    I'm so glad now that the BTT Pad 7 wasn't available at that time. Got normal 10" Raspi Touchscreen instead which was an easy task of 5 minutes to get Klipperscreen up and running with KIAUH. No firmware switching and complex configuration. Just easy self detecting installation procedure :)

    THANK YOU! Was looking to do this with an old 7" Pi screen and a spare Pi3, but got hung up on creating the couple directories and config file. Did not really want to hang the 7" screen off the front of my Voron v2.4. Thanks again.

    thanks for sparking the idea in my head. this is great information and I ended up using some different hardware but I have managed to get it working in one night and now have three machines connected.

    I actually did this. I had a Raspberry Pi and a 7" Touch Screen left over from when I use to use OctoPrint with Marlin. Unfortunately the Raspberry Pi 3 I have must have an issue as it would often drop the connection with Klipper, so I run Klipper on a different device and have repurposed this Pi/touchscreen combo as the UI for the printer, so I didn't need to run a screen off the actual device running Klipper. KlipperScreen is a great inteface for Klipper. having it able to be remote is just a geeky bonus :)

    This video was great! I was able to get everything up and running, for about a day. I am not sure what happened over night, but now klipperscreen can not connect to either printer.

      Awesome! It might be that your IP has change because of your router. You might be able to login to you router and manually set these IP's to never change to keep this from happening.

      @@ChrisRiley I'm going to have to play around with it a bit. The IP addresses have not changed, but it still could be something wonky on my network.

    Great idea. I assume this is what Big Tree Tech is coming out with next as well. I heard they are calling it the Klipper touch. I have a Panda Touch new in the box sitting around so once they do come out with the software I will just flash it onto the Panda Touch. I have 4 printers and 3 of them are running Klipper so it would be nice to have it for sure. Thanks for sharing Chris.

    I won one of these screens but not the CM4 and haven't been able to justify the purchase.
    Perhaps I will eventually find an inexpensive CM4 and get some use out of it. This is an interesting use for it but I have several old tablets which make more sense.
    A really nice and informative video however, helpful in a general way also.

    I found an old fire tablet I want to run klipper screen on. I had the idea of connecting it to my printer and I'm hoping this guide helps get it working for me. Knowing I can connect other printers to it also has me thinking about what other things can be controlled like this. Halloween animatronics anyone?!?!

    the flaw i see with the trident, why home to z min ? why not z max ? lets say you print something 250 tall, and then after a while klipper turns off the motors cause thats what klipper does if no input is given for a certain time ... and you home again, the bed will just jam into the bottom and motors will skip cause it will auto drop 10mm for safety reasons to clear the nozzle area...
    if you would home to z max you wouldnt have this issue you could just skip dropping the bed and home z right away, then do x and y and then use the probe to get your mesh etc

    • @ChrisRiley
      @ChrisRiley  5 місяців тому

      A lot of folks would agree with you. There had always been a debate on home at min/home at max. As you state, there are benefits to going with max for sure.

      It would work, but you would have to be able to root it and get some sort of Linux OS on it you could login to. I'm sure there are tables out there like that, but I don't know of one right off hand. SO, it could work.

      @@ChrisRiley well i have bare motherboard of hp stream ax model, celeron dual core 2gb of soldered ddr3 and 32gb of soldered emmc drive and i hooked to it cash register 8 inch usb screen with no touch, after installing x86 version of pi os/debian 11 and disabling graphical interface i am around at the same point as you at 17:30 of this video
      installed klipper screen as a service as shown on video and rebooted the thing but for some reason klipper don't show up on screen and i don't know how to boot the interface
      starting x server only loads default graphical interface of pi os so i need to google it more
      but if that thing could run on external 12v battery hooked up to charger port and i connect any wifi card to it functionally this would be basically the same minus touch interface, bit bigger
      i plan to build my klipper host on it and convert my ender or prusa clone to run klipper but untill i can see the screen it is just an exercise
      small edit
      klipper screen works as a desktop aplication and after adding cursor switch to show cursor to config fil it can be operated by mouse clicking, but only on external monitor
      cash register display link monitor refuses to work in x11 and if it is connected at all the whole server keep crashing and rebooting or only show green screen i think i need a solution for that first or different linux distro because display link monitor works on the same laptop runing both windows and mint linux just fine

    • @kokodin5895
      @kokodin5895 6 місяців тому +1

      a little update. using displaylink usb monitors in linux is posible, but due to how drivers are writen you need wayland based enviroment to run them, x11 would not work corectly
      so even if i can run the screen it needs full desktop to run the klipper gui and it can't run as a service because that bricks the screen driver
      i tryed pi os, mint linux and ubuntu where system requirements for the os alone were higher than hardware could do
      so in the end i pulled out the screen fro the case and ordered hdmi signal board from china for it, shold be here in 2 weeks, then i try again
