Nice reaction! Kevin is too nice a guy to be bothered by how someone pronounces his name, but just as a matter of information, his surname is closer to "oh-LOO-sho-la." I believe it's true that he has perfect pitch: I remember reading that before starting a song (back on The Sing-Off at least) the others in PTX would rely on him to give them the pitch.
I don't know if you've seen it already, but his original song Renegade will blow your mind. He doesn't sing much in it, although he uses his falsetto in the beginning.
yes, PTX has exclaimed that KO has perfect pitch. But KO was doing his own thing for a LOOONG TIME before he met Scott to become a part of PTX. KO started "CELLO-BOXING" when he was away for school. KO is amazingly gifted and highly educated...but neither of those compare to his spirit. He just loves music and the people around him.
One of the reasons I am a Pentaholic is because I've followed them enough over the last 9 years, some months, the Sing Off, Season 3 was in 2011, that I know they are ALL humble and in complete awe that what they love to do has an audience and they make money from it period. They are all humble enough to be grateful for their success and the fact that they are all so accommodating to each other that they all support each other's side projects. Side note, I can't remember if it is Friday or Saturday, but they don't perform on one of those days when they tour in deference to Kevin's Seventh Day Adventist's beliefs. Kevin offered to bow out early in their band's career because he knew it was a drag on their touring. They discussed it as a group and decided the sacrifice as a touring band was worth keeping Kevin and respecting his beliefs. They also all know what it takes to build up the audience PTX has - appearances during holidays, interviews on morning shows, constant travel and pr. They know their side projects are that - side projects. If they have an audience great. But that's not what those are about. And yes, Kevin has perfect pitch.
His pitch is amazing. In the PTX patreon spreecasts in the past, they would always look to him to give them the first pitch to sing a song during the stream.
Honestly? I think Kevin is flexing his producer chops with this channel. There will come a time where he will have kids and PTX may choose to scale back their touring and/or call it quits. So Kevin is learning how to create and produce songs....who wouldn't want to work with him? Edit: point being, it isnt the number of views he gets, it is a smaller pool of people he is reaching out to.
@@JacobRestituto 😃👉You should consider PENTATONIX Sing Off journey BUT BEFORE that you should check out "The Trio" (Scott Kirstie and Mitch) in their High School choir concert singing Telephone by Lady Gaga. AND their cover of Firework by Katy Perry, recorded at Scott's house (They were SO YOUNG). The Trio are from TX, Kevin from KY, Avi from CA, and Matt from MD. (The Trio met as kids respectively)😃
@@JacobRestituto Your choice, of course, but I recommend an acoustic version of "Break a Little" rather than Kirstin's official video. I think it's the better version/performance. It's good sound quality and it is from her own YT channel: ua-cam.com/video/ZQdR8v5C6t4/v-deo.html I believe she's performing for a fundraiser for an organization that rescues wolves.
Thanks for reacting to Kevin's music again. He is amazing. Please check out more from Kevin's KO UA-cam channel. "Stay With Me", "Don't let Me Be Misunderstood" and "Friends" are more of my favorites. Kevin was/is part of the incredible trio Triptyq. "Void Of A Legend" and 'When I Fall" are two of my favorite Triptyq songs on his channel.
He played Carnegie Hall twice as a teen. Once with cello and once with sax. Graduated pre-med from Yale. Then got the call to form Pentatonix for the show The Sing-off. He also speaks 5 languages fluently.
So glad you did this one! Its my second favorite, just behind Down. This one shows off his vocal chops, with lovely vocal layering; on Down he mixes his own beatboxing & absolutely SHREDS on the electric cello.
Their solo and side projects seem to help them express themselves and yet still be happy singing rated "G" all age appropriate a capella music as PTX. Kev likes it Rated G but Superfruit stuff is more PG-13. Kirstie has a solo album and has done Broadway but so far she's still happy singing with PTX.
"Chest. Head. Mix. by Pentatonix" is really a cute/funny .33 second video of Scott, Kevin and Mitch that you should check out. YT keeps deleting my post with the link. 🤨
Sorry it took me so long to see this one (7 hrs) but I was watching my Buccaneers win the Lombardi Trophy, right here at home!!! Woo! Anyway, awesome reaction as usual, Kevin dies have perfect pitch! He's pretty amazing.
I did notice when Pentatonix was on the lip sync challenge show Kevin's bit on UA-cam titled just his name while the others may have mentioned Pentatonix. Kevin does have a professional persona of his own. I believe there is a day named after him in Kentucky because of his musical achievements since childhood. He also hosted a mini-series that featured child musicians. He does production for other artists as well, so he keeps busy.
PTX discovered Kevin from his UA-cam channel. Mitch, Scott and Kirstin have been performing together since childhood. They needed 5 members to audition for the Sing-off. So they found Kevin and Avi. Thus forming Pentatonix and winning! They were dropped by Sony one week later. UA-cam videos created their career.
Nice reaction Jacob, thank you. Kevin just loves music, I don't think for one minute he compares his views to that of PTX - just a great guy doing his own thing :)
Just in case you missed DelGuy03's comment below: Kevin's last name is pronounced oh-LOO-sho-la, with the stress on the second syllable. I know you make an effort to pronounce the names correctly, so I trust you won't mind the reminder. I learn so much from the things that you point out in your videos! Thank you for this one, and for "Gold."
I wonder what you think about Loïc Nottet. Please check out his cover of Chandelier ua-cam.com/video/BZdlxb5WSEQ/v-deo.html or his music/dancing video Million Eyes ua-cam.com/video/68EnJITH-5Q/v-deo.html
I don't know about personal feelings but I do know it was mentioned once that they all agreed Pentatonix would come first before any side projects. Hence, Superfruit hasn't done anything in a while. They just don't have the time. They have been very busy with PTX. I would assume that they are all very happy with being in PTX and just enjoying each other and enjoying being able to produce music for fans. PTX is also promoted more then their personal brands, live shows, and tours. So it would make sense that they would get more views. They have been around for a long time. Short answer I don't know but, I doubt it bothers him.
You should check out some of Geoff Castellucci’s solo work. (He is the bass from voiceplay) everything is great but Blackbird and High and Dry are particularly amazing
Recommendation - I think a few people might recommend Kirstie's Break a Little video. I LOVE Kirstie. Her voice is amazing. But I hate to say, I think her album was overproduced. Please react to her live, acoustic performance of her song Break a Little. Not only does it really highlight her fantastic singing, I am interested to hear your take on how it was recorded. They are all outside. You can hear birds and one of her dogs is behind her LOL. Here's the link. ua-cam.com/video/ZQdR8v5C6t4/v-deo.html

All of the members of Pentatonix love what the group does. They are also all very supportive of the others.

Interesting comment. I hadn't though of this, but it makes perfect sense.
You might enjoy "Lost on You" by Scott from Pentatonix and Mario Jose.
Yes! Its incredible!
Oh yessss
Stunning video.
Kevin is a GENIUS!! 🙏🙏React to "Lose Us" by Rozzi ft. Scott Hoying!! and Break A Little by Kirstin🙏🙏
cool thnaks!!

The man is a musical genius! Doing all those things at once?? Talent. & hard work!

I really like this because it's the first time I've heard Kevin using his full chest voice and it was great! Loved your comments too.

Didnt see this one in your ptx playlist so I am re question “Aha! Live at the Singapore Star Vista” Guaranteed to blow your mind!

Wow!
Great reaction! K.O. ko'ed it as always!
Kevin does a great KOver of As long As you Love Me from the Backstreet Boys
He is the most humble human being I have seen in a band. He doesn't have an ego when it comes to his music separate from PTX!!
Amazing
Nice reaction Jacob, thank you. Kevin just loves music, I don't think for one minute he compares his views to that of PTX - just a great guy doing his own thing :)
Kevin had this channel going before joining PTX. So maybe his channel has benefited from his success in PTX?
He WRITES music like a genius as well.

Wow... Really enjoyed that Mr R👍Kevin is talented indeed 👌🌟
❤❤❤
He is cool 😎
Now it's time to listen to KO's Renegades.
Like your outro
Thanks!
there is a video of him playing with THE BOYS 11men at an awards ceremony
:D
Oh please react to Down next. He really killed it!
You should react to Scott's Channel. Scott Hoying. His (Red) cover of I should Tell Ya Momma on You. Mind blowing.
cool thanks!

If you want to have some fun??? Listen to Scott and "Frankie" and the song Ghost. It is a gender swap of the movie Grease!!!

Have you listened to Avi’s Change
Can you react to Superfruit: Goodbye from lonely.
Can you react to more of Tate McRae
Their commitment, always Pentatonix come first
I think Adam Rupp is much better.
That’s the beauty of music! Everyone has their own preference!
Oops, I meant in beat boxing - not singing - Kevin has him there for sure!
You talk too much!
Sorry
