have really found some interesting things to do, and see. That was a great once in a lifetime. 🙂👍
We stayed in the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park campground. It was gorgeous! And Bonus- we had full hook ups too. 😁 Such a beautiful drive. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Thank you for another great video. At the beginning of this video, I was curious to know, what shoals, reef outcropping, or treacherous rocks, that the Winchester Bay Lighthouse, is protecting ships from.
this has been amazing traveling with you, learned lots, fabulos stops, beautiful bridges, cheese factories amazzing the building with airplanes was incredable loved everything, the walk up to the light house was so beautiful. thank you for all you do its so nice to travel with you. oregan, of what i see is beautiul.
Hi Russ, another beautiful trip, Keep on Truckin...... ps. I'm a retired local & OTR Driver, & have you ever tried,'' Rain Off,'' on the windshield ? imo, does a wonderful job keeping those rain drop sliding off your windshield once your moving more than 30 mph... and as we say,.keep it between the ditch's son....S/F
Western Washington, Whidbey Island, I did that Hwy 101 😊trip all the way to California to see my new Great Grand Son in 2020. Nice to you doing it going from South Oregon into South Washington. Thanks for the ride.😊
I did that trip in my 28' Tioga. Was awesome. The largest state run rv park is in Warrenton OR. We're that shipwreck is. You can stay there for $28. They have Day of cancelations. Seaside is my favorite.
Hello Russ! I went down memory lane, especially went you got to Fort Stevens! That shipwreck is called the Peter Iredale, and my dad gave me my first driving lesson on that beach. We lived in Warrenton, and I went to Fort Stevens Jr. High in 74-75, in an old army barracks. We lived in Astoria for a short time, it was an aweful place. Nice to see it looking so pretty there these days..
Of all your trips - I enjoyed this the most! Makes me truly wish I could someday make the same trip. Say something about the mountains that form the backdrop for the long shots. Is it true that some of this docks that sell fresh caught salmon will ship? God bless - safe driving. Peg
Nice video, thank you! Early 1960's at times I crossed by ferry boat from Meggler to Astoria. The bridge was dubbed the "Bridge to nowhere" as there was nothing on the Washington side except roads and very few people for many miles! I think the bridge was built about mid to late 1960's. Ron PTL USA
Fyi , Newport has Elks lodge east of Marine nxt to hwy 20 on a side rd leads into marine from east side or drive to end of marina turn left at stpp sign
Lived in western Oregon most of my life, never get tired of it. Should have stopped at Nye Beach in Newport, really cool. The VA/Gov needs to protect the Tillamook blimp hanger. Tillamook floods almost every winter so stay clear.
If someone hit the mega millions... wow that's the life! Even the fog is beautiful. Too bad we haven't gotten smellaviison..all of the fresh air and trees smell awesome.
Stayed at the campground right behind umpqua lighthouse many times. It’s so green and lush with ferns and moss that it looks like a fairytale setting in a movie. It gets a bit noisy around those parts at times due to the off-roading down at the beach. Never really a big deal for us though. Just more stuff to look at. Thanks for vid and cheers. 👍
Thanks for bringing back the memories of the Oregon coastal trips I've done with family over the years. I remember going to the lighthouse on the Cape. It was cold as heck and there was a long line to get in. It was my niece's idea. What is the music you are playing on that trip?
It's a shame that lighthouse wasn't open to the public because from the view you can see the Columbia rushing to meet the Pacific. It's a sight I will never forget
Yes it is! To see the two crashing together like that has been a precious memory of mine I will never forget. The lighthouse was manned by a Coast Guard gentleman and he was very informative, we were so lucky that day to be able to talk to him

Another amazing video. I didn't wave back but I did not as you drove past the construction guy.
You could and should write a book on places to see. Never disappoint, fine video journalist.

Russ, when I got my drone license they stressed the fact that you can't fly a drone near any airstrip. Don't get into trouble.
I love your videos and in particular this one
Oregon is so magnificent! Thank you so much for all you do , you make me smile!

in Newport, really cool. The VA/Gov needs to protect the Tillamook blimp hanger.
Tillamook floods almost every winter so stay clear.
The pond you referred to on the left before the Umpqua lighthouse is actually a small lake with a 1 mile walk around its perimeter.
If someone hit the mega millions... wow that's the life!
Even the fog is beautiful.
Too bad we haven't gotten smellaviison..all of the fresh air and trees smell awesome.
Nice video, Russ. A rain jacket is definitely something to carry if you are visiting the Oregon Coast. Lol.
